For those local folks, said theater is Ronnie's, the Wehrenberg theater. In any case, I leaving for STL tomorrow morning -- reach me via cell phone if people need to reach me for some reason.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver
BardicKnowledge replied to Dopple Boppler's topic in General Discussion
On the IV/EV subject, it's the main thing that kept me relatively turned off to Pokemon (though you guys did motivate me to play through Platinum). Too much work for too little ingame reward outside of online battling. I'd like to see more depth added to the single-player experience (where EV/IV training is basically not important at all). -
Looked into the mini-golf course in Fenton, which apparently has THREE courses now, and a "huge 80+ game arcade." Sounds like our type of place

Happy birthday zircon! Any special plans? edit: Didn't think you were more than a year younger than me, haha.
-
Union Station has things to do while we wait for people, while the zoo sucks and is hot. Forgot about SAFT though -- that's probably the better idea. Good mini-golf there, and Beatmania / DDR.
-
Eulogic, I hate it as well Also, would people be up for minigolf somewhere? I'm on the east side of the river, and know of good places in Collinsville and O'Fallon.
-
City Museum isn't a bad idea -- the Science Center is free to tool around in also. Would people be up for the Budweiser brewery tour? EDIT: Union Station mall would be a decent spot to originally meet up, also. Six Flags is kind of out of the way, expensive, and weather-dependent. I don't think I'd be that excited about it, but could be convinced..

Happy father's day everyone! As for my dad, I'm visiting him next weekend, and my brother and I are buying him a year of Live for his 360.
-
Thanks -- I knew I missed a couple. And for covering fps stuff, even though I'm mouse-bound for life.
-
The 360 experience IMO is all about the multiplayer -- you're really missing out. However, a short list for you. Assassin's Creed Mass Effect, though an RPG, features real-time combat that you may enjoy. Bioshock Prince of Persia Ninja Gaiden II (the first is downloadable via Marketplace, and is even better) Bionic Commando: Rearmed Braid And that's it for solo games. If you decide to get a Gold subscription: Street Fighter II HDR '' '' IV Soul Calibur IV Bionic Commando (lengthy single-player campaign also) GripShift Age of Booty Bomberman Live 1vs100 (free trivia show for Gold members) (any FPS games, but you may prefer them on PC anyway)

Arnold Morrison does some excellent arrangements: http://www.finalfantasymusicscores.com I highly recommend importing the "Piano Collections" books also -- I have the ones for Final Fantasy X and Chrono Trigger, and they're excellent (especially FFX).

The encounter rate is too high to make for a good introduction to the genre (think the 8-bit Dragon Warrior games) -- but it feels great in all other aspects. Best new feature: people have different conversations with you based on who is the party leader. Not one shopkeeper (ff6), but almost everyone. One issue that people should know about: The game has crashed on my twice. Once while putting in headphones on the title screen, and once upon triggering a scripted event ingame.

Are there any games you guys play over and over again?
BardicKnowledge replied to atmuh's topic in General Discussion
SF2 HDRemix, but SF2 in general -- in some ways it will never be outdone. Ninja Gaiden Black -- this is the best action game of its generation, and very few games can argue that they're superior still. -
I'm good for the 27th-28th, and will be visiting STL then regardless of meetup -- my parents live in St. Louis, and we'll be down that weekend.

Straight no Chaser -- good stuff DJ Mighty.

I've enjoyed reading this thread, and will take on an analysis of my own soon. At the moment, I'd like to put forward that Finale Notepad 2008 is free for those of you that don't have it. It (or Sibelius, but AFAIK there's no free version) will help people throw up some sheet music without getting out MSPaint. Incidentally, I'm reserving the Startropics main battle theme for this topic

Classic gaming night: UT1 Strangelove
BardicKnowledge replied to FireSlash's topic in General Discussion
I could play. Do we need a link for the UT99 mod, or just connecting to your server will do the job?
