Saunders Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Radical Dreamers 'No Promises Punk' "One, two, three, four!" You hear this at the beginning just before it kicks into, what neato-keen people like me like to call, high gear. If you're fond of the fast paced punk music of today, and there's a chance you are (you can't all be strictly techno lovers), then you'll love this mix. I know I did. Highly recommended. Tell 'em Rob Saunders sent ya. (What am I talking about? Who knows) Check it out, along with the rest of the Far Promise flood of Apr 21st. Collect the whole set! Quote
Neimonster Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Sweet remix, really warmed me here in (now-a-years) cold sweden. GJ JAXX! Quote
mDuo13 Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 Wow. Unlike about half the remixes of this song, this one is very different, and in a GREAT way. Energetic punk mix, and very similar to his Time Punk remix. My favorite of the Far Promise flood, by far. Head banging is an understatement. Get it THIS SECOND! Quote
dilbert627 Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 This was probably my favorite of the RD flood, and one of my favorite JAXX mixes. It rocks very hard. Quote
Newfie Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 I found this probaly one of my all time favs on OC! It was constructed VERY well, and sounds like someone really is playing! You don't find this in many songs, and I love how JAXX did this one, very rockin' and not that loud at the same time.. Its a good combination when you have a good theme to it.. Quote
reelmojo Posted December 22, 2002 Posted December 22, 2002 Newfie, it sounds like someone is really playing because someone really is! If I'm not mistaken JAXX uses a mixture of live and programmed sounds, so its not all live, but some of it is. Anyhow, awesome, just awesome mix. Sound quality is excellent. You can tell the original is in there, but this is a far cry from the soft soothing sounds of Far Promise. This is more of a run around with fists flying in the mosh pit kinda sound. While many of the rest of the RD flood are great, this one takes the biggest risks, and man does it pay off. Everyone download it... now! Quote
Deryck Khusial Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 been a while since i’ve listened to punk. there’s that fast bpm that i remember. one thing that always gets me in this mix occurs around 1:09. the way it breaks off and sounds majestic at the same time's very moving. the buildup around 1:52 also has some heartfelt emotion packed into it. great guitar playing, great drums Quote
Chavous Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Obviously, JAXX has a knack for remixing in the style of punk, which is always a nice toss-up to the more electronic, programmed stuff around here (not saying it's bad). This mix is absolutely amazing in the sense that it stays juuust far enough from the original that it retains the emotion of the song itself, while still putting forth full-blown punk rhythms and melodies. The production quality is great, whatwith the guitar recording and drums (I wonder if they are live drums...). While not being my favorite of the RD flood, it still stands out as one of the best of that time. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Before I listened to this, I saw it was part of the radical dreamers flood of 2001 and was a bit hesitant, as most of the mixes in the group were pretty much joke mixes, but I can safely say not only is this a kickass track, but it's probably the best of the bunch by a pretty wide margin. Very authentic and energetic, and the differences from the original are very welcome. Surprisingly good, check it out. Quote
DragonAvenger Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 I'm not crazy about punk, but this is well done. Of the flood I've heard so far, it's the one that stands out the most. Worth getting. Quote
Evil_Cronos Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm not a big fan of punk music in general and this is no different. I find that the track is too fast and overlapping to make much of a statement. Not very good in my opinion, but then again I'm biased against the entire genre so what do I know. Quote
Emunator Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Holy crap, I was NOT expecting this to be so good! Super-energetic take on a mellow source, I'm quite impressed! The whole mix feels very convincing, I can't tell what's live and what's sampled. Some of the transitions were a tad awkward and the arrangement felt pretty unfocused, but overall this is a very high quality mix, especially for something so early on in the library. Quote
42 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 This one hasn't aged too well. It feels like everything in this mix has towels wrapped around it to muffle the sound, and everything seems to be going way too fast to feel natural (especially the drums. They feel too mechanical.) Still this is an interesting take on the Far Promise source and probably my favorite style yet from the flood, and it is an interesting piece from an earlier era. If you're looking for something else a little different, and don't really have much else to do, go check it out, else they're other mixes worth checking out first. Quote
