  1. A pretty good piece. The part with Relms theme is most certainly the best, THAT is where the remix shines. Stragos theme, however...I think ruins it. I'd much rather have had this all relm than some relm and some strago. Oh well. Still pretty good and recommended for anyone who like arabic sounding stuff and fans of instrumental remixes.
  2. Hrm... First thing I notice is that its too repetetive. By far. The samples are pretty good, yes, but it sounds like a twenty second loop with little variation throughout. Using the sound effects in time was...well, I think it could have been pulled off a lot better because if Im honest, it got very VERY annoying after a couple of bars. Im also not overly keen on the abrupt ending, though I like what you did with it...with the game over theme and all.
  3. Im not a huge fan of the constant whistling in the background... The whole thing for me kicks off when Cids theme kicks in...even though its transposed and mostly adlibbed, I really like it. Sadly, though, the rest of it is kinda...blah. Its not a bad track by any means...it just doesnt jump out at me and impress me.
  4. Its a pretty good interpretation. I like the way the whole melody has been put off-beat, thats pretty good. I dont like it when it fades to just the melody and drums, it sounds...lacking (I cant give you an exact time sorry, cause Im at college and they only allow streaming not downloading) About 3 quaters of the way through when the second melody kicks in..thats the bit that does it for me, thats the one that made me think "Hey...this ones worth keeping" But then the ending...hmm... Im not hugely keen on that, sorry, though I DO like the idea behind it. Overall... Id recommend it to fans of the game, but its probably not everyones cup of earl.
  5. The first thing I notice is that its an arangment of "Wanderer of Time" from the FF:Pray CD, simply with an oboe like instrument replacing the singing (though Wanderer of Time was Terras theme, so no beef there) The piece is okay... I cant really think of any ways to improve it, but it just didnt really make me sit up and go "WOW!" or anything... But Id still recommend it for anyone looking for a chillout-y piece
  6. I didnt say you did, sir. Simply used one of the soundfonts. ooh .. sorry ... ... no ... I didnt. it was all done in reason 1.0. I hope I dont sound offending cause I am not trying to be, I just thought you might want to know. No probs...just the melody is played on the default FL soundfont "Crystal". But then its a common soundfont so Im pretty sure ther progs have it.
  7. I didnt say you did, sir. Simply used one of the soundfonts.
  8. Its okay...but not fantastic. I dont like the mood this piece has...it seems more kinda dark and dismal and hopeless, which isn't what the original had, though I dont supose this really matters on here so... The piano sample irritates me..I dont know why, but it just sounds 'off'. The snare sample is kinda dry and MIDI-like (though the Timpani sample is pretty sharp) I dont like the choirs used either...they seem a little off-key and I dont like the abrupt start-stop thing they've got going on. I'd have liked see more of the guitar, personally. I dont like the way it only played a few notes repeatedly during certain parts then was ignored (perhaps swapping the piano and guitar over could have worked) Overall...Im divided. Its not terrible...but then again its not fantastic either.
  9. Its a really beautiful piece, it must be said. I'd say it brought a tear to my eye...except that it didnt, but ONLY because Im in college right now...had I been at home then the tear would be in my eye I like the sharpness and quality of the piano sampling and really wish I could mic mine so well The first introduction of the strings was too subtle for my liking...they sounded like just something going on behind me that kinda irritated me a little. But when they actually become properly audible, they were as beautiful as the rest of the track. ¿My only query is that wasnt something strikingly similar to this on the OST? That or the piano collections CD, but I *know* I have something that sounds so much like this on one of my CD's already.
  10. I thought I posted here...but I guess I didnt so here we go... Im not overly keen on the electric piano sample used. It doesnt ruin the mood or anything, it just...doent sound right to me or something. I'd have preferred an actual piano, but whats done is done (and its not like it makes it an apalling tack or anything) The piece however, is amazingly beautiful... I had actually heard a Nay many times before this piece, but this is the only time it really sounded this good... I also like the sine wave that plays after the Nay...thats just beautiful The only real problem with it is the sharp cut-off...I would have preferred a fadeout or if possible some form of improvised finish. I highly recommend this track to anyone, not just the fans of silent hill...its just brilliant.
