Nymphora has great potential -- even though her heal doesn't directly scale, it's such a huge base number (the highest in the game) that it's relevant until very lategame. Early game you're a fountain, and if you land the heal on an enemy it's a kill more often than not. She isn't as good of a support character as Jereziah or Demented Shaman, but the two of them are usually banned anyway. She is better than Glacius in many llineups, especially as a babysitter for Madman and Behemoth/Pebbles (to get them portkey asap). Neither has a great presence lategame, but her skills scale better than Glacius's do.

Disconnecting during a match sucks. My apologies to zirc and bahamut, though we were probably going to lose anyway.

Why is Void Talisman so underused? I played Glacius just now, and had a blast with it -- void + ult kept me alive and safe during the ult easy. As long as you don't rely on your auto-attack (90% of INT heroes), why aren't you getting this to counter carries lategame? It works better than Barbed Armor against them (even after the recent buffs to Barbed) unless you're playing a high HP STR hero.

OCR oldskool Saturdays: Quake 3 Arena
BardicKnowledge replied to FireSlash's topic in General Discussion
This Thursday is going to be cleaning night, so I may be out this week. Too bad, as I had entirely too much fun playing UT99 last time. -
My wife and I just got 32GB iPod Touches for ourselves, and want to know what the best apps are. We're especially interested in FREE stuff to download, but go ahead and throw out stuff to pay for also. Currently, we have Skype (the main reason to get them, actually), Facebook, Pandora Radio, and Google Earth. What else do we have to have to get the fullest use out of our new toys?

Orbs stacking help split shot a TON. Whispering Helm + Shieldbreaker (or Frost if you're superfarmed) is huge on split shot / Moon Queen glaive. Not saying you shouldn't get stats early, but split shot is better in HoN than it was in DotA, period. As an aside, this is also the reason that Hack&Slash isn't a _complete_ joke (though for cost-effectiveness it's still stupid as hell), though I have been told that they are getting reworked soon, which they need very badly.

I am getting a GTX 260 in a couple days, and will be devouring this game then -- it's currently running too slowly to really immerse me. Can't wait to get back into it though!

T-shirt size: Adult Large Music: Anything classical is fine and I don't own enough of it (no Mozart though please ). If you'd like to help OCR artists out instead, that's just fine -- be aware that I have sgx's Hero of the Grey Area, and all of the Aversa's music except Mass Media Constant. Games: I own a 360 and a Wii, in addition to a fairly good gaming PC. I'd love to get Wii Points, though MS Points are fine also (and will be happily put to good use). The "big" games of the season I have no plans to acquire in the immediate future but want anyway are Borderlands and Assassin's Creed II, both for 360. The only Wii game I really want at the moment that I don't already own is Muramasa: The Demon Blade -- it'd be totally badass if somebody mailed me this. Movies: We just bought "Up", but any of the other big releases (especially Star Trek) would be great. DVD only, as we have no Blu-ray player. Seasons of Stargate SG-1 would also be very welcome. Books: I'd like to get "Empire" by Orson Scott Card sometime, as well as The Ghost King, by RA Salvatore. Actually, except for "The Orc King" and "The Pirate King", I don't own any of the Drizzt novels past the original 13 (in the "Legend of Drizzt" series, which I own all of). Anything that's quality along fantasy / science fiction lines is welcome though (I own all of Weis/Hickman's Dragonlance series though, so be aware).

Thanksgiving weekend Luke -- I just got home and won't play until tomorrow. I should be getting a GTX 260 very soon though, which means that you'll lose me to Dragon Age. I heard that towers don't target skeletons -- is that true? Also, the crazy range on the ult seems to mean that you could stand 600 range behind a tower in complete safety, and still stop a 5-man push by yourself. Still am yet to play either new hero though...

