  1. I want to start out by saying how much I LOVE this site and HUGELY appreciate all the super awesome, talented remixxers who have given me my best driving tunes for years. There's nothing cooler than hearing hot new takes on game tracks that mean a lot to me. So, that said: Hi! I'm Rowena, from Cape Town, South Africa. My tiptop gaming franchise is LoZ, and I found this place after seeing some of the Link To The Past special album in a YouTube Let'splayer's video on Lynel fighting. I have a newb-o-rama question: if there's a game track that there's no remixes of -- specifically in this case, the Gerudo Desert theme from Twilight Princess (and I'm not sure *how* there's no remixes, but I guess it always gets overshadowed by the Gerudo Valley theme) -- apart from simply requesting it on the suggestions forum and waiting in hope... is it possible to set up kind of a call for commission or contest? I'm an illustrator, so I could offer game character art as a prize (http://faerthingpen.tumblr.com), if that appeals to anyone? Thanks again!!

  2. Your improvisation with the flute is quite enjoyable, a refreshing twist on an oft arranged song. I'll admit that the recording quality isn't the best, and that the piano sounds a little too quiet, but you've got something great going on here. Keep at it!

  3. Ok, I'm interested. I would really really enjoy some live flute on this! I know I already submitted, but whatever. PM me with some deets!

  4. Cool stuff, it reminds me of something in Super Mario Galaxy, don't know what track specifically. If you want I could record some actual flute for this, maybe add a little solo if desired. :)

  5. Really like this, and is that a little bit of the "Link sneaking around" music I hear, too? Anyway, yeah, the mixing I quite like, although as a bass player, maybe your velocities during the bass solo could be given a tiny bit of variety? Like mix in a couple quieter notes as well if you wanna go for full-on realism. Otherwise the sounds are all very good. Crispy woodblock, and that wacky distorted organ has a great tone.

  6. Powerfully disagree with DD being the best MK game, but I love the track, haha. Super relaxed vibe, and nice interweaving of the different melodies, although I guess I expected the original melody to return at the end. The one thing I'll nitpick is that maybe the wave sounds are a bit too loud, or happen once to many times, as I was a little distracted by them. But it was good enough for me to listen twice!! I especially dig the guitar.

  8. Deserving of praise. Everything in the arrangement feels very carefully considered, it flows wonderfully.. the nods to secondary source material are embedded in a natural fashion and serve a purpose in the overall piece of music. The sound is good and compliments the emotion within the arrangement. This feels like something that came together on every level. Much enjoyed!

  9. I'm slowly playing through Oracle of Seasons for the first time - I haven't made it this far in the game, but it feels like I recognize the vibe. I tremendously enjoy the unusual acoustic small ensemble. I like the flute bends, though the one at 0:19 feels like an off-key note unless I'm listening very carefully (I mean, I don't really hear the bend very well as it is masked by another note). To comment on the comments about structure, personally I quite often like to-the-point structures that pack their punch, or even ones that feel deliberately "incomplete". In this case.. the arrangement is short enough that it does not need a break for the listener inside it. No intro nor outro either to ease you in or out, it just delivers direct from start to finish. The ending is abrupt, but to me it leaves behind a sense of wondering. Track like this often works in a larger context, where this piece, what comes before, and what comes after, make for a greater than the sum of their parts. For me this track is fine on its own - you can add your own silence before and after, but it probably does not work that well in a random or not-carefully-selected playlist or stream.
