is it a free-flying scroll wheel? my logi revolution mx has a wheel that will scroll freely when i throw it in a direction rather than slowly scrolling. there should be some way to disable it and link the weight/brake back up to the wheel through the options if that's what it is.

beat me to it. i should point out, Shiby (or whatever the hell your name is), that if you're offering to do this for free you're almost definitely fitting into two of these three categories: 1. under the age of 19 or 20 2. a poor musician 3. someone who won't stick it out to the end of a project the only reason to compose for free for any game is because you can't get a job doing it elsewhere. if you ARE a good musician, advertise that you'll charge competitive rates, not that you'll do it for free.

a repair installation would definitely take care of it easily, but there's gotta be ways that aren't so lengthy and power-user-ish to do it. try getting HijackThis and running it. post your log from that, and maybe i'll see something i recognize. edit: also, try downloading the sysinternals Process Manager. it's an advanced form of task manager that might help me out in figuring out what's there and what's not. see anything specific that's not supposed to be there?

hah, parallel port printing? that's REALLY old, most printers in the last ten years use BIDI, which is the super-long port that has the printer near it on most motherboards. biggest port in regular use today (just slightly bigger than IDE).
