  1. Hey guys, this is like the first thing I've done in almost a year, and I SHOULD be working on the sonic remix project but hey, what can you do. Here's the very beginning of this guy, lets see where it goes! Current: http://tindeck.com/listen/pxrb
  2. ORIGINAL SOURCE: So I just recently listened to Iron Maiden's CD, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. Although the main thing I like about Iron Maiden is the heavy metal parts of the songs, I really enjoyed the acoustic parts on the CD. And then I played some Zelda II. As well as being one of the best NES titles ever, it's also one of the most underrated. After going through the battle areas (which I always reffered to as caves, even though sometimes you went through forests), I thought to myself, "Hmm...I could turn this into an acoustic-centered song!" As I had recently gotten Fruity Loops, I did some effing around. I said that it would be acoustic-centered, but I was planning on having other instruments as well. That didn't quite work out. So I modified it to be an acoustic-only. It was relatively simple, as there are only 3 tracks, and it only took me 2 days to get to what it is now. It's my first official song from FL. Yet I feel like there needs to be more. It clocks in at only about 2 minutes, 5 seconds. So I'm thinking of adding the Boss theme from the game onto this, as the songs kinda sound alike. Enough of the story bullcrap, though. So as this is my first REAL remix, I'm curious as to what you guys think. I'm new to FL, so I don't expect you guys to think of it as a masterpiece. If you do, then whoopie. If not, fine by me. Critizism is my friend. The song's broken up into 3 parts, which last nearly 40 seconds each. 0:00 - 0:40 is the main bass line. 0:40 - 1:21 adds the rhythm track. In the original source, it isn't entirely noticeable. 1:21 - 2:06 adds the final piece. This is the main instrument you here in the source. LINK: Looking for a song name, please. So...there ya go. Catch ya on the flip side!
  3. Hello, over the months I've began remixing the OST of Megaman & Bass. This old school gem has next to no remixes available at the time. So I brought it upon my self to do this task. I have 2 tracks done as of now, I am working on a third as well. Anyway I made this topic for critique and comments. Here are the first two songs. Groundman's Chill Drill- http://club-syndicate.net/kamekaze/groundmanremixV2.zip Coldman's Frosty Rave, ft. Jewelman- http://club-syndicate.net/kamekaze/Coldman.zip
  4. I know I'm probably biting off more than i can chew by trying to remix this but i'll try it anyways. Source: Its the first wip so I was a little lazy with humanisation in some parts. Also because of the weird piano/synth sample I'm using, I had to use absolutely no reverb which makes it sound dry in the lower pitch notes. I'll sort it out in the next wip. 5. Hi everyone, here's my first VG mix (still as-yet untitled and in need of much finalising)... LATEST VERSION: http://cbnow.co.uk/theradicalsifu/DK64_Remix_WIP_2.mp3 (4.79MB) OLD VERSION: http://cbnow.co.uk/theradicalsifu/DK64_Remix_WIP.mp3 (4.81MB) The levels and mixing are still very much preliminary, and it's possible that the bass/kick might be mixed wrong on some sound systems, I haven't finalised all that yet... also the mix does contain one or two samples and instruments from the original track PLEASE critique, be honest, brutally if necessary... Thank you!!
  6. So this is a stuff i made for fun a medley of the following Final Fantasy 6 themes : Terra Theme, Battle Theme, Boss Theme, Victory Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn4mKZFVNlQ
  7. Hey guys, I'm Chris Geehan. I previously had an account on here under the title 'Akourah' but I am rather silly and cannot seem to find the details to get into that account. That said, this title seems more accurate to my presentation. I'm one half of HyperDuck Music Studios. We wrote most of the music for the Iji OST back in 2008. We're just a small new team of two, who are writing music for game soundtrack whenever the opportunity presents itself. We love it, we really do, and we were asked about doing a remix or medley for an iji level in a super smash brawl-esque game lately called "Indie Brawl" so, in the midst of University exams (we're in our final 3 weeks of exams, then we graduate! Yay!) we spat out a mix (not complete) of an Iji medley we've been doing now and then. If you played Iji, you might like it, hopefully you will! If not, check it out anyway. The mix is not great at the moment, I will aim to improve it in the summer after the exams are over, but I thought I would show it anyway and see if any Iji music fans who enjoyed the original can share their support & constructive feedback if necessary! http://www.hyperduck.co.uk/?p=87 That's the news article. http://www.hyperduck.co.uk/HyperDuck_Music_Studios_-_Iji_Medley_(Indie_Brawl_OST).mp3 That's the direct link. Anyways, I will go re-introduce myself on the boards (if I even did it before, quite rude of me to barge in without properly joining the community) and shall see you around more often come June 2009, (exam death date, yay!) Chris Geehan. EDIT: Before people begin bashing the mixing quality of it. I know it's not good at all at the moment, I think I just wanted to share it with whoever was up for listening at this point, I will properly mix and master the sound of this track after Uni has died! Promise!
