  1. Hey all, I've cooked up a little remix that I believe fans of Earthbound and fans of music will like. The source track is "Lost Underworld" from the aforementioned Earthbound (as known in America) or Mother 2 (as known in Japan). The game itself was essential for me this was one of my favorite tracks. Perhaps hard-core's will find this to be an odd choice considering the amount of great material from Earthbound, but somehow this one just worked out well with my style. The source is based on organic instrumentation and arrangement, while the remix coats everything in a thick layer of acid (the illegal to distribute and ingest kind). Anyways, just have a listen, and please give me your feedback. This version is about 99% complete, but if somebody has something to add that I feel is worth addressing, I will consider that. Thanks all! The Remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vb385OSemY The Source:
  2. Hello OCR. This is my first time doing a serious remix of a track, and it's been a long time coming--I've wanted to do a mix for ages. Well, I've worked on it quite a while before getting the login details for this old account of mine worked out, so, right now, it's basically "finished" though I am open to other ideas for improving the thing. I've remixed the normal tune for "Palmtree Panic," the first level from Sonic the Hedgehog CD. (Some of the alternate mixes were an influence on the mix, too) Oh, and this is the JP/EU soundtrack, not the American one. Without further adieu: http://soundcloud.com/jonodude/dont-panic Source tune(s), on the following page, for those who want it: http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_CD_OST_(Japan_%26_PAL_regions) Basically what I think I've got going on here is a sort of retro-sounding, fun dance tune, while being sort of spacey sounding. I used the piano progression present in the source(s), which I love, as my foundation and built from there. Overall, I'm rather pleased, but I'm looking for further suggestions, or just confirmation on the quality (good or bad). If you decide to listen, thanks for taking the time!
  3. I guess its ok now. Dunno what to do else. Latest Remix: Source: Enjoy if it possible:-D
  4. Finished! I think.. One way or another that's it: Source:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfFUfeQODx8
  5. This is less of a serious post and more of a plea for help. This is my very first remix, so basically there's about 100 things sucky about it that can be pointed out within the first 10 seconds, but I have to start somewhere, right? I was about to just give up with this entirely but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post what I have here and see if far more talented people than me can give some strong suggestions on improving it, and hopefully get the ball rolling again for me. I'll take advice on absolutely anything as there's definitely a lot to complain about. Oh, and don't be afraid to really dig into me. I need hard criticism to have any chance of getting better. ;P Here's the source: With small elements of: And here's the remix: V1: V2: I'm relatively happy with the first 30 seconds surprisingly. The first transition is where the real suckiness comes in and it's pretty bad from there on. All the transitions are pretty bad and too abrupt. There's really isn't much going on throughout 0:36 - 1:45 because I can't find a good instrument to fit with the steel drums. Whilst I kinda like the sections starting at 1:45, I think it gets real cluttered and probably goes on for too long too. EDIT: Just noticed the mod review option so I thought I'd give that a go as I didn't get any criticism before, which I desperately need if I hope to get any better. Made a a fair amount of edits too and added version 2 which actually cuts out a lot of crap more so than adding anything.
