  3. The wife and I will probably be showing up again. Loved it to pieces last year.
  4. I'm not the biggest fan of it either. However (and it works actually fairly nice with this build) it generates dynamo stacks faster then any other of the signature spells. It may be something to do with how it's only single target, and I haven't tried spectral blade yet with it, but it's pretty much a 1-hit to 1-stack with dynamo. Shock pulse, any variation of it, is a lot less dependable to generate those stacks, and I believe the same of electrocute. I'm spamming Meteor as often as possible. That's where the dps comes from. MM is used to pick off runners and fill time when you can't hurl heavenly objects on monster heads.
  5. Double posting, just coming back to say: Nevermind, with templar buddy to slow things down/trip them up, you can indeed solo act 1 inferno with this build! At least if you don't get something too terribly nasty
  6. Sir_nuts: I'm currently running this build for inferno groups http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#akQROS!Tef!YaZccZ However, it doesn't work out so well solo. I'm really unable to kite effectively by myself, but if I have someone who's somewhat tanky, or can slow reasonably well, it does have decent survivability and dps...at least for act 1 inferno. Guess I should explain my build a bit. I have two items pushing my arcane power stack up a bit to 107 total with force armor active. However, this isn't enough to chain two meteors back to back. Magic Missle Attunement is there for two reasons. One, while I like shock pulse: orb more as a sig spell, for some reason, arcane dynamo seems to work best with magic missile of any sort over shock pulse or electrocute. Because of my lack of 120 AP, and no passives left to devote to ap gen, I use attunment to help me cast more meteors more often. I have to cast sig spells anyways due to needing to stack Dynamo. Dynamo is there as a massive DPS generator. It favors very slow, high damage spells. It's practically a must for both arcane tornado builds and meteor. Arc orb obliterate may also function well with it. 5-6 magic missile hits is enough to max the stack. And the buff is a multiplier...so molten impacts 338% weapon damage spell becomes a whopping 591.5% total damage. Add to that the increased damage from conflagration, which buffs all damage done to target by 10% for 3 seconds when hit with fire damage (meaning fellow party members get it to) from either a previous meteor or the hydra, and your meteor is doing a whopping 650% weapon damage if you get all the burning ground ticks in. That's before a crit. I regularly see 50-60k crits with a 600 dps weapon and 1165 int while solo. A note about Dynamo. It is consumed by Hydras, but does not buff hydras. If you use this build, and have a full stack, cast meteor first, followed by the hydra. The hydra will hit first anyways. This is probably the only high dps build that could possible use an un-runed skill. When dealing with runners or mulitple mobs, if you're having trouble getting the mammoth to hit targets reasonably (cast it behind you or close to you to get foes to run along the path), go with plain flame hydras. Less damage output then the mammoth, but more accurate when dealing with fast mobs, and less arcane power intensive.
  7. Whelp, that's it, I'm done. The real question is, who the hell is the player going to play as? Because no way in hell are we going to be allowed to control that guy.
  8. HTC or Samsung is the way to go. I have an older droid incredible, and love it to pieces. Literally. I've dropped the thing several times, and parts of the back case are missing, but it's still chugging along like the monster it is. My wife has the incredible 2 and it's filling every need of hers, and has spare battery power. She only charges it once every other day, whereas I have to put mine on the power teat every night, and that's with a power saving app that my wife doesn't even need.
  9. Pretty much anything thats easy to navigate with and play music for an extended period of time. Being able to hold most of my music library is nice, but not a requirement. I currently use a Zune HD. I have an 2nd gen iPod Nano that I abused the hell out of. I would probably get a touch for my next one, should the zune ever die.
  10. Indeed it is. I almost want to use it just because it's hilarious.
  11. As one of the few people who have not only played, but _owned_ the original cartridge, I can attest to the fact that it's pretty solid. Nintendo hard of course, but the best was to describe it would be LttP way before the SNES came out. Same style of sword swing, lots of various items that all did stuff, and all had to be used. Had an interesting sword upgrade system. The game made no sense to me until I could properly read though. Way too much text.
  12. We may have to plan a separate Minneapolis meetup. Looks like there's about 5-6 of us in a 2 hour drive from each other.
  13. My favorite drummer to learn from is Cobus. http://www.youtube.com/user/deedlebag/videos All drum covers, bunch of styles.
  14. I'm trying to hang out with both bardic and OA on a more regular basis, so there's that. It helps we live in the same area though. If there's more of you in the Twin City Metro area, let me know!
  15. Apparently Day9's roommate is the guy who coded the game. I heard about it on the daily last night, was kind of funny to watch an internet celebrity play this brand new game.
  16. I think what makes or breaks happy hardcore is the bass kick. If it's an obnoxious one, you hate it instantly. If it's awesome, like this one, it's awesome. Awesome track. Epic side-chaining too. You have the genre down pat.
