Default Super Dodge Ball: Around the World

Welcome to Around the World, an unofficial Super Dodge Ball remix project. This site project idea was created my myself and maintained by KyleJCrb and myself.

Super Dodge Ball, developed by Technos Japan and released in the US by Sony Imagesoft, is one of my personal favorite NES games. Choosing the right teams, players, and power throws to win in the two-players mode was always fun, and I have many memories involving my brother and myself hitting each other with virtual dodge balls.

The music in this game, composed by the talented Kazuo Sawa (also the composer of Double Dragon, River City Ransom, and others), is a personal favorite video game soundtrack of mine, especially in the single-player mode. Each theme, from the catchy rifts of Team England to the epic, climatic tune of Team Shadow, brings something new to the game and adds to the excitement. I want to recapture that excitement with this remix project.

In addition, I'm looking for a general overall theme for Around the World. The game featured a very ethnic feeling which was mirrored in Sawa's soundtrack. I want the artists to recreate the tracks using ethnical flavor as the artist sees fit.

UPDATES:

9/27/09: Heya, everybody. As Kyle stated, the next WIP deadline is October 26th. Can't wait to hear from you guys, and don't kill yourself working on your track, bLiNd!

9/1/09: The second WIP due date passed today, and we did pretty well. Nearly everyone checked in with Kyle, and we only lost Showroom Dummy to the sands of time. Filling in his spot and taking Team Japan: bLiNd! Welcome to the project!

Again, the third WIP due date is September 21st.

7/23/09: UPDATED WIP DEADLINE INFO FROM KYLEJCRB:

September 21st, 2009 - Third WIP due date
October 26th, 2009 - FINAL TRACK due date

At each date, any remixer who shows no progress and hasn't discussed an alternative plan with me will be booted, with no remorse. The next due date is August 31st, 2009. GO GO GO!

Don't forget that you can sign up and post your WIPs for critique and discussion over at our forums!
6/12/09: As was mentioned yesterday by KyleJCrb, the moss is being shaken off the ball once again and we're making some more progress! A few new and updated WIPs have been received, and 8-Bit Instrument have finished their track! We'll report on the next WIP due date soon!

4/12/09: Kyle's podcast, Nitro Game Injection, has returned! Head on over to KNGI.org and hear Kyle and Larry Oji speak about AtW!

4/5/09: DCT has taken Team Kenya! You what that means? Every track on the album has been claimed! This has never, ever happened before in this way-too-long history of this album! Congratulations to everybody! First WIP deadline on the 18th!

3/31/09: Newcomer DJ Mokram is taking Team China. Holy crap, only Team Kenya is unclaimed?!

3/25/09: (OMG AGAIN?): The band 8-bit Instrumental is taking the Ending/Credits theme! These two tracks have never been claimed before! Just two left!

3/25/09: Showroom Dummy is trying his hand at Team Japan, and pu_freak is tackling the Title Screen. Three tracks still unclaimed!

3/21/09: Another track update: OA is covering Team England. There are a few remixers out there with "potential interest", so we'll see if anything develops.

3/17/09: A number of track updates to report on today. Protricity has been confirmed to take Team India. Sixto Sounds will cover both Team Shadow and Versus Play (chrono26 is still taking those tracks as well. We'll have two versions of both those songs on the final album.) Rexy is taking another look at her Iceland track (she originally finished it in 2006) and is going to change/update the arrangement. Finally, Fishy is offering his services for "guitar wankery" if artists are interested. More developments to come soon.

3/16/09: I regret to inform that Txai is dropping out of the album for personal reasons. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in his future projects.

3/15/09: Now for the announcement that I've been teasing at: let's give a big welcome to the new coordinator for Around the World, fresh off the release of Summoning of Spirits: KyleJCrb! Kyle will be handling contacting remixers and filling up the last positions on the soundtrack, so please refer to him for anyone who is interested in filling up the remaining slots on the album. Welcome again, Kyle!

If you know the correct track order, convert the NSF you found to NSFe and reorder/name the tracks

Ok. I'm not sure how to do that, but a trip to Google should help.

Thanks.

Ok, I went through Google and found a great NEFe of the soundtrack. This is exactly what I need.

I'll start thinking more about this project after the Kirby and DOOM projects finish up. In the meantime, I'm gonna listen to the Team England track and think of the awesome remix that could come from it.

If anyone wants to use this thread to throw around ideas or express interest in this project, go right ahead.

By the way, here's the nsfe link.

Fools. USSR is the best song. And dude, I hope you don't give up on this idea. The entire Super Dodge Ball soundtrack is one of the finest on the NES, and it deserves a full makeover. Good luck!

You're both fools. The evil-shadow-your-own-guys soundtrack is the best.

This man speaks the truth. If I find the time I can attempt [poorly] to guitar up the USSR track. [I'm in the midst of learning how to mix and shit]
