My dad used to tell this story about how he and some friends went to see some rock concerts at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. At one point during the show, the police got involved. Tear Gas was thrown and a huge riot broke out. More tear gas and I guess shots were fired and some other weird shit happened. Then, finally, in the midst of things, Jethro Tull of all people comes out on stage, screams "It's fucking World War III!" and starts blasting away on his flute while the fights and shots continue. That's what I started thinking about when I read that article. This whole Sonic 4 thing is getting pretty fucked up and wild in the fandom community.

Here's something fun I just found out. Apparently that Stage 1 music nobody likes uses a Korg Wavestation (or Wavestation SR) to generate that fake chiptune sound. I was just playing with mine a minute ago on "Bright Synth Split" and starting playing the bar few bars when I was surprised to find out that was the exact tone from the game. I just thought that was interesting. In the grand scheme of synth sounds out there, what are the odds you start playing a song with the exact synth tone the original uses on the first try? 1-100,000? Something like that?

Instead of just doing the soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I think OCR should do Sonic the Hedgehog 4 entirely, since we all seem to know so much about what it should be. Should be a breeze with so many self-qualified experts congregating together in one place! Seriously, I just want to watch you people scramble like ants, ANTS I SAID, to achieve a vain triumph and learn respect for your follow man. I don't know about the rest of you who have so much life to waste, but I prefer to wait until the game is COMPLETE and I PLAY IT before I start ragecumming all over Christendom. And I will repeat this message, every 4 days, with increasing esoteric verbosity, until 10 years after the game is released.

I think part of it is just that we've already seen it before and no one's really falling for it. That's the key part to any April Fools - it has to be believable, and 2,000+ active members all taking a look at the biggest event of the day are not all going to be in on the joke. Don't get me wrong - ASS was a GREAT joke. It was very creative, well executed, and I legitimately soiled my monitor twice during the day. Darkesword had the BEST comment on it that I was laughing at even today. It's just that by now, we come to expect OCR charging for downloads, doing bullshit deals with EA Sports, etc. There wasn't a surprise factor until Zircon and everyone came up with "Macarena of Time" which was absolutely perfect in every way. That's all that was really missing and it was up front. I still thought it was a GREAT progression and one of the more memorable April Fools I've seen in a while.

What strikes me the most about this mix is why no one's ever tried to do it before. The samples from the game and the rhymes are so seamlessly put in, that it's almost OBVIOUS someone was meant to do a mix like this. I've been posting this MP3 as far as I can see, to every channel I can find because the whole world deserves to hear it.
