  1. Holy shit, 16 years.  I found the site about a year into its existence, back when most of the remixes were posted by djpretzel (I also downloaded my fair share of McVaffe (whose midi's I had listened to well before the foundation of the site), Scott Peebles, and AmIEvil remixes).  I even still have a large number of those original files (with albums tagged as "http://remix.overclocked.org/").

I had been an avid fan of video game music before the days of mp3 when all I would have to listen to were midis and songs in Module file formats (MOD, S3M, XM, etc).  Most of you kids wouldn't remember those days, but the advent of the mp3 changed things so much, allowing for a site like OCR to even exist.  I owe so much of my music library to OCR, and it's helped me maintain my interest in and love for video game music into adulthood.  It's helped me expand my taste in and appreciation for different kinds of music, and I still rely on the site for providing me with new music even today. That's not to say that I also don't occasionally enjoy looking through old remixes and reminiscing about when I first downloaded some of them a decade ago :)

  2. Recently shared via Toonami's Facebook page:

Adult Swim is excited to announce that JACK IS BACK. Creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season that will premiere on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in 2016.

The new season is currently in production in Los Angeles at Cartoon Network Studios.

I don't know if it can ever be the same without Mako playing Aku, but I am still very, VERY excited for this.

  3. I know that I've been less active in the past year or two, mostly because of having a second kid (which is way more work than only having one), but also because I've gotten busier with work, too.  I don't know about any diminishing interest in nostalgia, because OCR itself has a lot of nostalgia value for me, having started listening to mixes from the site back in 2001.  If anything, I think that the normal consequences of life have just gradually taken people away from the site over time, and there haven't been as many new users cropping up to replace them.

I really do love this site and want it to continue to succeed, so it may be something that I have to actively remind myself to check in on more often.  And I never regret digging through the archives for remixes that I may have missed over the years.

  4. i supposed i missed the last round by a misunderstanding, so i only have 2 done and im more proud of the first one (Arsonist) than the jumpstyle one i did.  All you guys are mega talented and I really enjoyed listening to everything so thanks for the good times <3

Really enjoyed both of your mixes, though Arsonist was definitely one of my favorites from the entire compo.  Hope you can join another in the future!
