GreenImp Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I love the Commodore 64 to current sound transition... so tight. And it just keeps getting better form there. You all rock! Quote
tree56 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 The chiptune part reminded me of music from Ratchet and Clank heh. This is one of the best ReMixes on this site and I am truly in awe.......well done on the rest of the FFVII: VOTA album too! Quote
about:blank Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I love how this is like half the length of the source, but just as epic, if not moreso. I'm downloading the torrent right now, and I plan on seeding this for a long time. Great job guys! Quote
PriZm Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 I very seldom post in remix reviews now but I just wanted to say that, after repeated listens, this is simply a fucking amazing mix. Quote
Hellrider Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I reckon if Square/Enix ever did get round to makin a Final fantasy VII remake for the Ps3 something as awesome as this would be the One winged angel theme. Great song, especially the guitar solo t'wards the end. good stuff. Quote
xxricexx Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I'm going to be listening to this when i destroy the Universe. Awesome. Quote
KogeJoe Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 First, let me start off by saying how much I dislike symphonic re-makes. No, not all videogame music sounds "cool" when someone takes the main melody and tries to re-mix it using orchestral sounds. I sometimes wonder, what are these people thinking? And then I go, I know what they're thinking. They're thinking that they're somehow genius and "innovative" for trying to remake a videogame track into some sort of movie sound track. Nope... sorry, doesn't always work. Symphonic does not equal automatic hit. So I wish people would refrain from remaking stuff into "symphonic versions." Aside from getting annoying, everybody and their grandma's done one; it gets old. BUT... My, my, I must say what a beautiful conglomeration of styles we have here. I love the square lead intro. You do a great job of incorporating the symphonic style into this piece of music. The square lead is quiet, but then the symphonic part slowly builds up. But then you don't just leave it there, but incorporate a drum set and totally unrelated rhythm! I like how the square lead is a recurring theme. Nice job of tying this through. My absolute favorite part is at 2:06 when you introduce an entirely different rhythmic pattern than the original. Quite marchy and enroute to distruction. Totally gives a new perspective to an old piece. And then you bring in an electric guitar!!! There's nothing wrong with symphonics as long as people can use them RIGHT. EXCELLENT piece. Quote
Platonist Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 indeed excellent! the only take on OWA that is worth listening to on the other hand - i still prefer the original .. but im probably just biased! awesome stuff Quote
Zombie Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 One of my favorites of Voices! I love the intro. Quote
admeister Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I've always loved One Winged Angel, it's a great piece of music. As soon as I heard about the Voices of the Lifestream album, this was the first track I listened to (especially after I saw who had worked on it). Simply put, I love this ReMix. Everything is done so well, from the unique intro, to the catchy main theme, and the beautiful choir vocals. You guys are amazing. Quote
MisterBiggler Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 When I first listened to the whole project, I'm pretty sure I listened to this, but perhaps I brushed it aside because I didn't recognize it at all when listening to it today. That intro is great, and what the song becomes is amazing as well. It reminds me of Gigyas' theme from Earthbound, not just in how the intro of that is also a chiptune, but in that feeling it gives you that you're getting into some serious shit, much like the source does. Great stuff. Quote
Platonist Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 can't be said enough, awesome source, awesome remix Quote
YamaSamson Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 The song was nice and all, but it was very quite. I had my earphones turned up all the way, the volume on my PC up AND in windows media player all the way up, and it was STILL very quite. Does anyone know how I can possibly edit the song and increase it;s volume? Quote
Lucentas Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 A very solid arrangement, excellent job. Quote
Duokun Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Did someone say...holy crap? Yes, I did. This was an absolutely DOMINATING collabed remix. When the retro tune started "modernizing," I knew for sure something was going to blow me away. I'm glad my hearing is still sharp. With only 7% comp volume, I was slamming to this remix for hours and hours with my headphones. I have no idea how the remixers managed to get a hold of the sephiroth choiring, but it was dang hawt. Five thumbs up for this mix. Quote
a_d Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I suppose one reason is that so many people contributed. Everything from pixietricks' soaring vocal, the choral track, the electric guitar solo, amazing orchestra, and even the 8-bit intro. Truly amazing Quote
Mtlbro Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I love the transition into choir at :40, the chords and effects mind um, boggled me. Great rhythm track, overall a true OCR standard imho. Quote
Loning Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Great collab effort to relive this very well known song. I've heard all the versions of this song remixed and I have to say that this one is in the top two. The guitar part at the end was very well done and created and ending that was magnificent. The only thing though, that i wish was better was the building of the climax. It could have been a litter longer and flowed a little smoother. Overall, this song ranks very high. Quote
tweex Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Steffan Andrews review: This is the first mix from Steffan in about 5 years. Production quality is superb. The growth that Steffan achieved in those 5 years is beyond amazing. It's almost as though it's a totally different person. It's no secret that Steffan has been a fan of Elfman over the years, and this piece definitely showcases that interest! The arrangement is phenomenal and the orchestral brilliant. The way the orchestra fades in with the chiptunes at the beginning is fantastic. I could gush over the orchestral parts in this piece all day, but I've gotta clam up before I never stop! Absolutely brilliant work! Quote
Namine Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I LOVE the beginning and how it continues through the song at times. Don't change a thing. I adore this remix. Quote
halc Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 A song of epic proportions. Not a whole lot to say - every mixer's contribution here is ace. I especially love the chiptune intro <3 Quote
LostChronos Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Not very long, no. And the beginning IS a little weird. BUT. It is very good overall. I can't get tired of one winged angel. Quote

tulala Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 By any chance, do you still have the wav file for this ? It would be awesome to have the lossless version of this remix. Quote