  8. Hey hey, so i just joined the forums, and i had submitted this song to be judged, one of my remixes of Chrono Cross - Another World, anyway, after doing some research it looks like i may have prematurely submitted it >< I still like it of course, but I would love to hear some of the communities opinions on it. Here is a link to the original by Yasunori Mitsuda, And here is the link to my remix of it, http://www2.zippyshare.com/v/18551482/file.html There is the link to the song, i was looking for a more techno up tempo version of the song while still keeping the relaxing feeling. I would also not listen to it directly from the hosting site, their player drastically reduces the quality. Rather just download it and it will be all good. Thanks in advance for any of your suggestions or tips
  9. This is something I started as a theme for a possible future game. It's a bit short, but I may expand on it later. Yay for orchestra goodness. http://www.jaredhudson.com/temp/skyavengers_demo_theme.mp3
  10. There is no ReMix of this game yet on this site, therefore I took on the task to make that right. I've worked quite a bit on this one so far. The style is pretty mixed and experimental and the song has quite a lot of elements to it. Is it too much? Does it need to be made more cohesive or does it work? Thanks for listening Themes ReMixed are: Character Select theme and Water Ruins. http://tindeck.com/listen/mhco
  11. I only named it that because I don't have a name for it myself. This is something I whipped up long ago. It would sound much better had I been able to record it directly from the keyboard I created it on, but since I wasn't able to do that... Prepare for monotony and possible ear pain. I'm not too good at music, but this is the only track I've created that I'm proud of, and doesn't sound like absolute crap. Forgive me for this. I'm expecting the worst, so don't hold back!
  12. This tune is still in the mixing phase (haven't started mastering), but I'd like to know what more experienced musicians think of my mixing. http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Clarencio%20Mix.mp3 (The tune itself is maybe a bit dull, along with my arrangement) I have mixed primarily on a 5.1 set, but I also have some headphones. I think maybe the bass is a bit shy when listening on the headphones, but I'm not sure if it's just that I am used to pretty loud sub-bass with the subwoofer. Also, the kick feels very "light" on the headphones maybe. Those are my thoughts so far. Edit: Here is a quick master. Has a bit more 'air' and some compression. Subtle changes from the mix. http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Mordi%20-%20Clarencio.mp3

  14. So made this, this morning. arrangement i still kind of conservative.(will update soon) This is the first remix I've made without the assistance of a midi (so I'm proud of that) Remix Comments, thoughts, Rants?
  15. I've been working on this for a while. I did submit this once, but it got the form rejection. To be honest, I've learned so much more since I subbed it that I'm kind of glad it got rejected. I took the criticism that was offered in the form seriously and this is what I've done so far: WIP2 The sources are: The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time Temple of Time Enter Gannondorf I really would like to get some feedback so I can polish it up and get it submitted.
