  2. This is a great recommendation, Gar! Really? I haven't been having any problems with the Ghost In The Shell Game. Speaking of, you should add me up on Steam and we can play if you want!

  3. Yes. At least that's how I do it. Most people I know here do it by ear too. No. No. No.

  4. My impression with copyrights (and someone else can chime in if I'm wrong), is that when you create the project file and the song, you've created the copyright, all rights reserved, and it's yours. It's only when you start using a label or service that you can lend copyright control to the party in question (i.e using soundcloud you can give the song a creative common licence, etc.) No, people do this, there is very little you can do about it other than e-mailing them directly saying 'hey cut that out', or e-mailing the service hosting the stolen productions claiming it's your work and you never gave permission.

  5. Congrats Kat! Really good entries overall and pretty happy with mine (even if it's not at your levels yet). Until next time

  7. I'm still half-asleep; I was not ready for this. Narration, didgeridoo, a flute solo, and yeah, even a music box. Sinister and ingenious.

  8. Really? It's one of my favorites. BTW the old "Water" album sounds pretty neat out of speakers. Now I have to go convince my suitemates this is for meditation or something.

  9. Yes. Looking at MIDI files, sheet music or guitar tabs is a great way to learn about arrangement, voicing, harmonies etc. (assuming they're properly transcribed) However, if you're going beyond that (sound design, production, recording), you'll need a lot more. Tutorials, videos, and lots of trial&error. Just copying a MIDI, replacing all instruments and calling it your own song is not the way to go.

  10. FFXII all over your face. But it's already so epic, involving, varied and all round excellent that any remix would have to be totally out of the ballpark to do it justice. The album would have to be themed (imo) in a similar vein to how Super Cartography Bros. stuck to a genre.

  11. On the contrary to some others, I really enjoyed DJ Chako's take on Frostman's stage. It took me a few listens for me to get a feel for it and decide to keep it, and I definitely felt this mix had an appropriate icy feel to it. The lack of bass does NOT effectively kill off "Frosty Delight," and, while not a merely a minimalist track, less does end up meaning more with this one. The main background effect (the one you hear from the very beginning) manages to make this mix fuller overall, and I'd recommend that you weather the criticisms and check it out. Ryu7x's "Synthetic Future" is a great mix as well, but this one is also quality.
