I still love playing video games, but the lack 4-player Mario Kart + cheap beer marathons of the old days kinda make me sad.
-
I got it last night and played it for 2 hours. I've never played anything like it before. It's pretty cool, definitely relaxing and immersive. You might get a kick of excitement from seeing new creatures, sunken treasure, and stuff, but it's mostly like 'swim around and look at stuff'. For now - like I've said, I haven't played it enough. The only thing I'm really disappointed with (so far) is the boat. I thought you could pilot the boat manually and look around from the deck, but no. I'm going to wait and get a few more opinions on No More Heroes before I purchase it.

Really? Tell us why.

Here's what you do: 1. Trade in your Wal-Mart 'bucks' for cash and, and never go to another Wal-Mart again, because when you shop there, you help spread their evil. OR If you can't trade for cash, buy the groceries and some pens and never go to another Wal-Mart again. 2. Buy No More Heroes off of a trusted site on the internet. Try not to think about it until it comes in the mail. 3. Check your mail a week later and find it in the mail. Put the game in the Wii and play it. 4. Tell us what you thought about it.

But that's impossible. Bowser never wins. Mario always beats him. Okay, for real, maybe this has something to do with Brawl's plot? Anyway, it just disturbs me. I don't know why a deserted Mushroom Kingdom disturbs me so much, but it does.
-
Well crap, the Mushroom Kingdom has turned to ruins. I don't understand. That's kinda sad if you ask me. Do they mean that the whole kingdom is like that? Sorry, I'm one of those weirdos who actually cares about the Mario story / timeline.

^ Yeah, I could do without the SNK-influenced suit-wearing, androgynous fighters (SNK fans, no harm meant). But the thing that concerns me the most besides gameplay... Please let the music rock. Street Fighter 2 has awesome music. 3 and EX's music was a bit too friendly with disco, jazz, new age, etc.. I want music that pumps me up - Street Fighter 2 managed to incorporate many different musical styles, yet almost every theme is full of energy and meant to make you want to win.

The Megas' album is finally available - Get Equipped.
Devyn replied to TheMegas's topic in General Discussion
Oh heck yes, I bought it and I love it. I was thinking of posting a link to it on here, but I'm nervous about starting threads. Anyway, it's a work of art. I LOVE Crashman's song, and I love the reworked BubbleMan (especially the hammer ons after the chorus). Heatman is vicious - that bassline is killer. I like all of them, but those are the ones that stand out the most to me. So, I guess I look like a stalker now, because I also posted the first comment about it on The Megas' website. Anyway, if you love anything related to Mega Man, you will love this album. -
Picking up Endless Ocean after my recording session tonight. I'm going to get an SD card and put lots of 311 and ambient music on it. Hmm, gotta cycle through my OCR library and see what I can find. By the way, what's the best way to get music onto the Wii games? I've never worked with SD cards before.

If they release SF4 on Wii, I will be very surprised. It's more likely that Wii will get a frikkin' minigame version of Street Fighter with little chibi characters.
-
= wrong.Yeah, Mega Man is the king.

Bull shit.

It's not dead, but I think there should be way more 2D side-scrolling and platforming games on home consoles. Viewtiful Joe, Odin Sphere, Alien Hominid, and Super Paper Mario are all great. Back around 12 years ago, when everything went 3D, developers and gamers just assumed that the natural transition for everything should be 3D, which is wrong. A lot of the attempted 3D revivals of games failed because those games were never meant for 3D in the first place. Old school 2D gaming + new technology = Fun. By the way, I am so getting the Vanillaware Wii game / Odin Sphere sequel.

OCR01672 - F-Zero "The Freedom of Zero"
Devyn replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The instrumentation, singing, and quality are all very good. I think old-school F-Zero fans will have the best understanding of this remix. Otherwise, I don't think that I would've enjoyed the transition into the mute city and "race finish" themes as much, but I thought it was really cool. Very unique mix and may take a few listens before you really appreciate it. It's a little bit over-the-top, especially with the female attendant/announcer character, but that may be icing on the cake for a lot of listeners. -
:< It could happen. Maybe DL content. Edit: This just in. Brawl is actually being delayed to March 2009. Sakurai made this decision in order to include Mega Man, MMX, Zero, Bass, the entire cast of Outlaw Star (including Ashea Clan Clan from the Ctarl Ctral empire and alt costumes from episode 23), Wolverine (Edward Scissorhands alt costume), Willow, King Vitamin, Yoda, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Jimi Hendrix, Ron Paul, Beowulf, Grendel, Rambo, and the drummer from 311. Friend codes are also going to be eliminated and replaced with Nintendo universal gaming tags, thanks to an agreement with Microsoft, who are also going to share ownership of Rare. Additional DL characters, stages, and other content will be released on a bi-weekly basis for the next 7 years. This content can be stored on the Wii's new 20 gig hard drive attachment, which will be shipped with Wii consoles from now on and will also be free to early owners via online order form. To make up for the year delay of Smash Brothers Brawl, Nintendo will be releasing the new Kid Icarus and Wii Sex instead. In other news, controversial lawyer Jack Thompson has had a change of heart and stopped being an asshole. Thompson commented to CNN "I can't believe I was blaming video games for all of the world's problems. Maybe I should spend money educating parents to make wise choices on what content their children should view instead of be a complete dick for no valid reason."

I liked Rescue Rangers, but I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I think this is a good thing, because I wouldn't want to end up like the weirdos who bought all of the seasons and draw hentai pictures of Gadget.
-
They are adding big bird and hamburgler.
-
I'm not too worked up about it. I've been playing Twilight Princess, and I still want to play No More Heroes and Endless Ocean (c'mon, Brawl isn't the only cool game coming out). But I hear ya, it's been pushed back way too many times. They should have waited until the game's completion to announce any release date. By the way, VC kinda sucked this week didn't it. Only 2 games and none of them particularly notable.
-
Arguing about video games, we are. Nerds, we are. Yes. Hrrrrrmmmmmm.
-
Bible Buffet!!! Cross between candyland and Zelda. Fun when you're playing with friends and also really weird because all the enemies are made of food. You can pretty much skip/ignore the bible parts too.
-
That's like saying grilled ribeyes taste bad, or slip-n-slides are boring. I don't even believe that you believe what you're saying.
-
^ Agreed. Either way, we still have Endless Ocean and No More Heroes coming out in a week or two.
-
That's strange, because I've always wondered why you can beat Namco fighting games by just pushing random buttons with your feet, or how a pro can get canned by a 3-year-old who sticks the controller in his/her mouth. Yeah, there's this game called Street Fighter 4 coming out. Yeah, and there's this Street Fighter HD Remix game, too. Kinda contradictory if you ask me. As opposed to side-stepping the enemy and pressing two buttons to grapple the enemy over and over again? I assume you were praising Tekken, am I correct? By the way, I like pretty much any fighting game out there besides Bleach. I just saw your post and I had to rip on it. I hope I wasn't too hard on you.
-
I think that would be mega cool, yes I do. I wouldn't care how long they had to push it back, although this is a lie and it will be coming out Feb 10th. By the way, I like to see colored text every once in a while.
-
I think that this is pretty cool for Star Wars fans (a.k.a. everyone in the whole world), but I also think that Namco are greedy and cheap. Why? The two Star Wars characters are split on different consoles You have to buy both a PS3 and an X-box to get both Yoda and Darth Vader. This is going to be a fanboy war in hell, but it's going to be interesting.