  6. UPDATE 2/1/12: New version! Quad tracked rhythm guitars and a bunch of minor changes. Marked for mod review. 1/18/12: Version 4 Exciting news: ALL electric guitar and sax parts are now live recordings! That's courtesy of Aster and Xenon Odyssey, respectively. This song's come a long way from when it was just MIDI. Other changes: -lots of level adjustments (mostly to mix the guitar/sax recordings) -put a high-pass filter on a bunch of instruments to get rid of unnecessary lows -toned down the lows on the kick in the first half -added a lo-fi/distortion effect to the strings transition -added some movement to the choir in the 2nd half of the rock section -now using EZ Drummer for cymbals and hi-hat; minor drum part changes -now using T-Racks limiter & soft clipper on master track to increase volume (not using Mastering preset like last time) Potential areas for improvement: -Sax needs to blended into the mix. I've messed around with adding reverb but haven't been able to get it to sit naturally with everything else. Could use tips on how to do this. -Spanish-sounding guitar in beginning should be replaced with real guitar. -More movement, particularly in first half, per Monobrow's suggestion. -Overall sound could be better. Still doesn't sound great compared to other songs. Don't know why. :-/ 12/9/11: Version 3 9/7/11: Version 2 Original post 8/4/10: I know, I know, yet another Gerudo WIP (3 on the first page right now)... what can I say, just funny timing. This is my 2nd remix attempt (the 1st being a WIP Hebereke piano mix). It's still very much a work in progress (as you'll no doubt be able to tell), but I'd like some feedback. Whether comments on the arrangement in general, production suggestions (I'm a total newb in that department), telling me how much it sucks, etc. Notes! -I purposely avoided listening to the other Gerudo mixes on the site (was kind of bummed to see there are already 9). Hopefully this isn't similar to any of them. -Everything is fake. I'm hoping to have my brother record the rhythm guitar part. Ideally I'd find someone to record the lead guitar parts, as they obviously don't sound too great right now. They're probably also too loud/messy. -Could probably use more variety in the drum track. Sax could sound better (?). Could just start the song with the normal-sounding guitar/harp-ish instrument rather than messing with the sound in the beginning like I did. -I can't pan at all on my computer right now 'cause my speakers don't fully work with the Audiophile 2496 sound card I just got (I think I need multiple cable adapters), so there will definitely be panning improvements to be made. Enough talk, here's the song: Original version
  7. --=[ Done by request of Artwaste ]=-- (So even if this goes nowhere I can still send you the MP3 if you like it Art). Rev. 2: Livened up the drums with some Equalization. Also added in a soft choir element; that sounds nice, but I'm not quite sure if it adds a good element to the arrangement overall. Rev. 3: Changed the style of the final synth, although I'm not sure it sits well with the rest of the arrangement. Rev. 4: Added bass harmonics and adjusted drums (per NE's suggestion). Rev. 5: Drums came in over the top on last revision, made volume and leveling adjustments. Rev. 6: More drum adjustments. Rev. 7: Converted Drum Samples to Addictive Drums; added portomento (1/32) to the bass melody & mastered all patterns/steps. Rev. 8: Gave the drums more OOMPH in this revision, definitely the ONE. 8. First post, first remix, first everything. Original: Rudora no Hihou (Secret Treasure of the Rudras) is a pretty unknown RPG by Squaresoft for the SNES which hasn't been released outside Japan. Interestingly its composer is the same as the one for Mystic Quest Legend/Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The soundtrack is great (listen to The Spirit Chaser!), why aren't there any remixes up here yet? Anyway, this my first self made remix, though it's probably more of an arrangement than a remix. It's a pretty straightforward orchestration of the main screen's theme, probably way too close to the original to ever meet OCR's guidelines. But it's my first try at arranging, so I'd love feedback anyway (downloadable here, please use sparingly) ...I forgot the ID3 tag The volume is a bit low but that's intended to support the structure (yeah right ^^. I know the end is pretty rough but I actually like it the way it is. Am I overdoing it at the climax and making it too muddy? I don't have any speakers, so I'd like some feedback on the overall soundscape balance. I am also very unsure of the reverb settings.