Pezman, if you haven't played any of the "Super Solvers" series for Win 3.1 and Win95, I'd encourage you to take a look at them, as IMO they have some of the best balance between "educational" and "game" -- especially Ancient Empires, which was a fully fledged action title. The other "educational" thing I noticed from games is that many (though certainly not all) of the plants and flowers from The Elder Scrolls games resemble their real-life counterparts. My inlaws garden quite a bit, and as nerdy as it sounds, I was actually able to follow some conversations I wouldn't have otherwise thanks to Oblivion. Personally, I'm all for learning real-life things in video games, though making education the only focus of the game at the expense of gameplay (Carmen Sandiego, etc) isn't the right path to pursue outside of a classroom setting.

WHAT Two new heroes? What the hell am I doing at my inlaws?
-
hahahahaha, this will never get old for some reason.
-
wow, ouch. Games that drop are really terrible for exactly that reason -- especially when you invest more than an hour of your time into it.
-
haha, fair enough. I have a question for people better than me: Assuming that you're playing a character who will eventually get either Shaman's Headdress or Heart, why is HotBL such a bad idea? The parts can be disassembled in the stash -- if you get one of those items above you mitigate the cost by almost 1000, and help yourself out a TON earlygame. I'm especially seeing it viable for people who plan on going Heart lategame, as Heart + lifetube regen (which can be built into Sustainer --> Runed Axe later) is a good thing. Thoughts? Edit: One exception I've thought of is devourer, where he has to rush shaman's as fast as he can.

Let's use another game as an example -- Pyros who only snipe with the Flare Gun are not helping their team out at all, for instance. Get out that flamethrower now and then to do what you're good at!

Teen Agent: The Root of All Evil - History
BardicKnowledge replied to Brandon Strader's topic in Projects
I've been playing catchup on my track for a long while now, and am sad to report that I just don't have the time to get it done. My graduate application required a lot more work than I thought it would when I agreed to take a crack at it. Incidentally, said paperwork (and my car's transmission going out, and tons of other real-life crap) is why I haven't been in #ocremix for around two weeks. Sorry to everyone involved, especially Oinkness who was very supportive and patient. I do have a 35 second WIP string-quartet done, and would be happy to share everything related to it if anyone would like to take it on. -
Sorry for double post, but this info is worth it. Someone asked me what the conditions were for a hero getting credit for your side's tower/creep kills. The answer:

Is there a link for that zero? How do we observe?

Worldplay Research Institute Survey
BardicKnowledge replied to hitsuzen's topic in General Discussion
Survey done -- good luck! -
I don't recognize it as being from a numbered FF game. Sorry! It could be from Mystic Quest, the Tactics series, etc -- but it's not from the main series.

Scout's disarm is really, really good at a sufficiently high attack speed. Makes sense to nerf it IMO. However, eyes to kill neutrals seems legit to me, as you give up runespot eyes for the privilege, and probably won't have a spare eye for teamfights either. Especially considering that wards (and tree eyes!) still block neutrals this makes no sense.
-
Absolutely hilarious. Also, anything "churchy" music-wise that doesn't include pipe organ is a failure IMO, so no Guitar Praise (i hate praise worship) for me.

Regen rings are the 350 cost items that add +2 regen. Two of them (or one lifetube) are needed for the shaman's headdress recipe. Edit: Yes, shield + 2 rings takes up 3 slots, but lategame your shaman's only uses one, and you won't have enough items flying around to take up your whole inventory before then anyway (especially assuming that you bring yourself the extra 2 parts for upgraded boots on a courier, or in a stash). Very lategame, you can sell back your stout shield to make room for the last inventory space.
-
Zircon, you haven't really made a good case for Tensei/my main point against HotBL in the first place -- that it sucks for anyone who isn't Legion (or MAYBE Zephyr). Why would you ever take HotBL over Stout Shield + 2 regen rings --> hood? Assuming we're jungling as one of those two, you can START with shield + one regen, and get Logger's Axe less than two minutes into a game.

I'm in, PM'd baha already.
