The Most Brazen Copyright Infringement I've seen

I just wanted to share this because I stumbled upon this yesterday while looking up a band from Edmonton called "Striker" on Spotify and it turned out there was another band called Striker but they are from Paris, France. They had an album called "Slave of Madness" and the album art caught my eye...

Where have I seen this before??? Oh, right...

So then I went to the record company's website. They have another artist from Paris called "Symbiozys" with an album called "25"

Hmmm

Just wow.

I bet this "label" and their acts would lose their shit if you torrent their music though and probably complain about how Spotify is the devil. =P

Might I suggest a name change?

How about OlderClock ReMix?

The name was because we give old clocks a do-over.  Makes more sense than what you people do on this website.

As a counter-claim, might I suggest you change your site's name to NothingToDoWithClocks NothingToDoWithRemixes, a fan arrangement community

Tell us Chernabogue, in the event that Time Warner and/or EA were made aware of the existence of such things, what would their course of action be? Would Karma curb-stomp "Exode Records"?

Don't know exactly, since companies have different ways to solve an issue. But yeah, most likely "Exode Records" may have a bad time if TW/EA find this.

This kind of thing infuriates me. Lazy, inconsiderate and wrong. If you need art, pay an artist (like me :D) or do it yourself. There is no excuse for stealing the hard work of others for your own gain. No excuse at all.

EDIT: ADDITIONAL - The people who did the art in the first place are often (though admittedly not always) poor, if talented. They get no credit or recognition from this kind of thing, but the plagiarists gain everything. It is theft

When will the creative trades begin to be taken seriously for their very hard work?

It's about being cheap. There is also this idea of the "virtuous pauper", where you're broke at the moment, but you'd pay if your money wasn't tied up in some greater good at the moment and you're of course totally justified in theft or handouts because you're a student or whatever.

Among many musicians in the modern day, there tends to be this hypocrisy and selfishness when it comes to money. People bitch about the state of the music industry, how hard it is to make money, etc. but they're completely willing to use cracked software, which they never even buy down the road. They'll "sample" recordings shamelessly - it wasn't until last year that Richard Spencer got "paid" for the Amen break via kickstarter. They'll work for free and make "free" an expectation among media creators, venues etc. and all the while they torrent albums and/or use streaming services because who the hell can deny the convenience of Spotify?

Like, I saw an "in the studio" video on YouTube and that Martin Garrix kid is using a cracked version of Sylenth. Really? You had this club hit or whatever at age 17 and you couldn't spend a few Euro on Sylenth?

There is an element of that for some,  I'll concede. But it's very few, and still an unfair justification. As you say, those who do get into a position of wealth all too easily forget to spread it to those who unknowingly helped them. It also doesn't account for the simple practice of asking first, and giving credit to the artist. I, for one would be happy for anyone to use my imagery if they asked and mentioned me, but only if they could genuinely prove they had no money to pay. Anything less is self-serving. I'm not going to talk about cracking programs or using keygens, because *to me* that's a (slightly) different topic albeit no less important or unjustified.

This sort of reminds me of that Chris Brown album(has that guy ever been relevant?) that ripped off City Hunter.
