Nintendo should have basis for at least a C&D, if not a suit, because PETA is clearly using Nintendo's characters to advertise against its own products. I mean, come on--Mario and Luigi can't do anything because they hurt themselves, Yoshi joins a PETA-like "stop the cruelty" cause and abandons Mario because he's mean to "turtles"? A parody involving similar characters would be one thing, but this smacks of libel or something to me, even if that's not the main objective.

I have to agree. Damn was that Valhalla video exciting. Can't can't can't can't wait to play this game. Also, a big WTF in Super Metroid. I could've sworn I'd gotten everything, including all the Super Missiles, so why now that I am recharging in Tourian do I only have 40 of those suckers? It's Monday. Where's my Super Metroid? You'd think by now Nintendo could have the process automated and streamlined so new games and whatever else went up first thing every Monday. There's no reason for delays.

I viewed those videos when they first went up on the evening of the 16th, and they said the 20th then. Nintendo's had a pretty steady cycle going since the channel first released, with weekly VC releases and semiweekly video releases, so I assume we'll have Super Metroid + vids tomorrow and at least one more video release due later next week (possibly a final one on the "official" game release date next Monday, seeing as how most street dates are Tuesday or Wednesday).

If any Nintendo game stands a chance it's going to be Super Mario Galaxy. That game hasn't been getting near as much hype as Prime 3 or Smash Bros. Brawl but it looks gorgeous and seems to play wonderfully, just like Sunshine should have years ago. transl: it's going to be = I hope it's

I don't know; I never meant to imply they were jokes, but rather that in my experience the corporate grapevine has usually been a slow and ineffective process. Most of the corporate orders I've seen go through have never taken complete effect until a day or more later, simply because of the time it takes to notice the info/get the word out to the employees. I'm not saying all TRU stores are likely to be loose with their copies of Bioshock for a while to come, but I'm willing to bet more than a few copies are going to be sold here and there even after corporate's laid down the law. Whether people will be fired because of it is a different story entirely, of course.

lol @ corporate emails In most companies, especially retail stores, they do jack squat to affect what actually happens on the consumer level. And when they do have an effect, it's always incredibly delayed, so you could probably still swipe one for the next day or two if you found the right person at the right store.

New MP3 videos. PED Suit was meh, although it definitely gives the impression that Federation troops will be prominent at least during some of the game. Air Assault was nice, giving a glimpse of what I can only assume is Corruption mode, but definitely doesn't do anything to assuage worries that the game's turning into Halo and fast.

The fact that he gives it a name--Tether Recovery--and says, "Moves like that can be pretty thrilling... Other can do it, too!" makes it very plain that several characters will have similar techniques. Otherwise, this would have been a Characters update for ZSS's special moves, not a Techniques update.

Bloc Party and Interpol are both good for songs that can pump out the bass but have other interesting (and, let's face it, damn fun) elements. With Interpol you could take pretty much anything off their first two albums though I'm partial to Turn on the Bright Lights because it moves a lot more than Antics, while some of the best of Bloc Party for your purposes would be harder to find B-sides, like the club version of "Tulips" off, well, Tulips, and the phones/disco version of "Banquet" off their first self-titled EP. See also: "Luno" from Silent Alarm. There are plenty of Beck songs that are nice to funk to. My favorite is Guero's "Go It Alone"; it's slower, but I still find myself nodding along in the car and violently resisting the urge to take my hands off the wheel and start snapping. You probably couldn't go wrong with Gorillaz either, although "Feel Good Inc." and "Kids With Guns" off Demon Days come to mind. You might give The Postal Service a try too, although beat isn't as prominent with them as the others I've mentioned. I can't think of anything else in particular right now, except to say that you really really ought to include "Glass Danse" by The Faint. Other songs of theirs might work well too but Glass Danse is definitely the best.

Well, 1080p isn't the only perk of a 50" TV. The perk there is that it's... well, it's fucking 50" of TV. Some people like their pictures big. Also, Malaki, I'd say it's a little closer to 8' for the maximum effect but yeah, that's around right.

I don't know about anyone else, but this update is neither awesome nor lame to me. Trophies were pretty much pointless in Melee, and these look to be about as frivolous, so it doesn't make a difference which it is (or if it's both).

Just to clarify: I would have no problem with bosses in this game becoming very fast-paced, intense firefights. After all, I see no reason why brushing with death should be more of a puzzle than a heart-pounding race to kill and survive. It's just that Samus and her "blazing guns" should restrain themselves until such moments, because really when you're a lone figure exploring an alien world that contains God-knows-what you want to be more cautious when you can and get a grip on exactly what's out there without being tracked through a trail of explosions and corpses. Yes to intense fights but only after yes to methodical exploration.

Like UE said, 1080p usually doesn't make a difference unless you're working with much larger sets (the smallest TV I've been able to appreciate the subtleties on was a 42"). If you're only look at a 32", 720p will do you just fine.
