Default SDB: Around the World - FINAL DEADLINE NOV. 1ST

Welcome to Around the World, the Super Dodge Ball remix project. This site project idea was created my myself and maintained by KyleJCrb and myself.

DOWNLOAD THE TEASER TRACK FOR AROUND THE WORLD HERE!

Super Dodge Ball, developed by Technos Japan and released in the US by Sony Imagesoft, is one of my personal favorite NES games. Choosing the right teams, players, and power throws to win in the two-players mode was always fun, and I have many memories involving my brother and myself hitting each other with virtual dodge balls.

The music in this game, composed by the talented Kazuo Sawa (also the composer of Double Dragon, River City Ransom, and others), is a personal favorite video game soundtrack of mine, especially in the single-player mode. Each theme, from the catchy rifts of Team England to the epic, climatic tune of Team Shadow, brings something new to the game and adds to the excitement. I want to recapture that excitement with this remix project.

In addition, I'm looking for a general overall theme for Around the World. The game featured a very ethnic feeling which was mirrored in Sawa's soundtrack. I want the artists to recreate the tracks using ethnical flavor as the artist sees fit.

UPDATES:

9/4/10: I think the time has finally come. All of the people who are in the WIP stages now are nearly finished with their tracks. With this in mind, I am setting a FINAL DEADLINE for November 1st, two months from now. Send the final .wav render to either Kyle or myself before that date. We're so close now to reaching our goal of finishing all the music this year!

7/13/10: Some small updates: Rexy's track is finished, and Stevo aka Level 99 has contributed some live guitar to Protricity's track!

4/1/10: Odd, it seems like this project gets canceled every year on the first of April...

3/22/10: It is WIP deadline time once again, we're looking good, and nearly everyone has checked in. No time to waste, most of these tracks are very close to completion, so we're shooting for a closer date to the next deadline: April 12th!

I've also reworked the track listing to more accurately reflect the progress we've been making. 7 Tracks are totally finished, 4 are in WIP state, and 2 are being reworked from their earlier versions. I've also updated with the names of the other rappers currently on DCT's track, including his fellow Urbanizm Music colleagues Khakolak Boy and JustUs (who you may remember from the classic Sonic 3 ReMix), and also featuring the fantastic Navi aka Mythril Nazgul!

Believe it not, Kyle and I still have a couple more surprises up our sleeves regarding the album! Stay tuned!

1/6/10: Due to the popular demand (of two people, haha), we've released a teaser track for Around the World! From The Man himself, Mr. KyleJCrb:

The one here will be included as a bonus track since it wasn't quite finished. The rest will be on the final project, but are subject to be tweaked, changed, or revamped without reason.

As for which track is which, you'll have to figure that out yourself. No tracklist for you!

1/5/10: Happy New Year, everybody! Some big announcements to make: Rexy is finished, chrono26 is finished, and everybody else is moving closer to completion (Protricity, and Monobrow even updated me in person at MAGFest! *squee*) But this is the biggest Around the World announcement to date: one of my favorite rappers in the nerdcore scene is joining the album! It's none other than Random aka Mega Ran, who released his Mega Ran and Mega Ran 9 albums to much acclaim in the game music and hip-hop communities. He'll be providing lyrics over DCT and LuIza's Team Kenya mix, and I've gotta say that I'm more than excited by this news. 2010 will be the year for Around the World!

12/28/09: Another quick update on the album, the talented LuIzA has joined up to provide guitar work for the Team Kenya track! I've heard the most recent WIP, and it's getting better and better. Speaking of, a little angel that used to be a dodge ball player told me that another big name might be jumping on that track, as well.....

12/3/09: Unfortunately, Sixto is backing out of the project. Stepping up for him is Willrock! The next WIP deadline has been set for January 5th, the day after MAGfest.

If you know the correct track order, convert the NSF you found to NSFe and reorder/name the tracks

Ok. I'm not sure how to do that, but a trip to Google should help.

Thanks.

Ok, I went through Google and found a great NEFe of the soundtrack. This is exactly what I need.

I'll start thinking more about this project after the Kirby and DOOM projects finish up. In the meantime, I'm gonna listen to the Team England track and think of the awesome remix that could come from it.

If anyone wants to use this thread to throw around ideas or express interest in this project, go right ahead.

By the way, here's the nsfe link.

Fools. USSR is the best song. And dude, I hope you don't give up on this idea. The entire Super Dodge Ball soundtrack is one of the finest on the NES, and it deserves a full makeover. Good luck!

You're both fools. The evil-shadow-your-own-guys soundtrack is the best.

This man speaks the truth. If I find the time I can attempt [poorly] to guitar up the USSR track. [I'm in the midst of learning how to mix and shit]
