Joe Redifer
Gradius 'X' A horribly short and horribly low encoded (112kbps) tribute to a cool Gradius tune. Nothing special, unless you love sitar more than anything. Sounds out of tune at times. Very abrupt ending.
SsaiskK
ehh.. at first i thought redifer was being a little harsh.. =X i think there was some distortion(??) which would explain a couple weird sounding lines. and.. yeah that ending wasnt too good =X
Joppew
Hmm, despite of the fact that it's really short, I really enjoyed this mix. Somehow the slightly weird sounds used in it always cheer me up a bit, and I think everything blends really nicely. I know this mix is rather old, but it felt wrong to see that there had only been more or less negative response to it.
flipt
Wow late reply for me I actually have this file dated 08/29/2000 in an XM coded with Fast Tracker. Same song, but that explains the reason the encoding sounds bad, all the samples were 16-bit samples and rather small. Can download the XM from http://www.ffmaps.com/images/pub/GRADIUSX.XM if you want.
meccaneer
Redifer... you sound like me... This track is pretty pathetic. It's just a sitar-thing and some bass. That's it. There isn't even drums. It sounds like a straight NSF 2 MIDI rip to me. No offense.
Robotaki
Lol, this could have actually become a good remix, I mean...there's just..."a little" missing from it. But I like to say that anything can become some form of a remix after it's refined...a lot.
OceansAndrew
I'm not sure I could even call this a WIP. :/ It is way too basic, and is pretty much a midi rip slowed down slightly. Not a fan. Sorry.
DragonAvenger
I could see this going lots of different places, but as it is...not so much. More than a few notes that don't fit, strange sounding (not in a good way), and possibly the most ubrupt ending I've heard so far on this site. Palpable
Hahaha, this escaped two lockdowns? OA is dead-on, it's practically a MIDI rip down to it ending exactly after the second repetition. Barely a WIP.
42
I'm disappointed that this wasn't longer. The sitar-like sounds makes me feel like this was performed near the Taj-Mahal. The combination of a shoot 'em up theme with Indian musical vibes make for a real interesting mental image. I'm not ~that~ familiar with the source tune, but apparently, this mix is a little to close to it. Ultimately, I think its ok except for its length. Bahamut
Ah, Memblers of midirip action...this sounds like the one part of the Gradius mix 'Perfect Selection', except with different instruments tossed in.
ella guro
Sounds like he did this in a tracker. It definitely has a really noticeable tracker sound to it (crud samples without any of the neat tracker fx used). Yeah, there's really not much here. His castlevania mix had some interesting parts, but there isn't much of note to talk about with this one. I guess my review is gonna be as short and disappointing as this mix was
Marmiduke
Hahahahahahahahaha. That ending. Yes! YES! This has to, HAS TO, persevere through any and all lockdowns. I will not hear a word against this mix. We must strive to keep this mix on the site forever. This mix is so overshadowed by djpretzel's take on the same tune that was released not too long afterwards. If this one wasn't whipped up in under an hour, it will be just plain embarassing. Who's with me? Let's campaign to keep X on the site! Why? For as good a reason as any. It belongs here because it doesn't belong here. I hope that is well understood. Judges, Vote Yes for X next lockdown. Appease to it's one semi-fan.
Crulex
Um, no. Sorry, just no. Way too short, way too MIDI, and there is really nothing saving this ReMix other than the fact that it's funny to listen to.
Tables
Oh my god. The only reason this is sort of good is that the original tune is catchy. And there are at least a few other, arguably better ways to consume that particular brand of coffee. A sitar-y version of this theme would be neat. But not a one minute midi with no actual ending >< C'est la vie. Better luck next time!
