  1. This release has been out for a while, but vince showed me this on IRC when it came out and I was amazed at the quality, so I feel it needs to go in this thread somewhere: Yeah, there's everything from light rock to goa trance on this album. v0idnull's song is particular favorite. I COULD'VE DESTROYED IT! some of my buddies make it on this album too BYTE-Smasher, Troupe, Royal Sefton, etc. BYTE's song is weird and probably not meant to be enjoyed, but I love the songs by Troupe and Royal.
  2. Logic is extremely capable, yes, but with capability comes complexity. Another option for the Mac is Digital Performer. I've heard great stories from people who use both Logic and Digital Performer, but it's not like you can't make an OCR quality song with GarageBand: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01358/
  3. I really like Jeremy Soule [call him a robot who makes music that all sounds identical all you like, I DO NOT CARE I think it's pretty], so I'll check this out. I can also recommend that Septic Dreams album. It's very rough and raw, dark and ambient, but I think most people here are already used to CotMM's style [i hope]. Can anyone find his old Rl'yeh album? I haven't heard it in a long time, and I've forgotten it almost completely ;( though m68030 might prefer it that way, I dunno! It is kind of old.
  4. V-STYLE Who is this V-Style? That site seems a little overwhelming, though it's easy enough to stream the audio. I would probably find lots of good stuff if I looked through it long enough. It appears that already there is a high percentage of not me posting material in this thread. Keep this ratio up, that's good! In the old unmod thread it was just me posting mono/kahvi links every few days. I AM SO HAPPY T_T I should've made this thread in General Discussion in the first place.
  5. Here's another one from Kahvi: I'm so glad for the HTML features. Now I don't have to convert everything into phpbb forum code. Anyway, this is another good release, I can recommend this to anyone who's looking for a nice chill album. Good sounds, and good production in this one. The drumwork reminds me of my own in a way. HMM!
  6. I know Martin Penwald wants this thread to be alive again. I'm assuming since the other remade unmod threads aren't deleted by now, that means it's time for... The Free Music Thread! Because there's more than OCR when it comes to free music In this thread we post music releases by other people [or large projects you have created] that you find on the internets. I will start with one of the few netlabels I check regularly for new music, Monotonik. You'll see a pattern eventually. This release is a very weird one, but I love Khonnor's previous work for its oddball sounds and lyrical musical destruction, and this release is no different. Fans of normal music should probably stay away. Far away. This is more like the musical equivalent to dadaism, in a sense.Oh yeah, and I shouldn't have to remind you guys, keep it legal please. After all, there's so much music available out there that music piracy is practically unnecessary.
  7. Welcome back! Unfortunately you're coming back from "sectarian violence irl" to "sectarian violence on the OCR forums" but this'll probably die down in a week at least.
  8. I think I deleted that one because I didn't like Aurora's voice but it seems plenty of other people liked it anyway. I remember I really liked the instrumentation.
  9. You know, I should really do this. I think my list of musical obligations right now is pretty short, so... any time you're ready! I'm listening to Coactive right now, since that's all I have aside from "Haunting Memories" and "The Color of Battle." I might be able to do something with this.
  10. Found it http://compo.toastyx.net/ http://compo.toastyx.net/archive/2007/01/05/R1/votepack.zip - all the songs http://compo.toastyx.net/archive/2007/01/05/R1/Results.txt - results
  11. oc-balalaika [623.2kb] Xerxes thought it was good. "Minimalism at its best" he said. It got 9th place out of 11 compo entries. "Tough crowd" he said. I can't find the results .txt or the votepack anymore because my FTP access has been on and off lately, so the pack has been lost to time. But my song still exists, and I like it enough so here you go. Enjoy! The title and song itself were influenced by a certain character from the anime "Black Lagoon." Deformed but still incredibly sexy somehow. But I'm not gonna patronize myself. I didn't think about it that much.
  12. I saw the trailer for this a while ago It looked promising but the last 7 seconds ruined it with some guy spouting nonsensical ebonics. And you know, I HATE that stuff. Because I am RACIST!!!! Seriously though, the animation is sharp, the action looks cool, and they somehow got Samuel L Jackson and Ron Perlman. But for all the fuss over the RZA doing the music, the trailer music seemed mediocre at best.
  13. I'm not really interested in the effect itself, rather the method of editing the waveform. lol. I know Samplitude does something like that, unfortunately Cool Edit 2 [what I use] lacks all those neat mouse features
  14. What software lets you do that volume maximizer thing around 0:28? That was pretty cool, lol Good video btw
  15. It'd help to link to the song in the post! http://www.liquiddog.net/reunion/FRM-DRKN.MP3 Good thing I know where to go. This is an "interesting" release. The clicking melody goes on a bit too long for me, but this is progressive trance so that's probably proper. I like the sounds Freeman uses here.
  16. Instead of watching Mercer Island exploding, I opted to watch the Prairie Home Companion New Year's Eve Special on TV instead. It was pretty good.
  17. I'm going to watch Mercer Island explode
  18. There's a lot of things I should probably do. Make an album, sell my music to some huge depository of other shitty music for commercial use, get Anime Remix out of its rather dead state [HALP] even though that's not really possible, get a job and work on moving the fuck out of this house, get a car, get a few friends, a place to call my own... That's pretty much it. Oh yeah, and soon I'll get to work on writing that chiptune tutorial!
  19. Yeah that is a bit annoying. There's plenty of space to the right, there.
  20. There's like, tons Well, kind of. Check out the PRC thread. There's [for some reason] a bunch of original music competitions, which are fine too! But PRC is the only VG arrangement contest I can think of right now, except for the one-time FF7 remix compo zircon is using to get more songs for the FF7 project.
  21. I just set up my turntable to go through my computer today. Recording through a nice [old] Sony amp into Cool Edit Pro, the quality is OK. Stereo 16/24-bit 44.1 khz recording should cover all the frequencies from old tapes and vinyl just fine.
