SwordBreaker Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I was extremely floored when I read the announcement. Definitely didn't expect Sparkster to make a return. Sadly, I didn't play through the whole series, just the SNES one, which I have fond memories of. Quote
NNY Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I only played/beat the Genesis game. Even own the cart. I think I'll play it again today. Quote
Strike911 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I'm excited, but I gotta be honest, the screenshots making the rounds just don't impress me all that much, not like the other retro games that have been redone. That overblurred background (and the level's looks) just doesn't have the same feeling as the original. Looks like LittleBigPlanet with Sparkster thrown in. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see Sparkster making his triumphant return from the good old Rocket Knight days (I own both the Genesis games and I played the hell out of the SNES version as a kid) but graphically, I'm not really diggin' the new look so far. Still, looking forward to more news. Quote
Upthorn Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 So long as it doesn't play like the horrible Genesis Sparkster (which is nothing like the SNES sparkster), I'll be interested. The screenshots are a little weird though. I don't think I like that art style. Quote
Triad Orion Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 No way. Just... no way. I loved Rocket Knight Adventures when I was a kid. This is exciting! Quote

Strike911 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I have both RKA and Sparkster on my Genesis which I've played through a hundred times. I thoroughly played through Sparkster on the SNES as a child also. My only problem with Sparkster on the Genesis is that, graphically and superficially, it felt like a step backward from Rocket Knight Adventures. The art just wasn't as inspired, imo. Sparkster on the SNES was a lot of fun to play, but yeah, completely different games. SNES version was pathetically easy in comparison to the Genesis title(s), that said, there are still a lot of memorable moments in the Super Nintendo version. ... Rocket Knight Adventures is still my favorite. I like the fact that you can do damage with direct sword attacks. The graphics are just more fun and appealing imo. Quote

Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c2GCwOifIU It's, uh, generally frowned upon to resurrect a three-years dead thread to post a form advertisement of your midirip which isn't even really on topic to the discussion... LuketheXjesse Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I found a copy of this game for Genesis at Goodwill a month ago. I have yet to play it. Quote
Less Ashamed Of Self Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 This is a very very strange thread. Quote
Maco70 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Anyone heard of this Sega Genesis game called Rocket Knight Adventures? It's pretty cool! The second one, called Sparkster came out on the Genesis and SNES. I still have the original cartridge with case and booklet. I played the crap out of it. It took me years to beat it. I will never forget it. EDIT: Wow, a thread so old I actually forgot I already posted in it. Where the hell did this one come from? Quote
Arrow Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Well hey, why don't we turn this necro-bump into a discussion about the upcoming entry in the series coming out for 360, PS3, and Steam next month? I'm super excited for it. Info here for anyone who didn't know about it. Quote

Maco70 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Info here for anyone who didn't know about it. I've seen this... it looks "meh" but I'll wait for a demo to officially say it is "meh". Quote
Salluz Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 It always came across as a Sonic on jet-skis. Quote
The Coop Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Wish I had the $11.99 to get it on sale. I loved RKA and both versions of Sparkster. A part of me wants to wait until some reviews have come in, but another part (the part that's broke) wants to say, "Fuck it, just get it!" Quote
DarkeSword Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Oh man I want this game so bad but it's not out on XBOX yet Quote
