  1. That does not connect with what I said at all. Bottom line: Don't commit Animal Cruelty, no matter how much they vomit all over you.
  2. I'd like to forward this to PETA - just to see what happens. Also, Brandon, certainly you haven't just been banking on OCR, Thasauce and whatever similar avenues for CD sales, have you? You've actively and hopefully intelligently been trying to increase its reach across the internet, correct?
  3. Thats my point. If you make it rock, no one cares how well it sounds - it just has to sound clear enough.
  4. It wasn't limited to this thread, but many over the course of the year. I just get sick of it and I can't figure out why no else does. This isn't strictly a community of professionals with all their own studios and such, this is a community of professionals and total amateur and everything in between. I feel like there's a lot of wankery but not a lot of perspective and it goes back to the myth that there's a higher priority on the quality of the samples than the skill it takes to use them. No one's doing much to encourage the amateurs to improve themselves with the shitty samples they have and try to make something through that, as history has shown its more than possible, instead we keep wankering about the right samples and the right DAW for them and the right amps and how much award-winning professional products suck and watching high school student bicker with near-middle-age adults over stuff that just leaves the topic creator confused and even further back than when he or she came in. So yeah, that outburst came of nowhere, but its been there looking for a foothold for some time. I actually didn't see your Megaman X comment until now. That was entire coincidental.
  5. As far as recommending free drum samples - the following soundfonts should suffice ok until you can afford some good stuff: +Hip Hop Combo.sf2 463-Rob.sf2 Alesis D4 Drum Module-full (total 500 drum samples).sf2 bennetng_8850asia_ethnic.sf2 drum_industrial.sf2 Korg M1 Drum Kit.sf2 Google those and see what you come up with.
  6. Yay a vocaloid thread! And this has been a long time boiling but oh my God you guitar hard-ons need to get a life. Your misguided elitism is whats killing the experience for promising amateurs and hobbyists. Of course nothing is going to compare to a talented guitarist on a quality guitar doing quality work with a quality setup. The point of samples are to substitute that as best they can for someone who can't afford to get that. After that, you're supposed to swallow hard, accept what you have to work with, and make some killer music with it. No one gave a shit about Mega Man X (SNES)'s soundtrack having just above the shittiest MIDIest guitar samples around because the music guys made it rock anyway. Use what you have to work with, write good compositions within it, mix it to the best of your ability and put it out there with confidence and you will find an audience. If you do that with Shreddage - awesome. If you do it with Ele6tricity - even better. Your audience won't care what samples you use, they just want to rock. End of story. Wow - that really felt good to rant after months and months of watching you guys bicker about that shit.
  7. So its a European Three Stooges running a Japanese company? Makes sense.
  8. I will post for the sake of argument that that doesn't change what few avenues budding game composers are getting these days are for free work or chump change. For a complete nobody like me, stuff like this is all we're offered and sometimes we even have to beg for it. Wanna know why I don't get paid for any of my music? Because I'm not Zircon, or Danny B, or Dan Reynolds, or Jeffball. The chasm between the haves and have nots is so wide in this industry now that nothing can truly be shared or learned. You only get two options then: Play the game or kill the dream. I'm probably going to submit something because I refuse to kill the dream. No one is going to pay for nobodies - that's the bottom line in this industry. At least this way if I fail to uphold the dream, I can at least say it wasn't for lack of effort.
  9. Man, I already got a WIP or two from last night's recruitment wave. About 6 or 7 composers wrote me with interest in our project. Also, Stevo should have my email or at least some way to reach me. If he does not, he fails hard.
  10. Ocremix needs Like buttons for this very reason.
  11. You like to fight fire with fire... in reverse?
  12. Fixed for accuracy. I had no idea how popular this series was until everyone who has ever lived and died on the interweb jumped up to sing hallelujah when it was announced. I never heard ANYONE talk about Mega Man Legend or Mega Man Legend 2 or, God forbid, Mega Man Legend 64, ever. What have I been missing?
  13. We're OCR, not the USSR. It's fine. What a thing to be picky about...
  14. Hey man, I've been trying to reach you. You got a few minutes?

  15. I mean, I'm not trying to be an asshole, but thats not what this forum is supposed to do. The Recruit thread is supposed to recruit people, not be homesteads for project threads that aren't ocremix. I'm also not trying to minimod, but stuff like this drives me nuts, especially when other smaller threads have done this and been commented on by moderation. No hate to anyone on here, I just can't figure out why this topic is allowed to homestead here when others have not.
  16. How is this a Recruit thread when its 110 posts in and the project nearly done?
  17. My dad was very briefly married into the Johnny Cash family. Unfortunately I forget her name and the only way I know how to identify her was to say she was the one that died in her tour bus.
  18. Don't listen to any country music past 1976, because after that popular opinion dictates its not REAL country. (whatever) Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash - that should all be a wealth of stuff right there. Fun fact: If I were 10 years older, I would be Johnny Cash's grandson. No lie. Also: closest I can even think of to Progressive Rock/Country is, no lie, Charlie Daniels "Devil Went Down to Georgia." I'm not a huge country guy, but I've never heard anything like that before and CHarlie does for the fiddle what all these prog-rock wanks do on their Moogs and Hammonds.
  19. You want a gaming accomplishment? I caused my FFV (PS1) game to go back in time while retaining the items and progress I already made. At some point during World 3, I had gone about halfway through it I guess, when I saw that towns that were sucked up into the void were back. I went through them and it genuinely was like they never left. I went back to Tycoon Castle and the party was still going on while Leina was in my time. The creepy part? The game acknowledged this and she was gone from the throne. These people were partying for nothing. To this day, that image creeps the hell out of me. Finally I came to figure out it had actually gone back to time and I had to redo those events. So I did it and played through the pyramid. After that, Leina disappeared and I had to get her back through that boss fight again. The ship had come, but very much due to the glitch I'm sure, I could never find it. The game was stuck and I had to start over. Someone I described this too told me the game had skipped an action flag, but I don't believe that. It hit the action flag and then somehow made this Back to the Future II thing out of what I had. To this day I've never seen anything like it from a console game.
