I feel I should mention, I did a few touch ups to spots of the first four bios I posted since early this morning. So if they were copied over by anyone, please make sure you copy the slightly updated ones, as I had to fix a line or two.

Jedah 1997 Capcom -Story- While his true place and date of birth aren't known, Jedah was resurrected in the desolate outer regions of Makai, the Devil World. His past visions of what's to become of the world around him is something he's dwelled heavily upon. Under the reign of Berial, the head of the Aenslaed family and true ruler of Makai, Jedah has seen nothing but decay in the future of Makai. He has seen it as sitting on the cusp of oblivion, and in his mind, he believes the only one that can save it, is him. To save every being in Makai, Jedah believed every last soul must be united into a single soul. To Jedah, this would bring peace to all, as there would be no conflict. But to do this, he needed something... a container. One that would be strong enough to hold all the souls, and that would enable him to not make the same mistake he'd felt Berial did in the past. For this, Jedah concocted a plan where he would gather up the most valuable souls, and unite them with himself in hopes of making a container large enough to safely hold all the other souls. Jedah came into the traveling dark void called Majigen, with benevolent intentions. This void was his creation, and a container of its own. Here, he battled the other Darkstalkers that had come to the void. He left behind no one, as he took their souls into himself to strengthen his abilities for what was yet to come. Finally, with all defeated, Jedah's plan for the Devil World was set to be carried out. He was ready to go back and recreate life itself with a single life form, just as it supposedly had been done before. But before this could be done, he must first destroy another world. If the Devil World was to exist as the primary world, he felt that the human world had to be destroyed. For there, the ruler of the human world slept lightly, and he knew that if his plan was to come to fruition, he had to get rid of the human world before she fully awakened. -Quote- "I understand your opinion. Hsien-Ko 1995 Capcom -Story- Born in 1730, Hsien-Ko and her sister, Mei-Ling (called Lin-Lin in the third game) lived in a turbulent time of China's past. While they were still young, their mother was killed by a Darkstalker (quite possibly Demitri). Orphaned, heartbroken and angry, the two young girls set out to find who or what had taken their mother from them, not knowing the evil that awaited them. Their search didn't last long, for they were struck down by an evil force. As they lay dying, each made a vow. One swore to find and free the spirit of their mother, while the other would hunt down the powers of the night and destroy all the Darkstalkers. With this, they each released their final breathes, and their new quest began. They were reborn as Chinese ghosts with strange powers, giving them the ability to carry out their vows. However, their time to do this was not infinite. Slowly, Hsien-Ko and her sister were becoming the very things they hunted. If they were to free their mother and bring down the beasts of the night, they had to do so before the last of their humanity faded away. It took many years, but the duo confronted and bested all the Darkstalkers they found. They came face to face with Pyron, a powerful alien made of energy, and began a final battle of vengeance that didn't end until Pryon was laying on the ground, defeated. With their vows carried out, and the soul of their mother was free, the girls collapsed where they stood. But just as the last tendrils of spirit energy left their ghostly bodies, the spirit of their mother appeared. She told them that their sacrifice would not result in their fading into nothingness, but rather a chance at the life that had been taken from them so many centuries ago. At that moment, the essence of Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling were transported into the bodies of two newborn girls, and their lives began anew... free of evil, and filled with happiness. Or was it? On their sixteenth birthday, the twins each shared an odd dream. When they awoke the next morning, they could feel an unknown energy growing within them. Despite this, they went about their daily business, only to have their lives change yet again the next night. This time, they had no dream, but instead were engulfed in a nightmare. One so powerful that they became captive in a state of unconsciousness, and their souls were whisked away to a strange and foreign dimension. When they awoke in this new place, they found that they were dressed in odd, yet elaborately designed clothing. As they took in what was happening, they regained a power that had been lost in a time and life that came before eithers earliest memories. They came to the realization, that if they were to have any chance at returning home, they would need to combine their powers. Though they didn't know it, the void around them was Majigen, a place created by Jedah the Dark Messiah where he could absorb souls in his quest to bring peace to Makai by uniting all of its souls into one. Cautiously, the girls walked into the dark, evil spirit filled world before them... and it happily engulfed the them. Just as had been done in their post, they fought through the Darkstalkers, and eventually came upon Jedah. A trying fight ensued, but the girls came out victorious. However, they were still lost in the dark void of Majigen, and could see no way home. Just as they began to panic, an image appeared before them... one of a warmly smiling old woman. Hsien-Ko recognized the old woman from a dream she'd had, and wanted to know who she was. But the old woman merely smiled, and lit a path for the two souls to follow, assuring them that everything would be alright. The next thing they knew, the girls awakened from their nightmare. They were back from the terrible realm they'd dreamt of, and wasted no time as they quickly ran home... a place they were happy to see once again. They knew their mother would be so happy to see them safe, just as their real mother was. -Quote- "Don't call me the living dead. Thoughts LT? LT: The head/face of Rudo needs the same size/proportion of his picture as the others. Right now, his head looks a lot smaller. Once you have that, djp will likely pick either yours or nineko's closer POV style.

