The Author
Anthro art, in my case anyway, is still okay. What I can't stand is Furry art. And I see a big distinction. Anthro is art that is made because the artist felt like creating a character that had animalistic characteristics. Furry art is pornographic, and most of the time hyper-sexualized. I can also somewhat accept furry fetishism, however, the use of the furry identity to supplant the human identity is what bugs me. People roleplay in sexual encounters, and that's fine. I'd hate to have a partner have her identity supplanted by her sexy nurse persona. And I think what's even worse is the fake spirituality aspect. I've looked at many kinds of spirituality, and animal shamanism is interesting, but the idea is to show traits of the animal, not assume you are not human. And plus, on the intarwebs, the line between furry and anthro is blurred like japanese scat porn. So I'll stand by my afuikng furiras, but I have to add a: "I don't mind anthro"

Refelos
i think of your level of furry tolerance like a "not quite spiritual/persona" trait. some people believe in a giant man who lives in outer space and dictates the universe. some people feel like they were born in the wrong era and would fit in better decades or centuries past. others think that its ok to lie, cheat, and steal. "furries" simply find it easy to relate their values, ideals, and flaws with the virtues of animals. keep in mind that we as a race gave those animals said virtues. people dont look twice when you say that someone was an animal in bed but if you were to whine and nuzzle someone as an appology youre some kind of pervert (meant in the odd, not sexual way.) as far as the sex goes: everyone has their fetishes. the reason the tubgirl was photographed is because someone thought it was erotically pleasing. the same is true with furry porn. the reason it gets so much flak is more than likely because of how fictional it is. anthros dont exist. therefore its further away from the norm and easier to be accosted. coop's right, the art (most of it, anyways,) is just as technically empowered as drawings and paintings of real people. i dont know if he realized it but his second pic is actually a HIGHLY published work if you saw the picture earlier and was disgusted by it, how do you react to it now? Schwaltzvald
if you saw the picture earlier and was disgusted by it, how do you react to it now? The excuse would be, "It's a monster girl so it passes" I kid you not. Suprisingly "monsters" are actually excused from the whole furry schtick. Gollgagh
some people feel like they were born in the wrong era and would fit in better decades or centuries past. heh, I think this sometimes wishing I was the son of a carpenter so that I would just have to learn the trade from my father and take over the family business when he got too old

FR
I prefer carrot on a stick but seriously if you were born a carpenter you would be rebellious and not want to succeed the family business maybe wouldn't doubt it if the majority of people put in that situation did so
K.B.
Threads don't crash and burn around here. Not these days. There's little to crash into. An anomalistically good thread will be guarded by those who care. I am not currently inclined to comment on the porn/art/suppression/expression debate at hand, but I felt the need to state the obvious that a good thread will flourish. Comparatively across time? Can't comment. But people here are astute enough to see a thread for what it is and post appropriately. And those who aren't and wouldn't are still kept in line. Bagel Fuzzynuts
bagel's been back like six times. it stops being 'back' when you've got more comeback tours than the who. That's harsh. Can we stop with the furry conversation in this thread? I think it has run its course.
Mahaboo
That's harsh.. Mayhaps but gotta admit that was pretty good. Also thanks for the memories. I remember the damned PM by lurch followed by the infamous Bagel Wang pic just before it broke loose all over these forums. Good times. I still giggle every time I pass by "What a Bagel" here. Thanks a ton.
Bagel Fuzzynuts
Haha, Lurch got way too excited about my dong. Glad to hear it still brings joy into the life of others (whom I've never met). And, the comeback tours line was good. I felt I needed to quote it. Thanks for all you do, in regards to the Love & Relationship thread. I know you've helped a lot of people over the years. All I've done is show pictures of my wang. The Coop
I guess my biggest claim to "fame" would be the whole spork debacle. One simple comment, a few extra posts of idiocy after it, and BOOM!... there's a thread about sporks by littlechava to get us out of his thread. And Minisonic (you're welcome for the idea. ), and scrolling gifs, and gif stories, and Jon Talbain everythings, and the Nice Work Archive, and the Nice Work icon, and you participated in an IMC (12?)... [edit]...and the 'Twas poems... -- Is moggie really dead? I don't believe you, someone would've mentioned him coming back and saying that he was dead. I don't believe you, someone would've mentioned him coming back and saying that he was dead. Moggie's alive as far as I know. He posted on dot org for a good while after he left here. His last post over there was Oct. 24 of '09. And the NWG archive was analoq's baby. He gathered up the images that had been done at the time (back around the end of 2002), but didn't want to do the updating for it. So, I took over from there. TimberWolf
I was chatting in a room on IRC the other day (olskool, huh?), and talking to a guy who claimed to be anti-mainstream. After about 5 questions, i discovered he had no identity at all, and only did the opposite of what people said without any real cause. The saddest part is that he actually knew that. I mean, i just bowed out of the convo after that, because all anyone can do is point out the problem, lol. You reminded me of it because he didn't seem to understand the word "edgy". zykO
Anti mainstream? What the fuck does that even mean? against the mainstream? but really you have a point. anybody who self-righteously refers to themselves as anti-mainstream is not anti anything at all. maybe antisense. but thats something else, entirely also, COOP: you've gotta be kidding me when you suggest you've only got a couple claims to fame.
