  1. OC ReMix Announces Official 501c3 Non-Profit Status as Project of Game Music Initiative, Inc November 24th, 2017 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA... OverClocked ReMix today announced its status as a fully-sponsored project of Game Music Initiative, Inc (GMI), a newly-formed 501c3 non-profit charitable organization devoted to the promotion of video game music as an art form. Established on November 26th, 2016, the mission of GMI is as follows: EDUCATE the world about game music as an art form, PROMOTE game music and game composers, RESEARCH game music and contribute to the body of free and open knowledge, PRESERVE the history of game music and archive relevant artifacts, PROVIDE resources for existing and aspiring game composers, PROTECT the right to explore game music through transformative works and assistive technologies, and SUPPORT any projects that advance these goals. OverClocked ReMix founder David W. Lloyd expressed his enthusiasm about this development and the need for such a transition: "For seventeen years, OverClocked ReMix has been a community effort, but has been owned by a single individual, myself, and not officially registered as a 501c3 charitable organization. Game Music Initiative was created to support this project, and others like it in the future, and provides permanent assurance of non-profit status while also enhancing financial transparency & operational continuity," Mr. Lloyd noted. "This transition paves the way for exciting developments ahead, makes all donations from US citizens tax deductible, and builds on the foundation of trust and long-term commitment that OC ReMix has developed since 1999." More information about GMI, including its board of directors, can be found at https://gamemusic.org. An FAQ is available and will be updated to address any questions surrounding this change of status. 2. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) Round 84: Paper Mario (The Thousand-Year Door) - Petal Meadows Midi: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP84_PMTTYOD_Petal_Meadows.mid Youtube: Deadline: Dec 7 Thurs @ 1PM Vote Ends: Dec 9 Sat @ 11PM Submit your remix Here when completed. MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded. BONUS entries are exempt of this rule. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

  4. I was instantly taken back to playing this game for the first time. This is a great remix with some nice nice retro feel to it.

  5. Ah, MkVaff, one of the true OG's of OCR lore; he's pretty much up there with Disco Dan and IAmEvil as far as prestige goes. I'm glad we were able to post this track - it's an entertaining as hell arrangement of an under-represented soundtrack - and I'm excited to hear what you got in store for us in the future.

  8. In the past 2 weeks, we've been wrapping up work on the album, received some track updates, finished the artwork and other bits and bobs. In short: we just sent over the final package to OCR staff so they can do their thing and bring it to y'all. To celebrate, I updated the first post of this thread with the album art as a teaser for the good things to come. Only a bit more time before we can finally share the good stuff with you all

  9. This is one of my latest tunes I produced mainly with Spitfire Albion I and 8Dio choirs. I wanted to go for this kind of epic fantasy / epic trailer sound that creates a strong sense of adventure and the anxious joy that is related that epic moment.

  10. Between Voltron, new Star Trek and Blade Runner, it felt mandatory for me to take a stab at a classic sci-fi theme.

  11. And I don't even think the Sonic soundtracks make particularly effective use of the hardware, even if they sound good as they are. Last week I did a cover of Spring Yard precisely for this reason My videos showcase each individual channel so you can kind of see what's going on. But I also made the Deflemask project public so you can download Deflemask and open it there to take a closer look at what I did differently from the original. http://www.deflemask.com/forum/show-off-your-work/sonic-1-spring-yard-zone-(genesis)/