Thanks watkinzez Sorry it took so long to get these done. First it was mid-terms, then I got the chance to write everything up and look up all the games, only to realize how badly some needed a rewrite by the time I was done. That's when I got blindsided by finals. With any luck, I'll have the other three up tonight, though Bishamon's may be delayed a day. I need to play through Vampire Savior and see Oboro Bishamon's ending again to make sure I got everything (Oboro is the true Bishamon... he's a hidden character in the game). So that might bump it back a bit. Oh, and I didn't notice the quotes at first, so I just got done adding a quote to the four bios I posted.

I got your message, Dafydd. When Linearity contacted me, she said that she needed bios for all the Darkstalkers characters. Don't know if that meant she wasn't happy with hers or what, but that's what she told me back in March. Oh. And look... useful postwhoring

Lord Raptor 1994 Capcom -Story- Born in 1889 somewhere in Australia, Lord Raptor was what one could call, “Less than friendly”. However, his murderous lifestyle would enable him to cheat death some twenty years after he died. Ozomu, one of the Demon Kings of Makai, noticed Raptor, and chose to resurrect him. The Demon King gave him dark powers so that he might serve by ridding Makai and any other worlds of Darkstalkers. The zombie took this power and set out to do Ozomu's bidding. As he made his way through the human world, Raptor was introduced to metal music. He took a liking to it, and soon took up an electric guitar to trash out his own brand of speed metal (an odd trait given he was born in the Victorian era). But just as he was in life, so Lord Raptor was in death. Not one to be content spending an eternity serving a master, Raptor had a plan that involved more than just killing for the sake of gaining more power from Ozomu. But for his plan to work, Raptor had to do exactly that. As a result, the undead zombie tore a bloody path through any Darkstalkers he came across, until he finally arrived at Pyron, an energy-based alien of great power. Though seemingly out matched, the crafty zombie out fought the alien, and took Pyron down. With this victory, Ozomu appeared before Raptor, and granted him more of the power that he sought. But as Ozomu did this, he also reminded the undead rocker that while he would rule the world, it would still be Ozomu that ruled him. Such words did not sit well with Raptor, and the moment the Demon King left, the zombie spoke of his plans... to become the ruler of Makai, starting with taking Ozomu's place. And though Ozomu wasn't there to hear his words, Raptor's plans were far from hidden. Ozomu had learned of Lord Raptor's plan from Le Malta, a small creature that had been tagging along wherever the zombie went. The creature was in fact a spy for Ozomu, sent to keep an eye on Lord Raptor. But before any action could be taken, Ozomu disappeared. The now empty Doma Castle that Ozomu had ruled from, was engulfed in a raven-black rift that was a gateway into Majigen, a dimension created by Jedah, the self proclaimed Dark Messiah who sought to bring peace to a troubled dimension by uniting all its souls. Returning to where Doma Castle had been, Lord Raptor found the gateway into Majigen. He could feel the power coming from this rift, and knew that someone on the other side was waiting for him. Stepping into the rift with Le Malta in tow, Lord Raptor once again battled his way through the other Darkstalkers until he reached the one who had brought him and the others into this strange dimension... Jedah. After a fierce battle, Lord Raptor proved to be the better of the two. With Jedah's death, the power held by the Dark Messiah was unleashed, and Lord Raptor began to absorb it. The zombie could almost taste his plans coming to fruition as his body took in the energy. However, the power was too much for Lord Raptor's rotted form to handle, and the zombie rocker was blown to pieces by the very power he tried to take. But you can't keep an undead rocker down. Even as Lord Raptor's head fell to the ground, he still managed to mutter, "Damn! Got greedy again." -Quote- "What? Go to hell!? Morrigan 1994 Capcom -Story- In 1678, Morrigan Aenslaed was born in a region of Scotland. Taking her name from an ancient queen of Scotland, she is both the daughter of Berial (a Demon King and true ruler of Makai), and a succubus. Though she is a demon that appears before men in their dreams to draw energy from them in a most sexual fashion, Morrigan also leads a life of her own in the real worlds she visits and lives in... one that's carefree and centered around simply having fun. But this life of pleasure