Damn GodHand looks like way loads of fun. A personal favourite of mine has been Chaos Legion for PS2 and PC, great hack and slash gameplay with rpg elements where you equip legions that you summon to the battlefield, with awesome power ups, the more you level up the legions is the best part cause you get to keep their abilities without keeping them equipped when they're maxed out, so eventually you power up your favourite ones whilst kicking ass with your character amazing special moves. Great gameplay, reminded me of classic retro action in a 3D game with cool bosses to boot. Then when you're done you get the option of playing as a girl with guns which still made it fresh for me (for the love of god never play this game on easy mode you will be pissed). It got quite hard with some trial and error to the bosses, and it takes a while for the true gameplay to kick in but there's stuff to unlock on each level with legions and has some good replayability if you love that sort of thing. It's a bitch trying not to use health items, you'd rather spend your points on your legions. Eventually you're kicking small armies of enemies asses with just your sword and some cool legions on your side. Oh yeah then there's a secret legion to unlock, which you use at the start of the game...so kickass. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HnCEeVbMH84&feature=related I wanna play this again now lol. p.s: fantastic soundtrack, makes me want to remix it again.

Kawashima's Brain training 3 anyone?

Man I could do that all day. Wonder if it would work as a funky lie detector? You could even make one that makes popcorn!

It depends on how many songs you're doing, and what the purpose is. And also depends on how good you are too and what you're capable of. But a developer might let you be free enough to go about the music your own way. In my experience, a 20 song soundtrack can take a couple of months, could take longer or less even. If the game is like some action arcade game its pretty safe to say you would go about it your own pace and churn whatever you want out. An RPG though could take a very long time as you're waiting to find out what you need to do and how things are gonna be put together, and get something in mind for the music you'll be doing like characters. I've been working on this RPG chrono crisis (sig) and its taking a long time because of the amount of free time available since its not money making and then everyone needs to be doing their part. Over maybe...3 years, on and off, I've managed to write nearly 100 songs for it. Sometimes it would take me ages to get stuff done, but sometimes I could do like 3 songs a week or more. Then again a developer might only you give a certain amount of time to do the soundtrack, so you just bite your lip and go for it as best as you can, even if you can't write songs to the best of your ability.

Wow they look shit, also...why would you want to play as Old Snake again. Seriously why would you want to be old man snake for a second time, old snake is worse than Raiden!

Oh god no, not this bastard! I wanna spit on this retard, and do what that other guy said...crush his death seeds. Just because I don't like him. So what if he's challenging people to beat him, he's already spent in my eyes. Get yawself in a convenience store. -
Damn he still makes these songs, crazy bastard! Still awesome though, I remember the touchtone genius from loooong ago haha. He submitted his mario mix here once, but it wasn't considered a remix so it was nooo'd. But yeah he's quite creative isn't he, just listening to this swinging brass band one he's done, that's quite cool.

I can get a sort of smooth run going but its kind've hard to keep up, the guy usually just keels over on his toes...to which I laugh my ass off everytime but damnit I won't be happy till I RUN this 100m with a big sexy jump on the end. The way I run is by holding W + O, then holding Q + P with that slightly, so he brings his leg up a tad, then just hold Q + P, then repeat that. I managed around 50m of smooth running once.

OCR01786 - F-Zero "Eat Your Own Dust"

Great song, I'm loving the feel of this one. Very crisp, very clean. At first I thought the bass come off as a little strong but it works out. I think it gets busy and empty at just the right points, and its a very unique take. They key change was a great idea. I'd happily have this on in the background. Also I love the eggshaker, and the effects on it make it awesome, reminds me a little of this awesome song I heard ages ago called Bad Behaviour. Don't think anyone would've heard of it...anyway compositionally sometimes it feels like the instruments should do a little more in areas, but where it counts there's enough support to make the leads enjoyable. I never review, what am I doing lol. -
I used to play Operation Winback over just to hear the music, and the gameplay was alright for N64 but got tiring after 2 completions of it. I couldn't find the music anywhere on the internet so I kept going back to hear the cool infiltration music.

Soundtracks for a game, and contracts, etc.

For music to make royalties it needs to be copyrighted. And for them to make the royalties it needs to be licenced. The person gives you the permission to use the song and in turn say...based on certain sales of the game then they would make a very small percentage of that sale. Although I'm not sure how this would work for a game where royalties are concerned, and if your game is for free then no-one makes a profit. I would've thought that if you were to licence a song to your product you would negotiate a one off fee to have the song used in your works. It's sort of similar to a synchronisation rights and royalties contract where say a song is used in a movie by a band. In any case I would love to write some music for your game if you need it, my email is roea14@yahoo.co.uk and I can provide various works to showcase ability and work under specifications. I won't charge for the use of the song/s only that it is credited. -
Haha "let us never speak of this again" XD On expert we made it all the way to the last room with the gun turret but...fuck man, we got raped. I encountered a witch right near the end and we took no chances, all pounded the bitch with lead and I even threw a molotov on her even when she died, I was that distraught.

I joined the OCR group, loving the demo but goddamn it's fucking hard doing the game on the hardest difficulty, even on co-op. I think to make the game more fun I will always play on the harder difficulty, makes it so damn tense! Awesome game.

Sweet I really liked Jet Man, and yeah the Mega Man sound is nailed. Nice job on the melodies and keep working!

The song is great I can't wait to pick up the game. I put down the notes into Midi, I didn't do the whole song but just the melody and the chords there. http://www.fileupyours.com/view/219375/Mirrors%20Edge%20MIDI.mid I got 110bpm, 4/4

RoeTaKa - Mind Over Matter. New Song!

Haha I always enjoy your comments Txai, glad you're still around these parts! Creating is beautiful, it's something you can never be ceased to be amazed at. Thanks alot for listening. I hit up your song Ross! I can always count on ma buddy. Maybe I'll get to speak to you soon and catch up, and you take it easy too, you stud . -
Ross! Long time bud, long time. I haven't heard anything new in ages but I've definately hit on your songs now and then. Loving the intro it sets a great atmosphere and for two very good reasons, the build into the middle section and the interest of the way the synths are working up untill the main melody, which is sweet. Alot better than some futuristic game OST's I've heard but I don't wanna try and compare to games, since this sounds in a better league. I'd love to hear more build on the strings and crazy synths from the beginning later on, with more of that sweet lead synth. Be confident with what you know is kicking ass in this song, play on those strengths, you know we all wanna hear dat shit! Thanks for checking out my song man, definetly finish this it's really cool. I'll try and keep tabs around here! Can't wait to here more RK in the hood.

So I'm regularly busy with projects for various people, and don't really get alot of time to do my own thing. Today I made a new song and wanted to post it around, it's an electronic-dance piece with a focus on piano melody. http://www.fileupyours.com/files/219375/Alex%20Roe%20-%20Mind%20Over%20Matter.mp3 (I'll put it on a proper ftp soon) Hope you all enjoy!

OCR01773 - Banjo-Kazooie "Malevolent Mansion"
RoeTaKa replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Usually I find OCReMix stuff over the top and taking a song to the extreme, but I think this is brilliant, in a sort've really fun and cool way that people aren't really doing with remixing. This is FUN I listen to it alot actually. -

It's boring and suffers from squidgy synths. -
