  1. Biased because I help the site run these days, but I came in as just a fan (and am not a musician). Once I tried all the arrangements outside of the games I was nostalgic for, I only then realized how special this site and the community was. If you’re interested in video game music, music production and collaboration, there’s arguably no better place to get better than here. In terms of other VGM hobbyist arrangement communities, other places have more relaxed standards (not inherently a bad thing, just different, and OCR started the same way), and in terms of pro audio communities, it’s oftentimes difficult to get in depth (or civil and constructive) feedback. There also the Discord server, which you should join at https://discord.gg/VABjqGa.

  2. I would say yes. I've been lurking here since the site opened. I started posting music around 2011 to the submission hoping that I can increase my ability as a musician. You have a really great community over here ready to give feedback and share their ambition either about games, or game music itself. I really recommend it.

  5. ThaSauce went down for quite some time, so my entry that i have ready couldn't be uploaded. Would it be ok if we have like a couples hours extension to account for that so i can get my submission in? @Bundeslang Here's a dropbox link in case not: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lx6xvnrzokdmqcp/Aquatic Beats.mp3?dl=0

  7. With the forum and the comments being less used then back in the day, I think the main page could do with a reorganization. Moving the new tracks front and center, or something like that. Considering most of the community has moved to Discord, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a link for that somewhere. And Soundcloud is great and all, but the Jet Force Gemini album came out nine months ago but it takes up a ton of real estate. I suppose it looks fine on mobile, though I'm sure it could be more streaming friendly. Anyway, I suggest all of that without having any knowledge of future site plans, costs or the amount of time any of that would take.

  8. Just chiming in quickly; I think the production bar could stand to be lowered a bit, especially on the more subjective mixing/mastering front for relatively complex/ambitious tracks like this. I get that there are certain common types of issues that are easy to cite - a smidge too much compression, crowding, etc. - but I feel like a mix of this particular arrangement/production balance should always make it through; pretty surprised this was as close a call as it was.