is often at the expense of a heavy burden that she's willing to set down on nearly any whim. Being the daughter of Berial, she was always the next in line to be the ruler of the Aenslaed family. When Berial died, it was her duty to step up and take his place. However, Morrigan didn't want to leave the fun life she'd become accustomed to over the centuries. As such, the throne for the Aenslaed family remained empty, and Morrigan continued doing what she enjoyed. Among those activities, were her occasional excursions into the human world. During one of these treks, she came across a number of Darkstalkers whom she fought for fun to alleviate her boredom. She would later come face to face with Pyron, a powerful alien made up of energy, and defeat him. After absorbing his essence, she returned to her castle in the demon world. However, while she played, other forces were at work in the shadows of her frivolity. To the Vampire lord Demitri, an exile from Makai who'd been banished to the human world when he challenged Berial and lost, Morrigan was an obstacle. He wished nothing less than to have her out of his way in one form or another so that he could claim the power he'd tried to get in the past. But Demitri wasn't the only one who had plans with Morrigan. Another Succubus named Lilith, who looked very much like a young girl despite being as old as the succubus she chased, not only wanted Morrigan, but needed her. Lilith had once been a part of Morrigan's power when green haired succubus was born, and was freed by Jedah (the Dark Messiah who wants to bring peace to Makai by joining all the souls there). She required Morrigan's body to continue to exist, and with this need, Lilith set out to find Morrigan. Because Morrigan's castle had been pulled into Majigen, a void created by Jedah to carry out his plans, it wasn't long before the two met. In a brutal fight, Morrigan bested Lilith. She knew that Lilith needed a body to stay alive, and at first, Morrigan simply taunted the young succubus with her body. In a moment of apparent pity, Morrigan knelt down next to Lilith as the young demoness was fading. After a moment, Morrigan held Lilith, and allowed Lilith to come into her body. With this, Morrigan's broken power was whole again, and everything around her seemed fresh and new. Soaring over the human world, Morrigan reveled in the new feeling, and couldn't help but wonder if it had come from that young girl she'd been confronted by. -Quote- "You're energetic as ever, just don't be in such a rush." -Games- DarkStalkers: The Night Warriors / Vampire (arcade 1994, Playstation 1996) Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge / Vampire Hunter (arcade 1995, Saturn 1996) Vampire Hunter 2 (Japan arcade only 1997) Vampire Savior: Jedah's Damnation / Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (arcade 1997) Vampire Savior 2 (Japan arcade 1997, Playstation as Darkstalkers 3 1998 , Saturn as Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire 1998) Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service (Japan Dreamcast only 2000) Marvel vs Capcom (arcade 1998, Dreamcast 1999, Playstation 2000) Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (arcade 2000, Dreamcast 2000, Playstation 2 2002, Xbox 2003) Pocket Fighter (arcade 1997, Playstation 1998, Saturn 1998 Japan only, Wonderswan 2000) Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (arcade 1996, Playstation 1996, Saturn 1997, PC 1998, Dreamcast 2001 as Super Puzzle Fighter II X For Matching Service, GBA 2003) Gunbird 2 (arcade 1998, Dreamcast 2000) Capcom vs SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 (arcade 2000, Dreamcast 2000) Capcom vs SNK Pro (Playstation 2002) Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium (arcade 2001, Playstation 2 2001, Dreamcast 2001, Gamecube 2002 with the subtitle "EO", Xbox 2003 with the subtitle "EO") Capcom vs SNK: Match of the Millenium (Neo Geo Pocket Color 1999) SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash (Neo Geo Pocket Color 1999, both Capcom and SNK carts) SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters 2 Expand Edition (Neo Geo Pocket Color 2001) Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection (Japan Playstation 2 only 2005) Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower / Vampire Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PSP 2005) Namco x Capcom (Japan Playstation 2 only 2005) -Sources- IGN GameFan Books "Night Warriors" guide GameFan Books "Darkstalkers: Jedah's Damnation" guide Darkstalkers game manual (Playstation) Night Warriors game manual (Saturn) Darkstalkers/Night Warriors/Vampire Savior Endings Mobygames Gamefaqs Wikipedia- Morrigan

