  1. Already taken care of here, and I highly advise anyone with a Wii to do it also. Currently have nes/snes/genesis/tg-16/gba all running just fine (though the GBA emulation could stand to be slightly faster, I'm not complaining about something that's free). Also, Yahtzwii homebrew is fun as hell. Super Mario War is damn near the best thing ever....except that it randomly crashes on my console. Any other Wii homebrew users have a problem with it?
  2. Are there any differences (besides using the remote instead of the mouse) between the PC and Wii versions of World of Goo? Usually given the option I prefer things on the PC -- I've seen and played a little of the PC version as well, but haven't seen it on the Wii.
  3. I asked for almost specifically not this Luke . Also before I got homebrew I bought Super Metroid and about 10 other big classics. Still, SM is an awesome game that I didn't mention I had -- definitely a good choice for anyone else reading this with the same question as me. I've heard good things about Castlevania. Your views seem to match almost exactly match mine -- love the Startropics choice (also on the short list of what I've paid for). Probably not getting FF4.5 because of the high price, thanks for the reminder about that as well. I'd happily get Phoenix Wright if I didn't already have them for DS. Don't remember hearing about this one, I'll look it up. Thanks!
  4. I got an incredible 4000 Wii Points this holiday season, and need help spending the back half of them. I got Majora's Mask and LostWinds 2 with the first $20. I don't need NES/SNES/Genesis games because I run homebrew and emulate the older systems. Castlevania Rebirth looks pretty good, as does Mega Man 10 (though that will be a wait). What other good WiiWare titles are out there? Thanks in advance, everyone.
  5. I did enjoy everything very much, thanks a ton! Finally got in today, after the big drive back from St. Louis.
  6. Saw it earlier today, and I agree with the Zeal comparisons. Beautiful film, though much like Star Wars before, the movies with the best effects are never the films with the best acting. Despite that fact, I enjoyed it a great deal. As far as the raw technology, I see more applications in gaming than the silver screen -- I really want to have that kind of depth of field while playing the next Crysis or (especially) Elder Scrolls V.
  7. Starfy is okay but not great, and for multiplayer on the DS, there's nothing better than Clubhouse Games. If you're lame and don't play cards, then both Contra 4 and FF: Crystal Chroncles are decent. Darkesword and I enjoyed FFCC enough that we were going to play a bunch over wifi.....but Nintendo systems aren't actually designed for it (there was too much lag to play). That being said, the DS has really good local play, and works fine with friends closeby.
  8. Congratulations! I hope you enjoy married life as much as I do!
  9. I got the rest of my RA Salvatore book collection completed by my inlaws -- 3-5 of Cleric Quintet, and the Hunter's Blades Trilogy. Also got The Lost Symbol, $20 in Wii Points (hooray LostWinds -- unless someone here has a stronger recommendation for me), and other minor things (book light with book, loads of candy, 3 pairs pants, etc). Oh, and my sister in-law (getting her master's in painting) painted me a BardicKnowledge illustration based on Doulifee's awesome forum sig to hang on my wall...which is completely badass. I had commissioned her to make a replacement cover art for my fightstick, and she made me a big 16x20 illustration that I can shrink down to fit the stick. I'll post pics of it when I get home to Minnesota. She also gave us a picture of the two daughters on their side of the family with their Mom, but it's not as cool
  10. Merry Christmas, everyone! Got a really rich haul of books this year (the remaining RA Salvatore books I'm missing to complete my Drizzt / Cadderly collection, and Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol") from my inlaws, and a Wii Points card...amazing from them as they have no idea how to use it. My wife must have wrote a list for them...... ....which is great, and should happen every year. Hope everyone is enjoying their vacations!
  11. You're welcome, Hemo -- have a good vacation! Incidentally, I won't be home to get my gift until the 4th or 5th...can't wait!
  12. Halt got to me first, so he wins. I'd actually already mailed it out by the time I saw my PMs (today). Prophet, please update the list to show that my 7800GTX is sold. Thanks, and happy holidays!
  13. Love the idea of crashing the Bond party gang, though getting lost in the staircases/kitchens is the way to do it Sad I won't be there...hopefully I'll be back for 2011 and M9.
  14. I haven't gotten mine yet, and because I'm leaving tomorrow, I won't get it until after New Year's Thanks in advance to whoever bought me stuff, and I hope everyone has a good holiday vacation!
  15. I'm a big fan of the Power Blade series' music on NES. Not super rare, but not as widely known as the games it rips concepts from either.
  16. I'm late, and am sending mine off tomorrow. Apologies to my SS for the delay, but you're getting a couple really awesome CD's so it should all be good.
  17. Love the updates, looking forward to blasting with you guys early tomorrow.
  18. Deadwood can also treewalk to prevent sand-escapes -- not a bad counter to him IMO if you have to fight. This is probably the best strategy, though you'll still take Radiance damage the entire teamfight then (Barrier Idol will fix this though).
  19. Test patch has another item rework that's really sweet. Finally fixes the problem of Hack and Slash being terrible. Thoughts? TLDR: Frostwolf is now an upgraded Hack -- Fenrir's Blade no longer exists. Hack always procs the slow now. H&S seems viable as a result of the changes, as it gives 15% movespeed instead of 10% on geo's (and none on frostwolf).
  20. Movie is meh, but as people have said above, Zelda is kinda hot so it's not a total waste. Not enough action or plot, it kind of stumbles around for the first hour. Malon/Talon done well though. No revisit of Saria as sage was the dumbest choice in the script IMO.
  21. Joystick + Mouse would be a totally viable combo for playing the Descent series. I'll give it a shot the next time I play it. Incidentally, the last time I loaded up Descent 3, I had just gotten my 360 controller. It has two analog sticks and a lot of buttons...turns out that it is the absolute minimum number of switches and buttons you need to play the game. Still not ideal though as analog sticks feel a lot worse than big joysticks.
  22. Tensei just means on the last creep wave you're going to take, nuke and get out. Don't waste time being vulnerable by trying to deny past the river etc.