  17. I'm personally a huge fan of Fat Tire 1776, but the Amber Ale is a good starter beer.
  18. That was YOU? Brain fail. I had nothing to drink, but I was pushing about 20 hours awake at that point. I had been up since 3am on Thursday, so I wasn't exactly remembering things.
  19. wat. really? Why don't I remember that?
  20. I find it funny that having sex isn't really worth anything.
  21. If you have to ask, we don't want to tell you.
  22. lol, yeah, I thought beer/soda, not ripped abs.
  23. Late to the party, but might as well chip in. 2011 was huge for both my wife and I, but mostly me. Spent half the year unemployed. Ouch Got Married, with no debt. Yay! Moved to Minnesota with no debt. Yay! Bought a new car. Yay! FINALLY FINISHED COLLEGE. Yay! Commited to MAGFest! Yay! So upcoming goals for 2012 Continue to develop my musical chops, specifically composition and keyboard. Release an original track. Compete in DoD again. Save up and buy a home. Kill off 1/4 of my college and car debt by the end of the year. 70k total to pay off, so about 18k over 12 months. Lose 10 lbs Stay employed through the year. Currently contracted, so small gaps in jobs (1-2 weeks) are permissible. Get wife involved in an online community outside of WoW. Working on OCR, but if she goes somewhere else, that's awesome as well. Stop raiding in WoW, pick up new hobbies. Prep for MAGFest again in 2013 Travel to China or Greece Learn beginner Mandarin
  24. I have to say thanks for this guide. Helped me find good food, Nando's saved my stomach on Thursday (had crappy hotel food earlier, never again)
  25. Now that I'm up and at work, and don't have to worry about things such as time and overall awareness, here's my pro/con list, and also things I need to remember to do next year. Pros: -Meeting Stemage, Virt, Zircon, Mustin, Danimal Cannon, Danny B, and Benjamin Briggs, and then fanboying over each of them. -So many awesome bands. Armcannon and Metroid Metal melted my face off. Virt got everybody actually dancing. Uematsu pulled in a huge crowd, and did not disappoint. -Meeting as many of the OCR crew as I did. Thanks for putting up with me and my wife, I almost felt like I was elbowing my way into things. -Getting hugged by Snappleman -Wife being impossibly cute with her ChainChomp hat she got. -Names/faces remembered and introduced to: Amphibious, Prophetik, D-Lux, Zircon, Pixietricks, Darkesword, Abadoss, Benjamin Briggs, OA, DragonAvenger, Dio-trans (pronounced dye-o, not dee-o), Fusion2004, Rama, Starla, DannyB, Snappleman, virt, Mustin, Stemage, Bahamut, Vimk, Level99, Overcoat, Gario, Garian, theshaggyfreak, Brandon Strader, BardicKnolwledge and wife, drunk LuketheXjesse. -Seen, recognized, but no chance to say hi: Prince of Darkness, Norg, Uematsu (saw him on my way out of the hotel, nobody was around him), Mazedude, Dhsu, and probably a few more. -Guidebook app was amazing. Nuff said. -chiptune dubstep. Virt made wobblebass Cons: -No electronic communication with people. Although there was a pseudo call list, I didn't get any calls or texts. All contact and information was happenstance. Need to either develop or use a way to get all OCR people on the same page. Mass texting is no good. -Awesome Panel/Awesome Concert overlap. I left and missed several big panels because big things were happening over at the chiptune stage / 2nd Stage. I know others were having the same problem, and it's bound to happen. -Concerts were too loud, making me bail out on the Thursday ones. I know they're supposed to be loud, but I like not having extensive hearing damage. I think of all the ones I went to, virt's show was the only one that wasn't unbearably loud, and I still ended up using ear plugs. This con is more a problem with concert culture than with the guys running the shows. -I feel old: I really wish I could have stayed up later a few nights, but once I hit about 17 hours awake, it becomes very hard for me to remain cognent. Add in having to make sure wife is up for it (she's very new to the entire community) and I end up having to retire early pretty much every night. -I missed a ton of people. Because of the OCR block split, I didn't get to interact with about a full 3rd of the ocr folk Next year: -Plan earlier, and get better flights. Way in took too long, way out was too early on the last day. -find a way to improve communication between all forumgoers. There needs to be a local irc chatroom or forum that's easy to access via phone. Maybe deploy a specialized irc chatroom/channel for live MAG? Keep it in perma slow mode so that that it's more twitterlike in it's use. -Plan a group meetup before opening ceremony? I know some happen later, but one of my larger issues was that I didn't really run into anybody until the ocr vs dod panel. Till then, I was floating about, pretty much on my own.
