kaze neko
" When replying to recruitment threads, be courteous. Don't criticize the recruiter for starting an album project for a game that you don't like, or for a game that already had an album project previously, or for any other reason. If there's a fangame/remake project, don't be that guy that always starts talking about cease & desist letters. If someone is posting a job listing or interested in commissioning work, don't use their recruitment thread as your own personal soapbox to rant about the nature of for-hire work. Basically, if you don't have something nice or helpful (in the "I'd like to help you" sense) to say, don't post. " - Recruit & Collaborate Forum Guidelines If you had better reading comprehension you'd realize I was going out of my way not to directly insult those that are dependent on using loops. Moreover, if I didn't state my preferences then it's possible that someone could have tried to make songs for me, only for me to not use them. Regardless of how much effort he put in (real or perceived) , the fact that he wasted his time remains unchanged. Sorry, but someone like you isn't capable of getting a rise out of me. I'm making a hentai game. Of course I already anticipated getting comments like your's. There are no stolen sprites, tracing, plagiarism, etc. in my game. Everything is original. It would be nice to get a 2nd composer, but his compositions would need to be held to the same standard. That simply can't be achieved with a song made mostly or entirely from loops. No matter the end result, it's just not what I'm looking for. I am unable to dumb it down any further, so I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain to you. Please refer to the forum guidelines (for the first time?) before considering posting a reply. With post counts so high, there should be no excuse for your behavior, right? Actually, it's because idgaf at this point and I don't really like the feeling of belonging to a community that would allow sickos making rape games to recruit there. You say I'd be incapable of "getting a rise" out of you, but it's pretty clear I unintentionally did. I'm also not talking cease and desist letters or ranting about the nature of for-hire work, I just pointed out how unbelievably stupid it is that you go out of your way to avoid insulting anyone regarding the "touchy subject" of loops when you are looking for someone to score a hentai game where the primary sex acts are "assault" as you call them. Like, do you see how stupid it is to be worried about offending someone who uses loops? Also, you're chastising me about the forum rules, but you might wanna read this, slick "Do not reference or link to the following: piracy/warez files or sites, nude or pornographic images, referral scam links, malware/spyware, or any illegal content." Granted, it says that under signatures, but if referencing/linking to porn is a no-no under signatures, I can't see why the mods would make an exception when it's an actual forum post that links to a playable demo of a porn-game. Regardless of where they stand on this in particular, you'd have to be a real creep to make a rape game in the first place.

SnappleMan
There's nothing wrong with hentai games. There is something wrong with a game that sexualizes explicit and very violent rape. A person who gets sexual gratification from watching soldiers beat a woman and have sex with her at gunpoint is not someone I want to associate with, and I assume that goes for most of the users on OCR. It doesn't matter that you're depicting it via silly looking sprites, it's still a very grotesque thing for you to consider pornographic. I'm sure there's a place for that kind of material somewhere on the internet, but I don't think that fits in here. djpretzel, timaeus222 and Tuberz McGee

" - Recruit & Collaborate Forum Guidelines A few things 'misquoted' here: "criticism" isn't further qualified, so implicitly it likely means without being helpful. Obviously, constructive criticism should be welcome. So yes, some of us weren't being entirely constructive, but not all of us. I think it's fair to suggest that you find a more appropriate audience for the nature of your specific game genre. "The nature of for-hire work" is general. As in, something like this would qualify: "it's not worth it to take this job guys, because the creator isn't popular, and you can't live on it, so so what's the point? Besides, for-hire work will involve catering to the creator's needs, so your desires and creativity in writing music will be limited." I didn't see something nearly as shallow as that example in-general dismissal, or rants about for-hire work. I thought SnappleMan was fairly helpful; he brought up the topic of personal character with respect to the creator, which is always important if you, as a game composer, want the job to be worthwhile, and something that you wouldn't regret putting on your resume. Just to be clear, I thought your response needed more careful thought, because you overreacted. Here are the phrases that allow pretty much anyone to label you as passive-aggressive (i.e. here's my attempt to help you): 9 hours ago, kaze neko said: If you had better reading comprehension you'd realize I was going out of my way not to directly insult those that are dependent on using loops. It really looks like your post is riddled with attacks. Here's my interpretation of an un-euphemised version: If you were less stupid when it came to reading... A little kid like you can't get the best of me. I expected people like you to attack me. I didn't steal anything. [By the way, no one talked about stolen stuff. You added that on your own.] I can't make it any more accessible than I have now, so hopefully you're smart enough to see my point. Learn to read. Or have you not been to OCR before? Having been here for years, you should feel responsible for your hostility. Like seriously, how differently might someone else read that? If ever you want someone to judge your character before they may or may not work with you... this isn't a good first impression. And I like I said, this is intended to be helpful. So if you then decide to be all passive-aggressive towards me too, then you haven't really taken the time to think thoroughly about what I just said, and I'm not going to respond. Kat
Hey, random fact - Has anyone ever seen the movie "Irreversible"? It's filled to the brim with rape, gore and everything unwholesome. The entire point of the movie seems to be to show something that does happen all the time, and make you as uncomfortable as possible. The soundtrack was composed in part by one Thomas Bangalter, whom you may know as one of the founding members of Daft Punk. Imagine that - an established musician scoring the soundtrack to a movie about women being brutally raped and murdered - and I should note it is definitely not in a tasteful manner. Just throwing that out there. On topic, I don't care much for the subject matter and it's hard to say if you'll actually get anyone from here willing to associate with it. As suggested it's probably best to search within a community of like-minded individuals who are less touchy about the subject matter. I think a large part of the problem is that you're presenting it as a hentai game, ie. for sexual pleasure, yet the first line of your plot states that, "It's about how the heroine, Wendy, and her family members try to defend themselves from an sudden invasion from ruthless Communist soldiers.". And then you have panty stealing? Is it actually intended to sexualize rape or is your intention to make a game that simply uses it as a plot? I think you should consider what you're aiming to do. If it's the latter, you may be labeling/presenting your game wrong and putting off several people. If it is indeed the former you're probably in the wrong place. Brandon Strader
Laughed my ass off seeing snappleman try to take the high road. OCR will do whatever the hell it damn pleases and promote whoever it wants to, it's not going to ask you for permission, and it's not going to take into consideration whether you or I like the person. Though if OCR secretly is asking you permission then I'd like to know why you made some of the choices you have in the past concerning the site. OCR rules aren't open to anyone's individual interpretation. They're pretty straightforward, and they should be followed. Don't see any porn in kaze neko's sig, so he's above board. I, for one, feel this community is better than this. I do not want to be associated with not only a guy creating a hentai centered around rape, I also don't want to be associated with a community of musicians that would support its members taking on such work via its forums and that is why we need closure from a mod on this. This guy's game isn't "artsy" or something, it's turning a crime into sexual fantasy and as he explained on his blog, it may explore other "taboo" subjects as well. The seriousness of the content in question and the acts that it depicts trump decorum and tact, in my mind, but I actually think many responses were quite calm & reasonable, including the one I quoted above. I appreciate your appeal to principle, art, and policy. On the third point, I disagree with you that our standing policy surrounding pornography does not apply. On principle & art... I'm a passionate defender of free speech and I'm opposed to censorship, but my choosing for OCR to be a place devoid of content that in any way exploits sexual abuse & rape is a form of speech too. This is me speaking: I'm not okay with this site and this community providing a resource that aids in the creation of content of this nature. timaeus222, Brandon Strader, Tuberz McGee and 6 others