Lilith 1997 Capcom -Story- Lilith's tale began at the same time Morrigan's did (Scotland, 1678). When Morrigan was born, she had an excessive amount of evil power within her. Berial, her father who was one of the kings of Makai and its true ruler, sealed off this power in hopes of keeping Morrigan from self destructing do to the uncontrollable nature of that power. But while Morrigan enjoyed her life of carefree and adventurous fun, the sealed power began to take on a shape of its own as it watch Morrigan. After three hundred years, this locked away power eventually took the shape of a young female succubus named Lilith Aenslaed. But Lilith wouldn't stay sealed off forever. Jedah called out to Lilith as she sat in her dark prison. He offered her a chance to finally have a body of her own, but only if she helped him gather up all the souls that he deemed as the most valuable ones. Lilith quickly agreed, and soon her dark prison was a thing of the past. However, her new found freedom came at a price. Lilith, still only being power given form, was slowly fading away now that she was no longer sealed. As such, her time to find a body was limited. But Lilith knew whom she wanted to be a part of. She wanted to rejoin with the person she'd been separated from centuries ago. She wanted, Morrigan. Setting off into the Majigen void, Lilith fought her way through any Darkstalkers that crossed her path, finding a strange joy in all the battles and the fluids that came from those she conquered. One by one, they fell before her, until Lilith finally reached the one she'd been seeking. With little time, Lilith took the fight to Morrigan, and proved to the be stronger fighter. Her victory came just as her physical form was nearing its end. Crawling with her last bits of strength, Lilith reached out to where Morrigan lay unconscious, and toughed the would-be ruler of the Aenslaed family's left hand. With her last act, Lilith successfully became a part of Morrigan once again. Though she lost her individual identity, she regained the body she'd been taken from. When Morrigan awakened, she had a new sense of rejuvenation. Everything seemed so much more alive and fresh to her as she took in the surrounding world. Once she returned to Aenslaed Castle, Morrigan put the Aenslaed ring on her left hand much to the surprise of her servants. She could feel the desire of her hand to wear the ring, though why it did was unknown to her. At last, Morrigan now showed that she was the master of the Aenslaed family. -Quote- "Oh no... why do I feel so... so hot?" -Games- Vampire Savior: Jedah's Damnation / Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (arcade 1997) Vampire Savior 2 (Japan arcade 1997, Playstation as Darkstalkers 3 1998, Saturn as Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire 1998) Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service (Japan Dreamcast only 2000) SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash (Neo Geo Pocket Color 1999, both Capcom and SNK carts) SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters 2 Expand Edition (Neo Geo Pocket Color 2001) Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower / Vampire Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PSP 2005) Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection (Japan Playstation 2 only 2005) -Sources- IGN Darkstalkers/Night Warriors/Vampire Savior Endings GameFan Books "Night Warriors" guide GameFan Books "Darkstalkers: Jedah's Damnation" guide Wikipedia- Lilith

