  1. Those screenshots look rather... gruesome. Hopefully it'll be something like Ninja Gaiden if anyone is picking up a hint on how to do successful revivals.
  2. The only bad thing about the game is that it seems to have regressed a bit as far as the comedy goes (what happened to the constant laughs from San Andreas?) and the gameplay is still a tad bit inferior to Saints Row's. The multiplayer is fun as long as people know what the hell they're doing, which they don't most of the time.
  3. It's really sad when the fans of Sega is one-upping Sega themselves. Imagine if Nintendo fans made better games than Nintendo..
  4. I think the incredibly high score accumulates from all the content of the game. There's more in the game than 3 or 4 games I've played, including Saints Row, which Rockstar ripped a lot of their new mechanics on.
  5. Why are people complaining against the modus operandi of the videos themselves? Of course it's not going to be interesting at times because the normal buster is usually too weak. If I wanted something truly entertaining, I'd opt for Tool Assisted videos that actually works towards being entertaining. Also, I don't think these types of videos are for casual gamers at all.
  6. I think GTA games officially got started in Vice City. Because it started becoming 90% comedy instead of taking itself seriously like GTA3. San Andreas was basically a complete comedy. Now they seem to be trying to make it into a serious story which is a nice turn of events. Also, I'm totally going to the midnight launch to buy it off the shelves. I can't wait one second. I haven't been this antsy for a videogame... since Brawl.
  7. Sure, if you're going by our definition of an Otaku in that sense. But in Japanese terms, it could go with any hobbies, though their culture just seriously deplores the nerd/geek stereotype anyway. I don't think most westerners give a crap about our little titles for the most part.
  8. Objectively I still think Japan is probably the best of all worlds. Ancient culture, modern culture, visual culture, music/fashion culture, etc etc and it moves a lot faster than it does in the West for the most part. But yeah, if you're thinking *realistically*, a white person would stick out like a sore thumb, the language/lifestyle differences are very obvious, and the cost of living is prohibitively high. I'd rather live in a crime driven hovel (oh wait I already do) for a very expansive apartment and live comfortably. As for Otakus, I think all the terms of elaboration is really unnecessary. It's basically more or less the same thing as the term 'nerd/geek' if you were to put it out as serious criticism. There's always that disconnect between the ideal and reality with hardcore nerds.
  9. Apparently FES fixes most of Persona 3's problems and gives it a proper ending. I'll ditch P3 for FES very soon. But still, I think the old P2 was one of the best one of the lot. P1 was okay-ish, but just about every other RPG game on the Playstation stood out more.
  10. Anime for Naruto is basically for those who stuck with it and waste time with it. Some episodes are genuinely incredible because they put 99% of their entire budget on the most crucial fights. Naruto, like most shonen (Bleach..) is best if you follow it in their manga form.
  11. Pretty good show. It is almost like Naruto except the main character is the avatar of apathy, totally unlike Naruto. And the plot actually moves (!).
  12. I think the noob stuff factors in if you add in a lot of items and stage-induced-deaths. Those can still get the hardest of veterans at times. 1 vs 1, not so much.
  13. Even then, the comedic original music and themes and radio too. The World Ends With You just doesn't let up with the cutesy J-pop. Reminds me of Jet Grind Radio in that aspect.
  14. No, he's right on some points especially with the audience. It's either the hardcore crowd that knows the material or the idiots who jumps in for the shits and giggles who never played half the games referenced.
  15. Finally got hands on the copy of The World Ends With You. Not only is this a finally some form of innovation in the DS in quite a while (thanks to all the rather rote sequels, as great as they are), but for all RPGs. Maybe it's just my love of J-Pop, but the game just might have one of the best soundtracks of the year so far. I'm sure GTA4 will blow it away in that department but it's great so far. Oh yea, the story and gameplay are amazing. That's really hard to say in RPGs in general but I'm saying it.
  16. Some pirate torrent sites are the best bet IMO. Search Imperishable in Piratebay. I think the games are very hard but I still think Ikaruga is the most unforgiving at times because Touhou games at least don't throw the terrain against you. As for hard mode, it sometimes is too stressful to play that. I let the pros/obsessives put on a show on Youtube. And as for the fanbase of the games, it's strange how the relatively lousy character art is redone a lot too. I don't think it's necessarily because the music and characters are huge standouts other than that the game itself has a cult following.
  17. Kaiba looks like it's the artistic one out of the whole group. Can't say it's a must watch because it's so abstract and weird, but I'm pretty impressed by it. It is trippy to say the least. Also, Daughter of Twenty Faces had one of the best first few episodes of the season. It's like the old Lupin and Sherlock Holmes thief adventures done with a style. As for Golgo 13, I'm unexpectedly liking it a lot too. Not bad for one of the oldest manga of its type.
  18. It doesn't feel all that 'super slow' because the show is just that detail oriented and has such spot on dialog even for the 'mundane' scenes.
  19. Could've been a joke or something. That is way too blatant..
  20. At the rate it's going, it should rightly win the Emmy's if Dexter doesn't ramp up anytime soon. Dexter should've won over Sopranos last season anyway. I can't get over how funny each episode is even if the subject matter (Meth) is pretty serious.
  21. Lelouch is having the old 'everyone watching my moves but I need to do all the craziest shit nobody can get away with' act like with Light in Death Note. That was great. Can't wait to see more.
  22. Maybe you're right in the way that MGS5 or something might push it further. Actually, it should anyway. As for the whole controversy, I think it more revolves around the hardware in itself and not MGS4 entirely. The bottleneck of memory was always suspected and now more developers are being upfront about it. That just doesn't sound good for Sony IMO.
