I'm very curious as to where they are coming up with this $500 million in lost profits figure. No way all of those people who downloaded the files were actually going to go see it in theater or buy it. As far as I'm concerned, they pulled that number out of thin air. EDIT: I'm going through the indictment right now. I just came across this little tidbit and was very amused... "In exchange for payment, the Mega Conspiracy provides the fast reproduction and distribution of infringing copies of copyrighted works from its computer servers located around the world." Um...whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Oh yeah... pretty much the defense of anybody trying to hide something. Really, that link is pretty much garbage, when it comes to supporting SOPA and PIPA. Copyright law is pretty much the easiest of all of the IP cousins (patents, trademarks, trade secrets) to understand. It really isn't that hard to understand, either. Of course, the point his saying that was to pretend that he understood how SOPA's opponents could misunderstand the bill. Smarmy asshole. I really hate it when people twist the facts and pretend their version of reality is so plainly obvious that anyone who doesn't see it their way is stupid. Also, don't put lawyers on the same level as Congressmen as far as intellectual capacity. Even Congresspeople and Senators that were originally lawyers undergo a massive lobotomy before they assume office.

I wasn't necessarily saying if they blacked out, but if they had a banner at the top of the page talking about SOPA/PIPA and why it's bad, then Hell would really rain down on Congress. On the other hand, I can understand its decision not to. They have a lot of power by directly reaching out to users. It's important that they only use it in the most dire of circumstances so as not to hurt their business model (as you mentioned), and so that the option remains an effective one.

If Facebook and Twitter did ANYTHING, then it would spell the end of SOPA/PIPA. Lamar Smith is a grade-A douche voluntarily putting his head up his own ass.

EDIT: Okay, so halc's team and Ben Briggs's team are essentially neck-and-neck going into Round 10? Will this rivalry spell the end of Insert Rupee? <cue dramatic music>

I agree that MM6 has a pretty accessible score. I actually would rank it in the top half or third of all MM soundtracks. The robot master themes are all pretty solid, but the best part of the soundtrack is Mr. X's Fortress.

MM4 music is definitely one of the best, but it does seem to be a bit underrepresented in these compos. AeroZ took Toad Man in GRMRB 2011, and prophetik has Dust Man and LuketheXJesse has Skull Man in WCRG 2011, but that's it. Three robot masters over the course of three compos. Agreed. At the start of GRMRB 2011, Darke encouraged people to pick robot masters that were absent last year. Some did, some didn't. Hopefully, more people do in 2012.

Quoted for truth. I'm really surprised more people don't do Quick Man and Bright Man. Bright Man's probably ignored because he looks like a fat, bald guy. Also, a lot of people were actively pushing for someone to pick Tengu Man's theme from the Sega Saturn version earlier on. Was pretty close to having Jewbei pick it, but then DarkeSword changed up the way he selected robot masters and he did it randomly. So no Tengu Man. By the way, you should go vote in the social group! EDIT: Cuz the posts don't disappear when he comes back, and I'm nearing critical mass for how much I can take emoticons being thrown at me.

To each their own, I suppose. If you look at Txai's third round track in the GMRB 2010: clocking in at 2:17, but still winning the round against prophetik handily. It's not that a low length is an automatic disqualifier. It's that the song just has to kick that much more ass if it's short.

Whoopsies, I guess I forgot one! Derailed at Wily Temple - I really actually enjoyed this one. Great arrangement, great production, and just a really fun mix; I really like the distortion (I think that's what it is) effect. Your songs throughout the compo have been great at creating the soundscape of a train level in a Mega Man game, which fits perfectly for Charge Man. The title fits this one well, too, since you can see it being used after the train has crashed and the player is charging into the final level. Awesome work!

Whew, been really busy this week. Finally time for reviews! Splash Damage - Best one yet, Brandon. Still trying to decide where it fits into in my ranking [EDIT: looks like it's #4 ], but it's up there. Reminds me a lot of Vurez's Odyssey at the Falls. Great stuff, and it looks like it's going to win this round!! Mega Breeze - Another new direction for WillRock, and I like it. Very ethereal soundscape, which is definitely something new for Mr. Rock. I was kind of unsure about it when I first heard it, but it's really grown on me throughout the week and I think it may be my favorite so far from this round (and definitely my favorite of WillRock's from this compo). Nice finish! flames of youth - I don't get sick of your mellow stuff. You are able to keep it original-sounding enough, too. This one reminds me of "hard day's night," which was my favorite from GRMRB 2011. It's one is a close second, despite your earlier complaints about it. Final Stand in the Castle - If not for the short length of this one, it would have broken into the top 3. It's definitely one of the cleaner sounding mixes of yours, and the arrangement is really great, too. The length, again, is the only complaint I have. Really nicely done. I would love to see a longer version emerge! We Were Once Robots; Then We Took A Megaman To The Knee - Another song that would have made this round way more difficult than it already is if it were a minute or so longer. But I really have to say that this one is awesome. Just a spectacular improvement over your earlier stuff. You've come such a long way since the GRMRB Exhibition Match. I would really enjoy seeing a longer version of this one, but it's pretty awesome how it is now. Disconnect - Your style has really grown on me throughout the compo. In fact, The Fall is one of my top 15 or so songs from WCRG 2011. Where I used to hate lyrics, I've come to love the cheesiness. That said, while Disconnect isn't quite as catchy to me as The Fall, it's still very well done, and it has a great arrangement to it. Nicely done, and I'll be watching your stuff more closely going forward! Night Train to the Deep Jungle - Very Apocalypse Now. Very fitting for Search Man, I suppose. While this one isn't quite as aligned to my personal tastes as I Dreamt of a Man with Two Heads, it may actually be more well done as far as production and arrangement goes. Great job, and great improvement over the past couple of months! Raging Reptile - [at the Disco?]. Anyhow, awesome stuff. Looking back, I have noticed a great injustice: I never voted for any of your songs. Yet, I have been listening to them a lot. Although a third place vote does not completely balance out my karmic debt, I nonetheless am going to proceed with that plan. I really enjoyed this and all of your other mixes from this compo. Thanks for the awesome musics!!