Jon Talbain 1994 Capcom -Story- Born in England in 1940, Jon spent many years searching for a way to be rid of his werewolf self. Though he used martial arts to sharpen and strengthen his mind and body, the savagery of his hidden beast was something he wanted to leave behind. As if knowing what he wanted, at some point in his past, he was told by an mysterious woman that his curse would end the day he exceeded all his limits. With this in mind, Jon set out on a quest... a quest that would eventually bring him face to face with others like himself. Continuing to train in martial arts, he searched for ways to push himself further. It wasn't long before his path led to other Darkstalkers, and one by one, Jon fought his way through them. Having defeated all who stood before him, the werewolf reached Pyron, a powerful alien creature made up of energy. A vicious battle ensued, and Jon came out the victor. With this triumph, Jon changed back into a human, and for a time, he believed that his curse had been lifted. But as curses have a habit of doing, this one wasn't to be gotten rid of so easily. Some time after his battle with Pyron, Jon felt his body shaking. The animal that he thought had been tamed, had only been subdued briefly. Once again, his blood burned as the curse returned, and brought with it something dark... something primal. Haunted by nightmares, Jon learned that somehow the beast he had tried to free himself from had taken on a life of it's own with his very shadow. With no idea of how or why this happened, Jon had little time to mull it over before a faint voice began to call to him. It invited him from somewhere in the darkness. It was a call he couldn't refuse, as the answer to what was happening within him may have been at its source. His new journey took him from the human world, to the void of Majigen, a world created by the Dark Messiah Jedah, who sought to bring peace to Makai by uniting every soul there. Once again, he fought his way through the Darkstalkers, eventually reaching the shadow version of himself. Jon's mirror image taunted and belittled him for clinging to humanity, enraging the werewolf that it had been a part of not long ago. When words were over, a savage battle began, but it didn't take long before Jon stood victorious over the dark reflection of himself. He took a moment to ponder whether or not he should learn what his shadow-self knows. But in that moment of thought, the shadow beast wandered off, leaving Jon with a single remaining question... Should he go after his shadow-self and learn what it knows, or should he return to the world of humanity, where a pair of children, eager to learn the ways of martial arts, await him? -Quote- "Know that what you see isn't everything in this world!" -Games- DarkStalkers: The Night Warriors / Vampire (arcade 1994, Playstation 1996) Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge / Vampire Hunter (arcade 1995, Saturn 1996) Vampire Hunter 2 (Japan arcade only 1997) Vampire Savior: Jedah's Damnation / Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (arcade 1997) Vampire Savior 2 (Japan arcade 1997, Playstation as Darkstalkers 3 1998 , Saturn as Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire 1998) Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service (Japan Dreamcast only 2000) Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection (Japan Playstation 2 only 2005) Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower / Vampire Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PSP 2005) SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash (Neo Geo Pocket Color 1999, both Capcom and SNK carts) SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters 2 Expand Edition (Neo Geo Pocket Color 2001) -Sources- IGN Darkstalkers/Night Warriors/Vampire Savior Endings GameFan Books "Night Warriors" guide GameFan Books "Darkstalkers: Jedah's Damnation" guide Darkstalkers game manual (Playstation) Night Warriors game manual (Saturn) Gamefaqs Wikipedia- Jon Talbain

Hey guys. Just giving yet another update. With one final down, and the others close to completion (better be, since they're due this week), I started working on rewriting the bios. So far tonight, I've gotten Jon Talbain, Morrigan, Lord Raptor and Lilith redone and touched up. I'll work on the other three tomorrow, as I'm tired now. So four down, and three to touch up. PROGRESS!
-
here we go: for sure. everything looks fine with a transparent background, but it's hard to do when you resize something, because there are shitloads of stray pixels to remove. so a colored background is the lazy way to fix stuff Were you wanting something like this? LT: That's why I go for colored backgrounds. Then you don't get issues with rough edges like that.
-
No prob LT. I did a little more adjusting to them so they stood out a bit more. Here's the whole lot of them... LT: Excellent, bro. You're right, these looks even better than the first revision. Thanks a lot for brightening these up. When I selected these last time and saw them as a group, they all looked good, but I didn't notice how dark they were until comparing them to other avatars. This fixes them up nicely!
-
These better LT? Old- New- Let me know and I'll finish up the rest. LT: Absolutely yo. Thanks a lot for doing this.

