  1. That's evidence (other than the actual existence of the thread) that mods aren't looking in here yet! This can be our secret club thread!
  2. woop woop woop woop woop woop woop woop woop woop woop
  3. Is there a program where you can enter an expression and listen to the resulting wave?
  4. I haven't seen THIS thread in awhile. Incidentally I'm still with Dhsu - I liked Dreamland 3 much more than Superstar.
  5. Hey, this is pretty good! One of the best recent remixes, in my book. I'm a sucker for that ping-pongy synth backdrop, and the melody instruments are deliciously buzzy and funky. This reminds me a bit of GaMeBoX's kind of style, actually. You use lots of simple instruments to great effect, with a huge backbeat! I think in general I preferred the first half to the second, but I enjoyed it throughout. Sweet ending chord, too! (So zircon, what if I LIKE reverb-drenched songs, huh? Huh?!)
  6. I hate this whole kind of I DARE YOU TO TREAD ON ME argument I see when people talk about this. It's the same kind of crap that always shows up in religious arguments and especially Mac vs PC. For serious - if you like Melee, why not play it instead of coming into a thread where people are talking about Brawl and saying "SSBB is dumb Melee is still the better game lol. Uh oh debate time or flame time which I don't care I'll just flame you back"? How "adult" is that? I like Melee a lot for its fluent speed, much better items, and more powerful hits (and for the fact that I played it a ton) but Brawl's characters are much better balanced to each other and the whole stage recovery system (grabs and up-bs) have been made WAY easier (which I think makes it a lot more fun because it's more challenging to get rid of someone). Overall it balances out, I think. It's a different game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking Melee more than Brawl, and not even with staying with Melee and refusing to play Brawl. But there is definitely something wrong with trying to force your beliefs on all the other people who don't agree with you.
  7. Looks like I'm keeping firefox. Might want to read this: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080903-google-on-chrome-eula-controversy-our-bad-well-change-it.html
  8. Yeah it's pretty much awesome. Overall I think mac still has it beat though - I think it's control mousewheel there too, except it's part of the OS - it actually zooms into wherever the mouse is pointing. It's my favorite thing about macs.
  9. Oh man, that sucks. I wonder what the last trailer he voiced was.
  10. Wait, where did you find that/when was that made? Just curious.
  11. Hey you VGMix guys - if any of them are here - I'm locked out of my forum account over there for some reason. Could one of you get that? I don't really know people over there.
  12. Hey man, thanks for checkin' it out! Interesting - you're the second person to mention that a song I made sounds sorta like Orbital. Maybe I should listen to some of their stuff and see if I like it. I would have posted this over at VGMix too, but my forum account over there is locked for some reason and I have no idea who to talk to about that since I don't know that many people there. Anyway, I miss the days of Vs Compo. Any idea when (if) it'll stop being a broken link (or is it already back somewhere else that I don't know about)?
  13. No matter how few people recommend it you have to get Rez. REZ.
  14. Definitely get ahold of Rez, Okami and Shadow of the Colossus ASAP (also We Love Katamari, since you have damacy). As for more general things, you can never go wrong with Burnout 3, Soul Calibur 2, the Metal Slug Anthology, or the first Spy Hunter (which I think is surprisingly fun).
  15. Awesome! I'm really glad you guys liked it. I know OCR doesn't really respond well to albums made by people who haven't remixed anything, but anything means a lot. Incidentally, thanks Raptor! Part of my goal was to weird people out a bit (with a few bizarre styles and whatnot) so I'm glad you appreciate it! I just put up a couple new singles on my site (you might have heard one of them already). I'll keep updating it as much as I can but Superscape is going to be my main project meat for a little while. After I finish making some sort of remix and maybe work on another personal project of mine, I'll get to work on a third album! That'll probably be done sometime next year.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PakaVBe7rY It's hard to see the major difference with such a low-res video, but there you go. Texture Pack BMGLib Rice Video Plugin
  17. I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass. It was a somewhat different design, it was a sequel to one of my favorite games ever, and it had Linebeck (who was really well-written and developed). But yeah, it didn't hit me with the same vibe Wind Waker did. Ciela was cool and all but she talked so much (and often in place of Link where he couldn't) that it sapped away a lot of link's character and charm that he had in wind waker. Plus even with more dungeons it didn't feel as expansive as WW (maybe because the ocean was smaller - again, it needed more exploration). The dungeons were short and they ALL HAD THE SAME MUSIC. (Seriously, dungeon music is EXTREMELY important to the atmosphere - look at the Forest Temple of OoT and the Earth Temple from WW). They completely dropped the ball on that in both TP and PH. I did really enjoy a lot of the touch functions though (like drawing on the map and charting courses) and the Temple of the Ocean King was pretty awesome.