  11. After reading the reviews I feel rather like I do at an art gallery... Everybody praising something for being bold and daring when I seem to be the only one who sees it as a random mish-mash of nothing in particular that shouldnt be placed anywhere but inside a large furnace. It sounds like it could be pretty good...and indeed it IS pretty good... until the three notes on the trumpets play and the whole thing just goes down the pan... The drum loop hurts my brain. The jumping form various soundfonts are just painful, as is the scratching. Random sound effects, shrieking and voice loops that have nothing to do with anything are always fun Capped all off with insanley loud shrieky samples which sound like nothing but speaker feedback and the whole thing goes from 'sucks' to 'blows' in one fell swoop. Seriously, this just sounds like something a deaf 6 year old would make in EJay and just....GAH its just so bad... To quote a famous literary line... Ten out of ten for trying to break the cliché but minus several million for being a good remix.
  12. Its pretty good... I think the beginning sounds like youre wandering in part way through the remix though, no proper introduction. Its also a little repetetive for my liking...I think that good as it is, it should have been shorter. I do, however like the part where in game sound effects are used as precussion, I thought that adds a nice bit of flare to it and wish it was used more... So all in all its pretty good. Not mindblowingly amazing, but also not appalingly bad. Nice work
  13. I like this one, yes The ambience it gives off means its good for breaking a mix down into something more chillouty or something so its good on that front. The only major gripe I have with this is I didnt like the use of a default fruityloops soundfont... But then, thats no real reason to hate a track outright, it just kinda spoiled it. I dont have any problems with the length for some reason...people are saying its too short, but I think its fine.
  14. More of the same from me... I really like the track...the synths and stuff are good, yes indeed. However, like most everyone else, the intro kinda spoils it (especially being so hard to cut out without COMPLETLEY ruining the track) I also think the drums could have done with a little variation... how this could be achieved exactly I dont know, but after a while the thump-thump-thump kinda gets annoying. also the ending is kinda bad...Im not entirley sure how this thing could end, but the abrupt stop with the echoed 'happy birthday' is just...no. I must say, though, when I played in a set, the people really liked it...so you can certainly dance to this one and not have any major prollems with it that way...
  15. *copy-paste* Brilliant from the off....another fantastic chillout mix. Im not over-keen on the tinkling/smashing at the beginning, but thats not to say I hate it either. 4:03 is a little BAM! And could shock you... But overall its brilliant.
  16. When I saw this I wondered how on earth a 2 bar long tune could take up 6 minutes. To be honest, the base tune kinda got on my nerves...even by the time the background stuff came in at 2:14 it was irritating (¿was that something new or did I always quit the loading screen to early to hear it?) Anyhow, the samples are well chosen, although the cymbal flurry at about 3:00 didnt really work for me (and perhaps its my duff speakers talking here, but the sample didnt sound too hot) Also at 3:00 when the other tune came in...I didnt really like the start-stop effect it had, although to my recollection, thats how the .ym sounded in the first place... That said, at about 4:00 when everything came together, it sounded good, I liked it (though again, I didnt really like how the cymbal sounded) And again...at 5:05, another cymbal flurry... And it had a bit of an anticlimactic ending. Just a dead stop and the 'robocop' sample...though I dont know how you could have properly finished it, save for a fadeout (and again, if I recall, the dead stop is what the original did on the 464 when you started a game) Despite this...it kept my head bobbing and my feet tapping throughout. Despite the things I mentioned here, I definitley recommend everyone listen to it.
  17. The original game boy sounds are well used. I also like the tetris noises as 'precussion' at the piano part, that's a nice fresh take.
  18. wonderfu. Just wonderful. But I think the triangle could do with being a bit quieter/gone But then...the rest of the remix is so wonderful.....
  19. YAY FF IV BOSS! Everything's been done so well in this the transitions are smooth, the samples are great (a little something for everyone) and all in all it's brilliant. Well worth the download.
  20. The melody at the beginning (reminded me of a bubble) was alright but occasionaly it sounded a little too....loud and shrieky. Nevertheless the vocals are very good and I like the idea of having them as a monologue instead of sung (plus Dani sounds more or less how I imagined Julia)
  21. The first thing I noticed is that the strings in the background sound a lot like those in the James Bond theme. The second thing I noticed is that the melody (the C64 sounding thing) didn't play as big a part as perhaps it could've done. But still, it's certainly worth the download, definitely.
  22. This is just an amazing remix (if a little short) For DJ's: It's good to start a mix with. For everyone else: It's good. Period.
  23. When all's said and done, you cant beat a good symphonic remix. This is just amazing, it really is.
  24. I really like this! The flute is just beautiful and I especially like the stereo effects in the drum break at 1:44 - 1:56.
  25. -edit- Its grown on me. Its original and its good if you like rap.