Hey all. Just swinging by to say that the bios for all the Darkstalkers characters are basically done, but I intend to go through and rewrite the first three (one of those things where as you did them, you got better at it by the second half). I contacted Linearity a few weeks ago and gave her the same basic status update, but I've been swamped with finals work and second to final projects. As such, I haven't gotten to go through them yet. But with this semester coming to a close soon, I'll be able to finish them up. Anyway, they're basically complete, they just need some cleaning up. And you won't believe how many games Morrigan's been in

In a game that's supposedly the Dreamcast's last hurrah in Japan, there's a boss that's a real fight. In Under Defeat, you fly a rather powerful helicopter against waves of enemies. Now, some enemies are a pain, others are easily blown to hell in half a second. The bosses, in the first four stages can be challenging at times, but it's the final boss (fittingly) that's a real beast to fight. It's a big, BIG tank-like tower of guns. Besides having to destroy a serious amount of firepower on the front side on this thing, there's the main tower itself. On one side of it, you have twin miniguns, twin cannons, and a searchlight that, if you get caught in it, will turn the whole screen white and blind you. The miniguns are self explanatory. The cannons fire exploding shots that send bullets in all directions. And of course, there's a central gun in the middle of all this, that fires it's own special brand of bullets... the kind that spreads out as it travels by firing to either side of it. Should you get past all of this, then the tower rotates, and brings forth the BIG gun. This gun, is a monster. It fires a single massive shell that detonates off screen. The shock wave from this shell slams your helicopter forward into anything in front of you, kicking up a huge dust cloud as it does so. When the shock wave ends, bullets come streaming in from the direction of the detonation, covering much of the screen. The tank has a single weak point, and it's placed in a somewhat cruel area. I won't say where, as I don't want to spoil the battle for anyone interested in playing it, but you'll understand what I mean when you fight this thing. It's a very cool and graphically impressive game, and it's a great way for the ol' DC to go out. But the final boss is a real challenge.

If its from some old game system like SNES, Genesis, NES, etc. You can reduce the color palette to 256 colors (or 16 depending on the system). Also, if its a size reduction, use nearest neighbor interpolation instead of bicubic or bilinear. Gifs only go up to 256 colors, and for something like re-sizing, I'd personally stay away from "Nearest Neighbor". My reasoning is, that while Bicubic and Bilinear may make an image or a sprite blurry, Nearest Neighbor actually throws out pixel data. This makes reconstruction a lot harder, because at least some (if not a lot) of what you're working on just essentially vanished. At least with Bilinear and Bicubic, you can go in, clean up the image and redraw areas with the pencil tool so they're clearer... and you'd have a fuzzy guide remaining for what and where things are.
-
If the sharpening tool doesn't do the job, you may simply have to go in and sharpen it yourself using the pencil tool so you can adjust it pixel by pixel.
-
You've never played Alien Hominid I take it? That would be the main character, holding his gun. Here's the image I shrunk down and cleaned up... a lot. And yes, this is official art. The game originally started out as a single level Flash game, but it was later made into a full blown game for consoles that retained it's Flash-based graphics... I added in the second antenna on the little guy. Accidentally forgot it the first time, so here's the slightly updated one... LT: No problem. As far as video games, never touch the stuff.

Any thoughts on my Alien Hominid avatar, LT? Good? Bad? Needs work? afk? LT: Seems set.

I made another one, just because I was playing it a couple days ago... LT: I can't even tell what it is, per se, but sure. Probably just because I've never played it. Some alien holding a...jar. Let's assume of olive oil. Is this even a ripped sprite in the first place?