  16. Very much in the begining stages, but still after advice and anything else you wish to share with me, the completed track will be around 3 to 4 minutes long. Just wanted to share what I have, and see if the feel of the song is working so far. If you want, I am always looking for someone to collab with as well, so if you want to help out in a more personal way PM me your MSN or Skype. Again, ANYTHING you think might make this better please tell me, and yes I know I'm staying true to the original melody, But I will tweak it somewhat in the end. I don't want to change it too much, there's a reason I chose this song, and it's because I love the original so much Please look above to find the latest version of this WIP
  17. Alright, here's the deal. I'm new here. I can play songs on the piano. I play them well. However, I don't have a microphone that's worth its weight in pennies. Therefore, I give you this: It's a big-time WIP. Quality is, as of this moment, crap. My question is this: Is this song of decent enough composition to warrant me actually going out and getting a real microphone (instead of, say, suspending a Rock Band mic from a lampshade, or using the microphone inherent in my crappy laptop)? Oh and yeah, there are a few mistakes in the playing, sorry about that. At the time of upload, I was too busy to fix it. It's no excuse, but think of this as a beta. With bugs. And very fuzzy sound. I look forward to comments and criticisms, thank you! (Nota Bene: the song is from Cavestory, and has the same title as the name of this thread)
  18. Hey there, it's your friendly neighborhood marshmallow man saying hello from the east coast. I recently became interested in making my own music, for finding band members as eclectic as me is near impossible. So, I present to you, my first, very rough, remix of a song from Blaster Master for the NES. It's the intro song. It's almost a metal song... I don't really know what to call it. Feel free to criticize, it's very shoddy and I know I could do more with it. I just wanted to see what it would sound like. http://rapidshare.com/files/383205306/Roughmix.mp3.html
  19. Okay, so I originally started this a few months back when I was in a Yoshi's Island arranging frenzy and I had the idea of taking the structure of Franz Liszt's Consolation №1 in E major and mixing it with the Yoshi's Island intro, which came out pretty nicely but the piece ended up being ridiculously short. Jump to today when I find this piece again and I decide to expand it, the result being what you're about to hear. This is sort of rough because I haven't had the chance to humanize it or master it or anything so at the time of this writing some of it is going to sound like a robot slamming keys. But I think it's listenable enough to post. In regards to the composition, I'm more or less finished depending on whether I feel like trimming the opening—I just don't know yet. But for now, you can hear what I have here. Give me feedback or ask questions, if you'd like. And yes, that's 7/8.
  20. So, this piece came out of unusual circumstances. I am a music major and I'm in Orchestration class this semester. For our final project, we had to arrange a 2 to 3 minute piece. As a reward for the amount of work it takes to arrange and format all the parts, we are having our pieces read by the school orchestra (Which I'm pretty excited about). The piece I chose is honestly one of my favorite musical works I've ever heard, the track "To Zanarkand" from Final Fantasy X. I chose to arrange it for wind and strings. I plan on recording the reading tomorrow afternoon, but for now all I have is the Finale export. It's a little robotic, but it gets the idea across. I've never scored for this sort of ensemble before... it has been a real challenge. Let me know what you think! If the recording turns out well I may submit it. http://www.hrook.net/mp3/ToZanarkandFinal.mp3
  21. Ok, Sorry if you aren't suppose to reupload a remix after you alter it, but if it's against the rules ii guess i'll find out. Anyway, I changed this a bit from my original mix. People complained I didn't put enough originality into it, So I added a few phrases of my own in there. However, I really don't wawnt to get tooooo far from the original because I find that alot of songs on OCremix get so far from the source that it's hard to recognize. In addition to original phrases, I've changed rhythms of the basslines, added a bit of stacking. People also said that the guitar and synth sounded too mechanical and needed more velocity, so every note in the melodic voices have had velocity added. No one but me seemed to like the "go link" section, so I removed it. I did keep links various yells in, however, I reorganized them in the beat so they felt more natural. I think that's all i changed this time around. Comments, constructive criticism, ideas, and feedback are welcome, encouraged, and often reciprocated Let me know what you think.
  22. Would be nice with feedback on mastering and melody. A slightly funky, but mostly cheesy synth-tune. I'm having a hard time choosing good leads. I always go for pretty standard saw-leads. .mp3 Suggestions for a name?
  23. Here is another work-in-progress out of the 7 unfinished projects. This one is Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3 (it doesn't have a "nickname" yet.) The only thing missing is the main melody, but I will record that as a guitar riff (I can't do it until I get the recording device I need.) Otherwise, I have all the synth stuff down.
  24. Hey guys, I had a Ragnarok Online remix I had posted not to long ago but lost the motivation for it so I'll work on it later. I definitely want to finish this song though since I've always liked the song when I played the Crystal version. But I would greatly appreciate feedback and what could use some work. Source Remix First Update Final Update Edit: It came to me a while back. But when I fired up my Pokemon Crystal game, I forgot that there was dialogue when you stay on the radio mode in your pokegear and Reed and he gives his intro to the lucky number show and tells you the number. I would like to add that element into the remix I'm workin on. What I need is someone with a decent mic with a dry recording of that dialogue and I need it to be charismatic like how Reed appears to be when he's sayin all of that. If anyones interested please give me a pm and I'll give you further details...
  25. Yeah, its a stupid title, but I cant think of anything right now. :-{ Anyway, this is a rearrangement of "The Girl Who Stole the Stars," from Chrono Cross. This is an experimental (at least for me) piece, so it sounds kinda crazy compared to my previous songs. I cant really say too much about it cause I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Check it! http://www.mediafire.com/?kjjimdigfnz