  9. Ribbit! Y'know, I'm still quite excited about my first published mix \@/, and this time I've been messing with arab countries in general. I decided to make a peaceful, yet dancey mix, and thought I'd get some feedback. Follow the link: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=861 -> not available anymore http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=867 Source's the intro theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvg_zTUCSI0 I've got a problem with a few arab percussion elements. The ones panned to the right sound okay from the headphones, but turns to be quite loud if I change them for the monitor (in which the sound quality comes terribly low). Is it just my monitor or should I make some adjustments? Also, feel free to express some more crits if needed. ...And that's still a working title, that means "peace (be) upon your heart" if I'm not mistaken ;P
  10. Hello! I want to show you all my new Remix of Megaman 3 Intro. I mixed it up with Drum and Bass, hope you like it! btw: I'm 19 and from Germany. It's on Youtube, link: Made it with Reason 4 and some Samples from Megaman games. Greetz Marc
  11. This is that sick theme that appears in Smash Bros8-)... The mix itself is like all my other ones (Heavy Rock!), but has a LOT more piano than I normally use. This is still in the works...I feel comfortable with the production, but I definitely want to change a few parts to my liking. Any feedback is fine. *EDIT* I have changed all the links in this this thread to be the final version. 12. MOVED TO MOD REVIEW: This track is close, but not close enough. I need some extra critque so I can get it 'Just Right' before subbing. Song of Storms remix, done by me; I have some drum plugins but I'm still learning the drum apps and so If anyone would like to, it's a chance to make a wonderful mix, have a listen and let me know if you want to have a go at it. http://soundcloud.com/dbrown1986/wip-zelda-64-oot-rains-treasure-song-of-storms-ocremix-varient-2
  13. I saw this request and I remembered that I had an idea about an orchestral take about Ridley's battle theme from Metroid. I'm planing to make something with strong orchestra and a drum track to "boost" the arrangement (since we can find some drum kits in orchestras) The medley will contain : - (Metroid)- Lower Norfair/Magmoor Caverns (Super Metroid/Metroid Prime) - (Super Metroid and the whole series)DECEMBER 31st VERSION! 14. Hello, OCRemix Mod(s)! I'm DJSoto13 and this is my first attempt at remixing a song. What I've prepared is an ethereal-themed take on Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's "Windmill Hut" (a.k.a. the Song of Storms). The reason I call it a dream is because that's what it reminded me of - the panning audio, the spacey piano, the toybox-like instrument - and although it does contrast with the other part of the song - the drums and the guitars - it still seems like spending a night dreaming in the Kakariko windmill. But I ramble. Hopefully I get some helpful advice from you, and happy listening! P.S. - can you help me with mastering? I feel a little uneasy about the whole thing (it might be evident in the song), but I'm trying to get a more professional, open, and warm sound. Thanks Source: Remix: http://tindeck.com/listen/xbxv
  15. OK I know rhythm guitars have something wrong, I'll fix it. My question is about rest of the track (bass, drums..). And as you can hear I have big problem in solo. I can try again, but if someone can play solo..) I will be honored) Anyway theres link http://fairtilizer.com/track/123807 If someone interest.. Tell me) Thanks! Sorry for Of topic!!!!
  16. I finally decided to give a really old remix another try. I think this was my second of third mix I ever made. Back when I was still learning how to work with FL Studio, I actually thought my mix was good enough to make it past the judges. Boy, was I wrong... This is a remix of "Alone a.k.a. Bio Lab" theme from the SaGa Frontier soundtrack. Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG6kqnDRWTc Old Mix (wma format): http://www.mediafire.com/?rnmgmg3jczz New Mix WIP:http://www.mediafire.com/?2627my7s2sde94f Please let me know what you think of the new mix. (And don't laugh too hard at the old one)
  17. This is Electronic-Rock remix on Mercury stage from Doom Troopers (megadrive) I like this thing, but something unfinished in it and maybe something is wrong. Tell me what do you think. Any critic or something.. Thanks! http://fairtilizer.com/track/122017
  18. http://tindeck.com/listen/ccld It is a remix of Wood Man's stage from the Game Boy version of Mega Man 2. Feel free to be as cruel and relentless as possible in your critique. Seriously! I need something wrong with my song to work on. EDIT: I just put up a different version because the cymbals were obnoxiously loud on the other.
