audio fidelity
It's Vegas - that you get for free Well ya but only when your losing money gambling So Im on the fence about about the 18 year olds. Not that we're all gonna be in complete excess. But people drinking in hotels or what not, complications could arise. And the biggest thing is just being around casinos and the like. They don't mess around there. I don't like the idea of splitting people up or having to work the group around a few people that can't participate. We were out pretty late doing things in places where 18 year olds wouldn't have access to. But on the flip side for those thinking it's all about strip clubs and gambling, it certainly is not. While those are the cliche attractions. Just walking around the strip and all it's craziness is more than enough for the journey. It's just crazy how much is out there. It's quite the experience and there is tons to see, fanastic shows (mystere is amazing), and great places to shop. Good times ahead
Bahamut
I dunno, I think we'll have a large enough # of people that splitting off is ok for some things, as not everyone is going to be attracted to all of the things Vegas has to offer, like my point about the strip clubs. Jenz Drake
But do you have alcohol? I currently have Southern Comfort which is my favorite. But if you want to buy alcohol, you're welcome to. Just drink in moderation. And to answer Jay's and other people's concerns - I'm sad this topic has become "let's do crazy ass things on the strip the entire trip just to have a wonderful time" - We're totally not into that. We'll hang at the Strip, but there's nothing to fucking do there other then sightsee, which I would love to do with Bahamut and the others. lol I haven't done the whole Chinatown or Strip experience so it'll be fun while taking photos and going to the kool shops - but I have no interest doing adult activities like clubs. Call me a nerd, but I rather be home playing video games then going out drinking or gambling.

The Biznut
Jade, and KyleJCrb, If I can make it down, you can count me in. I wouldn't mind hitting up a casino and playing some hold'em, but in general I am pretty laid back. it's the if I can make it down. I found out that my ideal summer job has it's last camp from the 15th-18th or something, which is HUGELY frustrating because I would kill to finally make an OCR meetup, and this is looking like it's the one to be at. I'll have to explore some other options for work...

Monobrow
Guys count Long Dao in. He also wants you all to know that Blind stole his birthday even though he is older. He wants to tell you all that Blind knew he was coming, so he took the birthday opportunity as fast as he could. :J P.S: A majority of the people going to Vegas will probably want to get drunk and do all of that stuff, but that doesn't mean the people that don't want to get drunk will have to. I certainly will get drunk, not the whole time, but probably for the fun things we did last time, like watching starla in drunken karaoke night. That was the bomb. Slightly buzzed gambling is great too. Most of the time, we were sober in the daytime, and early evening, and eventually we would party and have a good time later that night (which is what led to going to the strip club afterwards) (or the drunken karaoke) (or gambling downstairs) (or REALLY late night breakfast, which was so awesome - with sober drivers) Anyway, those were all good time, but you PERSONALLY do not have to be drunk doing any of those, it was just that the majority of us were, at one point or another, to varying degrees. Good times ahead I think it's pretty likely that the group would have to be split up a lot of the time anyway. It was kind of hard enough planning stuff with 10 people, let alone 20. Obviously we could have like scheduled major events, but breaking off into smaller groups from time to time would certainly help. Plus like you said there's PLENTY of stuff to do that doesn't require being 21. Shit I don't think we did much of ANYTHING last time that required being 21 besides the OCCASIONAL drinking. Which was like...2 or 3 times THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE IN VEGAS. Also: Strip Club was 18+
Bahamut
We can figure some things out when we're there, and maybe do a few things together as a full group like some dinner, shows, etc. - I don't really view it as a huge deal, just some things aren't for everyone, which isn't too surprising considering what Vegas is. Jenz Drake
I'm just addressing now I don't want crazy drunks in my house because if something breaks, All Hell is going to Break Loose. I also don't want "crazy behavior" going on because Jordan and I will not be approving of something like that. I'm not trying to crash your parties or fun, but since you're going to be in a hotel anyway, you can do those kind of activities there. It is not my job to babysit adults at my place. I'm fine with drinking responsively and in moderation - I'm a casual drinker, but I don't plan on ruining other experiences for the other guests. My goal is not to make anyone feel uncomfortable. In Vegas?Really? Really? People are coming out from afar to play... video games? In Vegas? I'm sorry but that is just pointless. And if your idea of fun is Vegas strip clubs and getting drunk, then you can hang with your own kind of crew. My point of "living" in Vegas isn't pointless. I came here to be with my husband and have a rightful marriage. I'm not forcing anyone to come fly out from far distances just to play video games. I want them to come out and be with us because I miss them. I don't get to see Bahamut, Stevo or Jay whenever I want. I also didn't get to go to Magfest 8, which sucked monkey balls. starla
There are pretty clearly people that want to do some things, and others that want to do other things. This is absolutely fine. I propose we have a schedule. There will be at least 30 people it seems, what we may want to do is set certain times for dinners and shows and meeting up, but leave the rest up to us. Just like Magfest, we're not obligated to be with the same people the entire time. Many people have not been to Vegas before and want to experience more extravagant things that may not be affordable for others. Others will want to get wasted and wander around. Some others may just be interested in seeing shows, and exploring the city. And others yet may want to spend a good amount of time playing poker. Travelling in smaller groups to do the things you want to do, then meeting up altogether will be wiser than trying to do everything together with 30 people. Once we have a final count of people (I don't expect that until much later) we can split up rides, and make up a basic and flexible schedule. bustatunez
Actually I agree with Jade on this one and doubt I'm the only one. Gambling is of no interest to me either. That said, there's no reason we can't splinter off and have like half the group one day go to whatever casino stuff, and the other half have another itinerary, then meet up for dinner. I'm glad I'm not the only one then. That's kool - because if I was, then I shouldn't have made this public. I didn't think the whole "I wanna see naked chicks while I'm drunk" would be such a big deal. I wish I didn't live in Vegas to be quite frank. I wish I lived back in Florida. It's much more normal there, to me anyway. Can I add you on the list Busta?
