  1. Oh dear. The old, more-WiP-than-finished version of my song is so weak sauce in the trailer =D But what a privilege to have been a part of such an epic lineup of remixers. I'm like, a snot-faced greenhorn compared to these guys whose remixes I've been listening to since like 2007. Gotta do a review of the whole album soon but it'd be kinda weird to be the first one to do so as an artist

  2. Ditto Subz1987 on his comment; I had every intention of trying to hold a grudge against this mix, and I couldn't make it 20 seconds in before abandoning all pretense. Darkesword nailed it: this is one of the iconic FF V themes, and frankly, I can't believe the quality and rework this one takes on. It transports Fate in Haze into an entirely new world while still keeping its truly mystical heart; that the remixer was able to marry those two concepts together astounds me! The bass line through the beautifully sparse main sections works so gorgeously with the return of the instrumentation. I loved it every time. Special props for 3:05-3:25, which adds even a little more feel to an already A piece. Somehow, some way, it must be said - worth the wait!!

  3. Edit 6/10 I can officially announce the presenters and their paper subjects, so here they are! Tekla Babyak (Cornell University) -- Music, Card Games, and the Play of Sensation: Kant’s Ludomusical Aesthetics Karen Cook (University of Hartford): Video Games and Chant (specific title TBD) Steve Reale (Youngstown State University): Glass Beads and Graphic Analysis: A Ludist Account of Contemporary Music Theory Carmel Raz (Columbia University): Anne Young’s “Musical Games” (1801): Music Theory, Gender, and Game Design Kirsten Carithers (Northwestern University): Not Just Fun and Games: Musical Indeterminacy as User-Generated Content I am especially excited for Karen Cook's chant paper -- I love liturgy, and I love when chant is utilized in games, the most popular example being the Kyrie in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood's (and SOTN, and others) menu screen that casts Dracula as the Antichrist. All of them should be great though! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've looked through all of the abstracts now, and we are going to have an awesome event in Vancouver. I'll share more once the other committee members have voted and we have official results...

  4. Another suggestion: Don't EQ a kick for extra low-end weight. Just use a sample that has that weight already or layer it with another kick - it's probably just simpler that way.

  7. AngelCityOutlaw

    Dark Souls 3

I am not American. $85 of your money is $107 of mine. Also, while Steam does have it on for 66.49 and 27 for the season pass, it does me no good since I don't have the graphics card for it. I'd be forced to get it on PS4, where it costs 79.99 for the basic game and about 30 for the season pass.

  8. This sounds like it'll be an awesome album. I noticed there's no love for Dark Duel Stories in the Yugioh section though. That game was my jam.