Konami's evil. It was said a number of times in the past within the hallowed walls of this thread, but I'm being reminded of it again. Why? Because the final (?) form of Dracula in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is just not fair. I've gotten to the point of actually taking no damage from his first form. I've had to replay this battle so many times, that it's gotten to that level. But as soon as I get warped away into the void and Dracula takes on that monstrous form, I just can't beat him. Long range attacks, up close and personal attacks... it'll like all the blocking that I learned how to do just became useless. Thanks to some of the battles that led up to this point (especially against a certain Belmont and Saint Germain), I had gotten pretty good at getting the perfect block so they get knocked back a bit (opening them up for a hammering). But this block seems like it does nothing to stop Dracula from pummeling you when he's up close. While I've gotten a bit better at dodging the long range beam and fireball shots, I'm just getting my ass kicked once he zooms in and starts swinging and leaving behind those damned blood trails. There's got to be something I'm missing. Most final forms have a pattern or set up that allows you to get in there and hit him repeatedly with at least some regularity, while also giving you the chance to get away afterwards. But in this game, I just can't seem find it.

I totally remember that fight, Coop. Did you ever beat her? I didn't, but then it wasn't my game, so I had limited time to try it out. I did, but it's the type of battle that luck needs to be on your side. Demona doesn't seem to have a pattern that I could make out as far as where she appears as she darts around, so I think you need a little good fortune to comer out on top. Granted, it'd been a while since I played, so I'm likely a bit rusty at this game, but I don't recall ever having an easy battle against her.

How many remember the cartoon "Gargoyles"? How many know that it spawned a video game on the Genesis? Well it did, and there's a final boss in it that's a pain. In the final level, you come up against Demona. However, this isn't a normal Demona... it's a super powered version thanks to the Eye of Odin. She really doesn't have that many attacks, but she's a hard little wench to hit. She's darting all around the screen in seemingly random paths, and while she's doing this, there are fire rocks hitting the platform that you need to stand on to hit her. This fire covers much of the platform when the rocks hit, and you have to dodge it. As you dodge it, Demona seems to have a nasty habit of streaking by and hitting you at that exact moment. The fun part of this, is that there are areas where, if you fall into them, you're dead right there. So besides Demona zipping around slashing at you, and fire rocks covering the one platform you can stand on, you have instant death waiting for you on both sides of that platform besides. This part wouldn't be that hard if it weren't for the fact that Demona's movements are damn fast. Your chances to hit her are limited thanks to her speed, and this makes all the swipings, fire and such result in a long, sometimes tedious, and frustrating battle.

OH! Ooooohhhhh... this is bad. Okay. So while I was at a local flea, I decided to pick up a copy of the original Darkstalkers game for the PS1. I'd heard various things about it, ranging from it being programmed by Psygnosis (published by Capcom), to it's being a better port of Darkstalkers than the Saturn version of Nightwarriors was of that arcade game. So, since it was damn near in mint condition, I figured what the hell and grabbed it for a whopping $7. Ho-ly shit. This game, is hard. I don't mean "you just have yet to learn the moves"-hard, I mean "GAH! MAKE IT STOP!"-hard. On one star, this game will kick your ass. On eight stars? Just give it up. The difficulty level of this game is ramped way up compared to Nightwarriors and Vampire Savior (Darkstlkers 3 for PS1 folk). I tried the game on four stars. After three hours, I got to Pyron, the final boss. I couldn't beat him. I honestly couldn't beat him. I'm rather good with Jon Talbain and Morrigan. I can beat both Saturn games quite handsomely on four stars of difficulty. But the PS1 Darkstalkers is just insane. Pyron moves so quickly from one attack to another, I was starting to think he was stopping one attack before it was actually over so he could do the next one. Jump in the air? Get knocked down. Stay on the ground? Get pummeled. It was a no-win situation. I don't know if the rumors regarding Psygnosis' programming the game are true, but whether they're responsible or not, the PS1 Darkstalkers game is a test of will and endurance... topped by an ego crippling encounter with the final boss. I think I'll go play Vampire savior on my Saturn on eight stars of difficulty. It's easier
