Paladin Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I feel slightly out of place in this topic; a newb remixer surrounded by the big names all going for the competition. I think I'll be working on an entry. Although I have no clue what style I'll be going for. Also, not that it matters, but I'd be entering because I love the game - I have a lot of childhood memories of it. So prizes don't come in to it. Quote
tweex Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Just to clarify, the track "Opening/Bombing Run" means that you want the opening song in the game (i.e. the music that you hear when you see the first CS with the stars and Aeris' face) and then to go into the bombing run? I know that there are a couple bombing runs, and which one would need to be done (if this all makes sense). Quote

It would be the first bombing run - as in the mission you're thrown into at the start of the game. Quote
Kanthos Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 The first (or maybe second? Is the prelude first?) track on the OST is called Opening/Bombing Run. The Bombing Run music is never played again, and it plays from when Cloud jumps off the train to when he and Barret get into the first Mako reactor. Quote
zircon Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 You can use the opening theme only, the "bombing mission" theme, or both. Quote
Fishy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Just out of interest, is Lifestream taken? Thats got some similar themes to the intro and I'd love to do a piece with both themes. Would that be suitable for this competition or not? If not I'm gonna make it anyway, just wondering. Quote
zircon Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Life Stream is not taken, and yes, you can integrate that into your arrangement. Quote
tweex Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 What's the name of the lifestream track? I.e. what's the name of it on VGmusic? Quote
Gollgagh Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 What's the name of the lifestream track? I.e. what's the name of it on VGmusic? ehe. Probably "Lifestream." Quote
tweex Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 ehe. Probably "Lifestream." Already checked. It's not under that name, hence why I asked here. Quote
ChloroPhil Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 man I think I'm bout to have a go at barret's. I tried a couple years ago but the result was trash. I got better since then tho. Quote

prophetik music Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 lifestream is, by far, my favorite song in the game. i might do some sort of compilation thing. the ideas that lifestream has fit really nicely with the main theme, and i think that the main theme would fit nicely on a large set of saxophones. now, can i get the arrangement done fast enough to record before i go home on friday? Fishy Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Ok screw my previous idea completely. Get ready for one demented Still More Fighting remix. Quote
dannthr Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Out of curiousity are there any objections to remixing some of the listed tracks together in whole or in part? I want to get a sense of the contest boundaries. Quote
zircon Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 No, you're free to remix them however you want in any ratio you want. If you want to try doing them all in a medley, even that is OK. But it'll be hard to do tastefully. Quote
Reu Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Are we allowed to post our wips for the competition in the wip section? Or does this have to be a secret kinda thing? And who's judging? Quote
zircon Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 User voting - also you can post your wips anywhere, just not the completed version. Quote
Reu Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Ooh oooh! One more question! Can we make multiple submision for the competition? Quote
Dhsu Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 How about finishing your Tales track first? >.> Quote
