  1. check out her site. i haven't seen anything from her in ages around here, but it seems she's still active in making music.
  2. newage works as a genre. it's all the stuff enya does. pixie's music is pretty similar.
  3. i thought the aids one was funny. and the wheelchair on on youtube.
  4. pci-e and pci are normal to have on one system. he was asking what your primary graphics card slot is, agp (dinosaur) or pci-e (new standard). that card is much better than the one you mentioned initially, and will blow dhsu's atifanboy () card out of the water. it's got twice the memory at twice the bitrate, a better architecture, and better heat distribution than those mini-coolers that the short cards have. if you can get it for 25 dollars, do it. and get more ram while you're at it, if at all possible. one new 2gb stick of ram is about 25 dollars, as well, and will allow you to add another 2 at a later point.
  5. hmm. this sounds like something to post in the NI bug forums. they're pretty active over there, all told, so they should be able to help you out. i'm not familiar with the interface, so my help is limited.
  6. xp sp3? if so, it doesn't ship with working drivers for hd audio. you'll need an addon.
  7. i'm kind of surprised that baba yetu got as much press as it did with the text being what it is, but it goes to show that people will listen to anything when they don't know what it means.
  8. i think i'll order when it's released, so i can pay more money. i want to support you guys.
  9. i got a song through the panel (with immense help from zircon), it just hasn't been posted...i promise! really!
  10. ah, missed that. it was a long-ass writeup with a lot of formatting, so missing something is to be expected occasionally.
  11. LIES. taucer specifically requested one in this song, so i had to suffice. it's pretty clear where i took over on the arrangement of the track, and that's the dividing line. i thought it was a suitable transition =) soulinether, taucer sounds fantastic, doesn't he? like i said in the writeup, they were originally just open fifths, but his voice is really easy to melodyne because of his tone. so it came out with him sounding just as good as if it was live. dunther, i saw that on my rss feed, too. i think it was just a glitch in the feed itself.
  12. i've got a basic arrangement down, but it feels REALLY close to reich's original piece. it's pretty, uh, liberal, too, as a remix, considering i used The Trendy as the source tune. i really only used, like, the first bar of melody, and just repeated it ad nauseum. that's all there really is in the OST anyways, that little melody snippet and a bassline that moves around. and, it's my project, so i can release any crap i want and call it a remix. we'll see how the recording turns out. gonna take forever to record.
  13. i was going to say something like this, but you beat me to it. he was a troll and a flaming asshole. if you said anything - ANYTHING - bad about his pet game, he flipped out and sent you harassing PMs. i remember he learned something new (or thought he did, at least) about the Nu, he just flipped out. it was pretty funny. that said, did they just delete his account, or just ban him? i don't see him in the memberlist anymore. he had a lot of posts, didn't he?
  14. 11, yeah. it's supposed to be a solo player with a pre-recorded (by them) accompaniment of seven other soprano clarinets and three bass clarinets (one of the bass clarinets switches between bass and soprano during the course of the piece). pretty awesome. reich is a master of pointillism. i've been listening to the piece for three years and i still am learning new things about his counterpoint.
  15. i'm more interested in a seperate mirror of the site's forums that's automatically rendered at 320x240 or whatever the standard mobile screen size is, similar to what gmail does with their mail. doesn't have to be an auto-detect thing, just a link that you go to. of course, that's just the forums - the site should be easier to mini-size since it's all dave's code, right? as for gear, how long ago was that? i don't remember it, so that makes it older than april 2004. consider the number of users that have come here since then. we're what, four times larger than we were?
  16. so, has anyone heard of steve reich's piece 'new york counterpoint'? there's a good chance i'm going to be using that as a strong influence for one of these songs. i'm working on it now. well, kind of. i'm going to bed now. i'll wake up in seven hours, shave my head some more (it's getting long), and write some music. but reich is brilliant! absolutely brilliant, i say.
  17. the first mix on here is called either 'bonesaw overdrive' or 'one wanged bonesaw', can't tell. EXCELLENT. i will be visiting, if i don't forget by the time i wake up this morning.
  18. i like star wars. i also liked where this series is going now. old star trek was boring as hell, and most of the movies were terrible. new star wars is interesting, there's less boobies than there has been (i love boobies, but not in space, and not when they don't make sense and/or are strange colors), and there's comedy in a way that isn't just stupidity. lotd needs to stop being a blatant (read: BLATANT, you dumb shit...you hold no credibility, you have numbers in your name for goodness sake) fanboy of 80s drama and move on. the series was stagnant, so they blew up vulcan. and nero ear-raped your mum.
  19. first off, is there any plans for making a mobile (pda, psp, etc) version of this website - specifically, the forums? i know that i'm not the only person who tries to access the forums through a psp, and i'm sure that other people are interested in using their iphones and blackberries to get online. second, something i'd love to see would be a hardware/software review forum built off of, say, the remixing forum. limit it to just new threads posted by members who've been around a while (to prevent spam), and have it also limited to just one post per item/subject. overclock.net does this pretty well with a custom interface, but i think that just using threads could be nice so that people aren't always posting "is [product] any good" threads in various forums. just some ideas that i've been thinking about.
  20. when you come back from idle, does windows play any sound? or is it only rig that doesn't work? check to make sure you don't have more than one audio driver installed, and if you're using asio drivers try reinstalling with the newest version.
  21. what do you use? kontakt? i got the player through a deal with another program, but i rarely use it.
