IGN Declares Blu-Ray Winner of The Format War

BLUE LASER? Well, all that aside, I'm fine with my DVDs and my occasional laserdisc. ...Don't laugh. The audio was better than VHS. -

I'm going. Bought my tickets ages ago. I will be going as Ness

Mine started off as L_i_z_z. Then I realized how retarded the underscores were, so I dropped them. It didn't end there. Soon I bounced around names for a while (when we could change them on a whim). I was Citizen #(some big string of numbers), Miss Cyberpunk 2005/2006 (made a sig to go with it), Evil Incarnate (Sweet Home/Resident Evil 4 sig to go with it), Giygas Reloaded (yet another sig to go with that), Lizzodore Slowslop (character from an obscure but beautiful interactive movie called Gadget: Past as Future/Invention, Travel, and Adventre I played - I got to correspond with the composer who happens to be a really nice guy!), Still-Sore Suzie (on the anniversaries of techTV's demise) So, how did I get these names? Combinations of games I like, a genre I adore, and something I still protest. For kicks, I found my first-ever sig I used on OCR.

The Great State of Cahleeforneeah. San Francisco area, specifically.

Not entirely sure if Earthbound counts. Cheetahmen II. The music is pretty much the only thing the game got right. And admittedly, I love the Mystery Quest music. Mystery Quest is an awful NES game, but the music is bouncy and happy.

And, you know, a physical release of Mother, Mother 3, the REAL Super Mario Bros 2 (deemed too hard for Stupid American audiences until it was released on All-Stars). But yeah. Mostly the Mother/Earthbound stuff. They've gotta be pulling a Fire Emblem with Brawl. They just HAVE to. If not I'll explode.

These enemies are quite interesting. Angry horned-beatle, flying angry totem pole bird, rabid wolf, and Invisible Pirate. I do have to say, the one song sure is catchy.

Ocarina of Time, summer 2003.

Why did you pick one of the most frustrating parts to get to EVAR? I'm sorry to say it, but you shoulda gone to Berkeley. You should at least make a stop in Japantown.

All of my computers have pretty much had the same name - Goddamnit You Fucking Piece of Shit.

Admittedly, I do love the Nintendo Nerd's Power glove video. And Bigfoot's screencap.

The AVGN is funny, but I think it would be just as funny without the gratuitous use of combinations of fuck/ass/various animals/shit/etc.

Ripper McDouchebag needs his comeuppance. I wanna get in on the fuckery, so I'll use my specific "bugging-people-for-fun-and-profit" email.

Help me copy my iPod to my no longer dead Laptop!
entropicdecay replied to entropicdecay's topic in General Discussion
Hmm... now there's another conundrum. When I read my iPod through Senuti, it says I have 4669 songs. But when I check my iPod, it says I have 4598. Oh well. -
Help me copy my iPod to my no longer dead Laptop!

Okay, I'm not looking to steal music from everybody's iPods. There. I said it. I'm looking to rescue just about 4500 of my hard-earned songs that I've had since 2003. I actually did this two years ago - transferring music from a windows formatted iPod to my new Powerbook after my PC bit the dust. But that was two years ago and I've forgotten which software I'd used. Now, last night, I tried using one called Senuti. It crashed and I lost 50 or so songs, nothing irreplaceable or important. Heck, I haven't even noticed again. When I finally copy things over, I want to retain my playlists. EDIT: I would like to first copy my iPod to my PC before I forge ahead with my laptop. I need software recommendations. -
There is a fire burning close to my house.
entropicdecay replied to Nicole Adams's topic in General Discussion
Guessin' we're talking about the Tahoe fire. I can see it from San Francisco (The smoke, that is. No flames). There's a hill I live pretty much juuuust across that manages to catch fire somehow every year. Fire guys always arrive in time. It's all dry weeds up there, so we're pretty lucky. There was a pretty smoky fire on Treasure Island last week. Lotsa smoke, plus it made me late for work. Hope everything works out for you. And, uh... never heed this advice... -
I just tried to reinstall Tiger again. Same error as before. My dad, who works with computers and keeps a news station on air for a living (lol, braggin'), thinks it's a motherboard problem. The hard drive works, to the best of our knowledge, perfectly fine. It doesn't make the "tic... tic... tic" of doom, it doesn't sound like machine gun fire, etc. He's dealt with other macs around work that do the same thing. I'll be sending my laptop in soon. Thank god we got the Apple Care program. $350 is cheaper than trying to fix this. Thanks guys.

My 15" 1.67 GHz G4 Powerbook decided it's no longer on speaking terms with me. I've been getting the Grey Box of Dismay for the past couple days. I managed to back up all my important things, like pictures I'd sold to a gallery, music, and writing iv'e been working on for 4+ years. I got home from work today to try and resolve this problem. I turned on my laptop, it boots up fine. I open up firefox and AIM, and then everything freezes, except for the cursor. I restart it, it goes through the grey apple logo, and gets hung up on the blue screen. The OS loading doesn't even show up after 15 minutes. I try again and again and thank god that I backed up everything last night. Phew. My question is this. Now what do I do? EDIT: I tried doing disk first aid. I got the failure note that reasds "the underlying task reportd failure on exit" EDIT 2: I just tried to install Tiger using my startup disks. I chose "Archive and install". Unfortunately, the install never gets past "verifying system volume"

Adium 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 ate my passwords :(
entropicdecay replied to entropicdecay's topic in General Discussion
http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/7013 ^ Found this on it. I think there's really not much use for this, since I'm gonna hold out hope that it's gonna get fixed soon. Sigh. I miss Imperfect L1ght. If anyone seriously finds anything, PM me or hit me up on expendablehitman. -
Adium 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 ate my passwords :(
entropicdecay replied to entropicdecay's topic in General Discussion
I'm happily chugging away on my PowerPC G4 Powerbook. -
I just tried to connect to AIM through adium (a mac client) and found out that it just demolished my primary account's password. The kicker is that I can still log into it through AIM express (and on my other computer) and my other two accounts haven't lost their passwords. I've looked on the adium site for potential help, but I haven't found anything on how to fix this. Other users have reported this problem with both builds. I thought an upgrade could help (it had been asking me earlier, I decided to download it later), but no luck. Anyone here think they'd be able to help?

Drinking Song - Rob Dougan There's Only Me - Rob Dougan Furious Angels - Rob Dougan Nothing At All - Rob Dougan Speed Me Towards Death - Rob Dougan Pollyanna (I Believe in You) - Catherine Warwick (not quite about heartbreak, but I like it) You're Not Here - Melissa Williamson (aka Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) Rob D's Drinking Song is probably your best bet.