  18. The Wind Waker is absolutely amazing. I don't know if I like it more than Ocarina but I feel the world is the most immersing and enveloping of any Zelda ever made. Plus, the final hour of the game ramps up the atmosphere and incredible execution tenfold. I thought the quest for all the triforce pieces (the part most everyone hated) was one of the best parts, simply because it MAKES you delve into the massive ocean, fill up your chart, and explore around (as any Zelda should) - in fact, in a lot of ways the exploration was the best of any Zelda game (What's that thing on the horizon? Whip out telescope. That island has a creepy shape, I think I'll go check it ouOSHIT THERE'S A SUBMARINE). This is where Twilight Princess failed for me and why the atmosphere was nothing compared to Wind Waker - there wasn't any exploration for me (which I thought was the point of Zelda games). It was very linear. Go to A. Done with A, go to B. Done with B, go to C. Done with C, unlocked D, E, and F. Go to D. I still really appreciate the environments, a few of the Temple designs, the beautiful graphics and some of the soundtrack of TP, but it wasn't nearly as immersive an experience for me as Wind Waker. WW had a massive depth to the environment (even if the land space was less than other games) because of how it was done. Plus, the characters were much better written and expressive in WW than TP (excluding Midna, who was amazing). TP tried to be really GOOD at all the elements that made it up, but WW was much more consistent and COHESIVE with its elements (in the goal of creating a massive, interactive cartoon world). The really interesting thing to think about with WW is that in some ways the plot is extremely dark for a Zelda game. (Minor spoilers). Think about it. Ganon freed himself and wreaked havoc on Hyrule, which was then sealed over permanently by a massive flood. Majora's Mask is dark because it's about the impending apocalypse repeating again and again, but in Wind Waker the apocalypse has already happened and you couldn't do anything to stop it. This plot put up against the most stylized and cartoony design scheme of a Zelda really can create a creepy (and brilliant) atmosphere that I feel comes to a head in the black and white, frozen sequence under the ocean. That's one of my favorite moments of any game.
  19. Hahaha thanks you guys. Hope you enjoy.
  20. Hey all! It's been a year and I haven't been posting as often, but I've been just as busy. I've been posting preview sets in WIP:O for the last few months of an album I've been working on called "Superscape". Well it's taken forever, but that album is finally done! So here it is: SUPERSCAPE (Hi-res album box art, including the front cover, is available here) This has been in the works since somewhere around September of last year and I think I can finally say I'm done with it. It's 54 minutes and a lot of different styles, so maybe you'll find something you like! Each song has a good number of interesting style mashups and a moody atmosphere. My main point was to mash together a natural-sounding feel with a really synthetic-sounding, artificial feel. I'm thinking it sounds a lot more complex than Antechamber (my previous album), but whether it's better or not is up to you, since the style is very different. All that said, it's free, so you have nothing to lose except 54 minutes! You can download it from my main site at http://antipodemusic.googlepages.com (click the Spotlight dealy on the right) - and I'd love to hear what you all think about it, since it was pretty much joining this site and listening years ago that inspired me to get into independent music and get to where I am now. By the way, I just totally redesigned my site from the ground up, so it should be much easier to cruise around. Just sayin'. Happy listening! Incidentally, I think I'm going to try and make my next project a remix, since after all this time I think I finally feel comfortable enough to submit one.
  21. You guys I'm in serious need of some Metroid love.
