i've actually never played kingdom hearts. i own it now, but haven't gotten to it yet. i'm of the opinion that key changes are used in the absence of good melodic material. we don't run out, so we don't need to 'extend' the mix with a key change. they're just for pop and kitsch, to make bad songs longer.

step one: restart after installing any audio drivers. no matter what. step two: make sure your recording software - audacity, or whatever - is recording that input. step three: make sure you're plugged into the right thing. sounds dumb, but there's a difference between mic and line, make sure you're on the right setting.

oh, it's cool, no worries. after doing ToF, i understand when you've gotta decide between more content and a release date. my issue was more just that no one contacted me about it, even thought we'd been done for like six months or something. it'll still get posted, so i'm not worried =)

phantom power means you can't use almost all condenser mikes. condensers are generally used for vocals. therefore, having no phantom power means that you can't use pretty much every condenser that's any good and therefore can't really record clean vocals.

haven't heard much hype about it. i mean, even N4G hasn't been posting much other than new screens lately. there's little discussion about it.

so, is there a reason that i spent all that time on baba yetu if you guys were just planning on ignoring taucer and me the entire time anyways? the least you could have done was answer my PMs, for goodness sake. good interviews, though, i enjoyed them all.

so, who else is starting to get excited about this? personally, i'll be preordering pretty much as soon as the different packages are announced. it's supposed to be early next year - i'm hoping on putting christmas money towards it.

i was specifically talking about vocals. condensers are hit or miss with electric guitars. i don't play electric, so take my statements there with a grain of salt of course, a two-condenser setup is how i mic my acoustic - one over the fretboard and one over the tonehole.

i record everything through m-audio's mobilepre usb-based preamp. it's fantastic. assuming that you've got something like guitar rig on your system to do the effects, it's your best choice. if you don't have a software-based amp modeler, you're going to have to talk to someone else - i don't know much about hardware in the guitar department. as for microphones, you just want a condenser mic. since the preamp supports phantom power (required for condensers), just get a mic with good reviews. i use a cheapie i bought from zzounds for about 70$, but you can find other good deals too. avoid the mics that plug directly into your usb port, since you can't upgrade down the line.