  19. Hey guys. I did this just cause i love the theme. I don't plan on subbing this. Unless of course it has any sort of potential. I just thought i do this real quick. I'm sure i've got other remix matters to attend to, but its nice to take a break and do something for fun, lol. I hope you guys enjoy it!
  20. Hey OCR! Like the title says, I've been coming here for years and now I've got a decent bit of software (Garageband just wasn't cutting it any more...) I thought I'd try a remix of my own. After listening to Malevolent Mansion for months I've sort of had it seeping into my consciousness, and while this doesn't compare, I thought the source was ripe for a fast-paced drum & bass-style arrangement (although admittedly it's not my favourite genre). The game is "Dennis" for the Amiga - an old one, but the old ones are the best, right? Never got past level 2 but the music on level 1 was great - check it out here: UPDATE: After taking a break from this track for a few weeks I've come back to it and given it a complete trimming down, making it almost a minute shorter, less repetitive, and improving the dynamics, as suggested. It also has a title (exciting, I know), based on the name of the bundle my Amiga 1200 was in. Thanks for all the feedback! Edit: changed status to Finished to try and get some final comments before subbing/Mod Review. Finished version below:
  21. Update: Song's in Mod Review! I think the rhythm of the source song fits a tango beat quite well, so that's why I went Argentina this time. What do you think? Remix: http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=790 Source:
  22. This is my 3rd favourite in the list. Good composition as well as suited the character's story and background. The original has made a deep set in my mind of the tune. While I'm having ever since the first release of Street Fighter 2, I wanted to do my own remix on this. However, dream came true. Now, I made this more a sentimental electronica, New Age? Ah well, I'm no so good in genres, have a listen to it and see if it blows your mind... (Caution: Heavy Bass) http://www.jamglue.com/tracks/16014771-Guile-Theme-Remix
  23. Greetings. This is my very first post on OC Remix. I've done this remix quite some time and I've posted on Mobilecastle.biz and Jamglue.com as well, for those listeners who really appreciate the new remix rather the originals. I've finished all the remixes before I heard or saw this OC Remix website before, but I do love the release of the original remixed soundtrack. Okay, long story short. Let's get into business, shall we? This is my first remix started out by Ryu's theme. I never thought of names for the theme I've remixed but now that I think I had to. The groove for this theme is just simply a spice of trance and some electronica beats. Consider this theme is my most favourite theme of all Street Fighter. Please give sincere feedbacks and I'll look into any pros and cons. Until the next post! http://www.jamglue.com/tracks/16014025-Ryu-Theme-Remix
  24. Hey, all, haven't posted something in a while. . . Anyway, I'm gonna start off by saying that I really don't know why there aren't any remixes from this game on this site. The music from this game is freaking awesome, I don't care what anybody thinks. lol And this is one of my favorites from the series, the Temporal Tower theme. Here is a link to the remix: Tower_in_Despair'>http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v1-TheGuitahHeroe- Tower_in_Despair Version 2: http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v2-TheGuitahHeroe-Tower_in_Despair Version 3: http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v3-TheGuitahHeroe-Tower_in_Despair Version 4: http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v4-TheGuitahHeroe-Tower_in_Despair Version 5: http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v5-TheGuitahHeroe-Tower_in_Despair Version 8: http://www.remixsite.org/remixes/201-v8-TheGuitahHeroe-Temporal_Despair And here's the source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn6yNpgjfP8 Feedback would be greatly appreciated -TGH
  25. EDIT: See my top post on page 2 for a major update! I need someone who can play acoustic guitar to replace the Wild Arms lead. [(Not) Final WIP] - See top of page 3 for most recent! [Listen Here (V3)] [Listen Here (V2)] This is a WIP that's been 'in progress' for a looong time, and I finally just sat down and cranked the second half out. There are some known quality issues, which is why it likely won't make it on OCR, since I'm using a tracker with medium-quality samples and poor effects plugins. But I'd at least like some feedback on arrangement and direction. Any thoughts?