starla
Also to address the under 21 crowd: Jade says she can likely house them, if there end up being a larger group then we can get them a hotel room. As long as they respect the fact that they cannot come to room parties with alcohol, we won't have any trouble. It is the law, and it would suck to get busted. If if turns out only a couple come, they can stay with Jade and Blind, and chill out with them - that way they don't have to walk through the casinos at all. Once we have a more final headcount, it'll be much easier to determine what to do with 'em If one of the under-21's has a car, they can transport them and then Jade won't have to get a rental either. There's a lot that we don't know yet. I love the idea of having something for us west-coasters besides a one-night meetup at Will's. This does sound like it's getting bigger and more planning will need to be done to make sure everyone is accomodated. For now don't worry about it, we'll figure it out - we have plenty of time between now and August.
Nicole Adams
I was going to say we should have a schedule, but starla beat me to it. Monobrow
On a side note: Jade and Blind: I don't think anyone was planning on crashing your place drunk. You set the rules of your place and that's cool, I am sure if you had a party for birthday people, if people wanted to drink, they could say happy birthday and eat cake and then go elsewhere, etc. etc. later on. I was just talking about what people do with themselves is just personal preference no matter what, there is plenty of space and people going to Vegas so that there will probably not be any problems with splitting people up. You have your meetup with the people you want to see, like Bahamut and Stevo and the rest, but this meetup is going to be way bigger than what you initially thought (which is why Ari contacted you in the first place, because it's been talked about a bunch since our last Vegas meetup and people asked him to try to plan it) And honestly, going to Vegas means just that, going to Vegas. It will be the first time there for a lot of people, and even though you will be having some of this at your house, I am sure that most people going to Vegas will want to see other people too, and will want to take advantage of the things to see there (especially those that have never been there before)... I want to make sure that they get to have as much fun as possible, taking advantage of the cool things that I experienced for the first time when I went there. That's my priority, fun, and having a great time. I wanna wish all you dudes a happy birthday, but I also think that we should just keep considering this as an OCR meetup, with the priority of people on OCR coming together and having fun in a way cool place like Vegas. If you have any problem with too many people at your place or drinking or anything, I am sure people will be okay with that and respect your decision. If you want to hang at certain places and show people stuff, then you can do that too... But some other people are going to want to do what they want to do as well, it's kind of expected. So let's all relax... I am sure that when we all finally get to Vegas, none of this silly bickering will really matter, text always makes everything so much more dramatic than it really is. PEACE AND LOVE! And by the way, I don't think anyone had to babysit anyone the last meetup. Everyone that went last time was responsible and cool. Everyone that went last time was responsible and cool. Actually, I planned a meet-up last August with Stevo and afterwards Bahamut way before Nekofrog and Ashamee planned to get married in Vegas. The subject was brought up after Jay visited us and took us to California for Jordan's birthday. Stevo then suggested he celebrate his next birthday with us and we started to plan it out from there. I did expect for a lot of people to show up to it. Ari did get confused with this meet-up, though. I didn't say doing the full Vegas experience is a bad thing, but it's honestly turning into something else we didn't plan on being apart of. Whatever you guys do is your business, but we planned for this to be a friendly meet-up, not turn it into a Strip Joint OCR meet-up. And I heard "other" things in previous meet-ups that happened, but I have no right to discuss that.
