  1. all that stuff you're talking about is software. a soundcard won't help with that. you just need to check the link in my sig to fix all that =)
  2. i wish more games were created with characters like Faith from Mirror's Edge involved. she wasn't anything too crazy, relatively normal clothes, and had severe limitations (like no health practically at all). and she made the game awesome, imo. there won't be more good female character leads until game designers get their heads out of their asses and realize how cool they can be once you get past the sexuality of it all.
  3. it's meant to encourage you to visit the datalog constantly. they put so much info in there, you're meant to read it. it's a western thing - look at, say, the codex entries in Dragon Age, as one limited example. it fleshes out the story without killing the cinematic feel of the cutscenes. just another one of the many outsider things they integrated in a way that i think is good for the series.
  4. spoiler fang got her memory back. she'll explain in a bit. basically, she figured out why her brand was messed up - because she'd actually fulfilled her focus, to a point, even if it was to save vanille. vanille's brand is still there because while her focus was fulfilled, she didn't do it. i think. -end- don't forget that the datalog changes based on information revealed in the game.

  6. i honestly thought that the first picture was a lung the first time i saw it. i listened to some of the previews on facebook, and i thought that this was pretty interesting. i think i might wind up picking it up after all. see, meteo, i'm not a total dick! =)
  7. the point of mono is that it allows for better overall sound quality for the same filesize as stereo. in other words, why it sounds like balls when you listen to one side of headphones only.

  10. i was rejected eight or nine times until i got one through the panel. even in the last two years, i've seen immense growth between the stuff i was making at that point and now. it's all technical, too - my compositional style hasn't changed, but from a technical side i can realize my music better now that i'm understanding much of what i've gotta do.
  11. tbh, most flash games are mostly the audio, and some images. code doesn't take up much space unless it's particularly complex. so don't be frightened by file sizes. my submission, for example, was 850kb, and it's a 54-second loop, at 128kbps. you could afford to go slightly lower and not kill your quality too much. most flash games i find sound like they're at 96kbps, which isn't great, but since it's mono it's a lot better sound than you'd get otherwise (even 128kbps stero is only 64kbps per ear, as opposed to mono where it's 128 on both).

  13. most of that music wasn't that great, in my opinion, in terms of fitting into your game. i think i'll submit something. i'm trying to choose between a few different styles, though. i might sub more than one.
  14. brandon, there are still tracks open in the first post. take a look. dafydd, can you send me a pm on the status of your windfish track? haven't heard anything from you in a while, and i wasn't sure what was there was done.
  15. we're still at least four to six months out, plus the wait to get posted between all the other projects that are way closer to being finished. also, written word takes an hour or two to get done, and most writers have more time to write (bus, train, bored in class) than they do to sit down and compose on a computer. we've got time. tal tal goes to whoever gets me a good wip first. i reserve the right to kick out crappy submissions =) same goes for windfish - if it doesn't get finished soon, it's available, too. last time i checked, it wasn't.

  17. catfish's maw is currently taken by a weird radiohead-meets-chips-meets-horrid-mastering version by sloopygoop that's actually going to have a place on the project itself =) looking forward to hearing more. also, last battle is available again. haven't heard from CN in at least a year. so, tal tal and last battle are currently available, and five of the six WIPs i've got are currently active (haven't heard from dafydd in a while). which is good. we're trucking along on the music side. almost time to get the other aspects working.
  18. i literally got a wip for it like a day ago and just haven't updated yet. sorry, dude - feel free to throw a wip down for any of the other tracks that are left. i'm updating the page now, we should have a few new ones opening up soon.
