  1. It doesn't matter, it just means AP and Barnsalot both have one less vote than they do now. However, you might want to edit your results post anyway, because you have AP listed as runner-up even though he out-muscled Barnsalot by 5 marks.
  2. I assume you're thinking of the Footstool Jump and that was my first thought too. While I'm still a bit leery of the concept of that maneuver, I can foresee it being a necessary tool to survive this trophy on most stages. Although, given that, the trophy can't last too long or else you'll run out of people to bounce off and Meteor Smash into oblivion. This also makes me think that the Footstool Jump will be infinitely repeatable, but simply difficult to execute.
  3. Are you just using the standard RCA cables with both TVs? You don't get "HD" without component cables (or, on the Elite, HDMI).
  4. Oh I have no doubt I and many other people I actually respect would like it much more than Halo 3, but you really think it can wrastle its way to GotY over the mounds of drooling fanboys?
  5. what the hell dude you made me jump and think the update came early tonight omfg be more careful about things like that man
  6. If you downloaded it before the end of June, the Internet Channel is free as can be. You only have to pay if you didn't download it before then, and no, the trial version doesn't expire.
  7. You really think it stands a chance of breaking through the massive stockade of loyal Halo 3 fans?
  8. I seem to remember reading some interview with Retro or some Nintendo higher-up saying that Prime 3 was not going to be light on Metroid's trademark backtracking. Can't for the life of me remember where exactly, though.
  9. That spider ball video made it look amazingly quick to charge a boost and pop from one track over to the next. Also, speedy bomb jump lol?
  10. If I'm laying/sitting in my bed on the other side of the room, this is viable because it's low to the floor. But if I'm sitting up close to the desk where both my computer and Wii are set up, the chair is too high off the floor for this to really be viable; at most one end of the remote will touch the floor, as the cord isn't long enough to let it rest fully even if I have the controller all the way in my lap. I can put it on top of the computer tower, but then if I forget it's there and rotate in my chair to talk to someone or who knows whatever else, it gets caught by the chair's arm and dragged off. So yeah, lap it is usually.
  11. It plugs into the Wiimote, which can sometimes be annoying because you've got to have a stable place close by to set the Wiimote down, which for me more often than not means my lap. It's not comfortable, but at least it's got all the wireless range of the Wiimote versus my poor non-Wavebird GCN controllers.
  12. So all of a sudden my roommate (yay for Facebook taking away all the mystery of a random roommate) whips out the fact that he's not only bringing a 360 to the dorm, but his mom's going to buy him an LCD HDTV once he's moved in. Not sure whether it'll be 19" or 26" yet (links), but either one will have HDMI and VGA input and support up to 720p or 1080i--since he told me about her offer I've been helping shop around and offering the added bonus of my discount at Target. But yeah, I'm hella excited because together we'll have a kickass Wii60 combo and I can't wait to finally play games like Gears of War, upcoming Bioshock and obligatory Halo 3.
  13. Note that the classic controller only works with the main Wii menus and the intro menus to channels (where they have a splash page with the "Wii Menu" and "Start" buttons), not any channels like Mii, Photo, Wii Shop or any downloadable channels. Regardless, it's a damn handy feature when all you want to do it turn on the Wii and go straight into some VC game without pointing and clicking. And the controller is really, really comfortable for most people.
  14. Just shell out the $20 for the Classic Controller. It's very much worth it for many many games (including, I guarantee, Super Metroid).
  15. I'm willing to bet they intended to update with them the same time they update the Wii Shop, but ran into technical difficulties.
  16. Yeah, I just assumed they would be. It's 8/13, Nintendo, so where are the vids?
  17. Same here. I don't really have any desire to play Metroid yet again, but I've never played Super Metroid properly (that is, on a console, with a decent controller). Anyone check out the new MP3 videos today?
  18. I cannot fucking wait to play the Pokémon Trainer. Rock the fuck out.
  19. I agree with GA. Let's just stick to the rotation we've got going for now. Also, next time you're feeling swamped go ahead and let us know ahead of time. I'd even offer to run the competition jointly if you felt it might take some of the load off your shoulders; it was, after all, run by three people before a couple of them disappeared and phpbb went kablooey.
  20. I saw a pack of thin plastic shell/screen protectors at Target for $10 that looked like official-esque Nintendo packaging but also had a Hori logo on the front. It has protectors for the outside top, both screens, and (IIRC) the areas around the dpad and buttons. It comes with a small cleaning cloth as well. Are these the sort of Hori screen protectors many people here have recommended, and if so, is that the standard price?
  21. I've never understood how people had problems with the Boost Ball Guardian, much less the Spider Ball Guardian.
  22. The only reason I hate Prime 2 is because I was going for the 100% log book, and only after I've saved in the Ing mothership or whatever do I discover that I missed the scans for the keyholes or whatever before unlocking thing. Damn did that piss me off, because I'd gotten everything else up to that point. EDIT: In response to Brushfire, the only way the controls could upset me is if the game is entirely unplayable. I figure if they screw up Prime they've still got chances to make things right with Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl. Only in the case of all three games being total control flops (which seems unlikely given the massive amount of positive reviews and good media we've seen for all three games so far) will I give up and declare the Wiimote a worthless gimmick.
  23. No argument there, although I think I prefer the "make each console its own channel" bit to "make the Virtual Console its own channel."
