  1. madden 10 is coming out for the ps2. hell, madden 09 came out for the original xbox, i think. 09 or 08, don't remember.
  2. it's being released in Q1 2009, according to SE. edit: 2010, durr. thanks gollgagh.
  3. anso is the jrpg queen. he knows more about that stuff than anyone else i know.
  4. phantom power means you can't use almost all condenser mikes. condensers are generally used for vocals. therefore, having no phantom power means that you can't use pretty much every condenser that's any good and therefore can't really record clean vocals.
  5. haven't heard much hype about it. i mean, even N4G hasn't been posting much other than new screens lately. there's little discussion about it.
  6. so, is there a reason that i spent all that time on baba yetu if you guys were just planning on ignoring taucer and me the entire time anyways? the least you could have done was answer my PMs, for goodness sake. good interviews, though, i enjoyed them all.
  7. so, who else is starting to get excited about this? personally, i'll be preordering pretty much as soon as the different packages are announced. it's supposed to be early next year - i'm hoping on putting christmas money towards it.
  8. i was specifically talking about vocals. condensers are hit or miss with electric guitars. i don't play electric, so take my statements there with a grain of salt of course, a two-condenser setup is how i mic my acoustic - one over the fretboard and one over the tonehole.
  9. i record everything through m-audio's mobilepre usb-based preamp. it's fantastic. assuming that you've got something like guitar rig on your system to do the effects, it's your best choice. if you don't have a software-based amp modeler, you're going to have to talk to someone else - i don't know much about hardware in the guitar department. as for microphones, you just want a condenser mic. since the preamp supports phantom power (required for condensers), just get a mic with good reviews. i use a cheapie i bought from zzounds for about 70$, but you can find other good deals too. avoid the mics that plug directly into your usb port, since you can't upgrade down the line.
  10. i'm assuming that this is your riddle, right?
  11. you sent that my way a long time ago, didn't you?
  12. if you want, i discuss this in my computer faq that's linked in my signature. it's still in 'beta' phase, since i haven't proofread it yet, but it should discuss a little about what you're talking about. edit: never trust cisco techs. i had one tell me a while ago he stuck a sun sparc processor - think thousands of dollars, 16 cores with multithreading - in a desktop and it was good and all. something in me doubts that highly, considering that you can't buy them piecemeal and the servers they come in cost like $7k.
  13. theoretically, it'll give you more ram to use, but xp and vista don't really support it. so it's kinda useless.
  14. you're welcome, jg. i posted that simply because you gave very wrong info not only here but in another thread that was asking about the same question. one time i'd have let slide, but when i saw both i figured i'd, uh, let you know. what you also forgot about is that 4 gigs of good ddr2 800 memory is 41$ shipped at newegg right now. upgrading for 4 gigs isn't a big deal, but it's cheaper than any other upgrade to do to your system (besides adding a dvd-burner), and THAT makes 64-bit computing worth the time. plus, if more of us do it, more people will start writing for it...and then it'll become more mainstream. and, when you're working on huge music files, that last 800 megs actually can be the difference between bluescreening and being able to work on your song. particularly if you're running several instances of large, ram-heavy programs.
  15. sold! to the lurker in cali. is that right now, kanthos?
  16. i was going to post here and make fun of you for liking jpop, but that song is really great. good work, man!
  17. i guess i'm just frustrated because there's no real reason for doing this. it'd be like having landline phone companies start charging per call once you're over a minimal limit - it's just not feasible. the 25% of people that are on the bottom end are all grandparents who check their email for pictures of their grandkids, not REAL consumers of internet functionality. this doesn't limit piracy or anything like that. it just bones people who are trying to use the net like it's meant to be used. i just can't see any way that this actually benefits time warner.
  18. and with that, bahamut saves the day. check your permalinks in the first post, people - if it was going to a specific numbered post in this thread, make sure it's still going there. he deleted twelve posts to make it work, so all the permalinks are screwed up. if yours is messed up, post what it should be and i'll fix it.
  19. whoa, i never heard anything about this. do you know if they're planning to expand this to other sectors of NY? specifically, CNY? there's no one else besides time warner out here at a decent price, and if they pull this i know that i'll be screwed. between streaming videos and legal bittorrent downloads, i'm well over 40g a WEEK, let alone per month.
  20. oh, hey, i keep getting your IMs but you're not around when i am. sure thing, just contact me tuesday night. sorry about the delay, again.
