  1. Well, the thing I was worried about when I started deadlifts happened this morning... I threw out my back doing them. I normally don't exercise in the morning, I skipped my last day though and was trying to make it up quickly before work. Big mistake. Not the worst bad back I've had, but this is the first time this has happened.
  2. nah, it really started thousands of years ago when some people found out they could acquire more imaginary currency then their neighbors and transform it into power over others.
  3. It needs to be something alliterative. This thread is a stealth request for track titles, really. @Timeaus: There are a few bits and bobs that I'm not happy about, but I haven't touched this project in so long I would rather move forward and start on a new orchestral track. Once I mentally close the book on a mix it's very hard for me to want to revisit it. If the trumpet triplet is what I think you're referring to, yeah, that makes me cringe a bit. Needed to be more connected.
  4. Did this well over a year ago, it was supposed to be for the apparently-dead DK64 project. It's finished, I just don't have a name, because SOMEONE took the obvious name already. Once I learned that a part of me died. It's a genre that I want to do much more: orchestral. If I ever get off my lazy ass and do anything... Yet unnamed DK Isle remix
  5. Happy past birthday dude.
  6. Must I? Must I?
  7. Some things that stand out to me, without reading the judges thread. - String attacks are quite slow and fall behind the beat. - Horns sound kinda fake, I think it's the sharp attacks or something. - Mixing overall could be sharper and cleaner. Drum kit is a little muddy. - A single rhythm guitar part panned centered doesn't sound nearly as good as double-tracked parts panned L and R. It sounds like your guitar is doing both lead and rhythm duty. It's ok to have the lead part center, consider making a doubletracked rhythm part. - The rock elements don't feel as energetic as they should. Getting fuller rhythm guitars would definitely help. - Some parts of the sequenced guitar sound cool and fairly realistic, other parts seem choppy and unrealistic.
  8. The guitar sounds ok to me, and the bass sound might be a little off but it's not the worst. The drums sound extremely muffled though, practically no top end in the mix at all. There's nothing providing sizzle or sparkle. Yeah, the drum sound makes or breaks a rock mix.
  9. I started with weighted pullups this week, only 5 lbs to start with. This is one of the things that did me in last year and set me way back, but I feel stronger and more conditioned this time around, with a steady progressive routine that I didn't have last time.
  10. I get sore when I start a completely new movement, but adding weights or reps from week to week usually doesn't make me sore.
  11. Well at least you're half honest.
  12. yeah this is definitely going on my OCR playlist. Can never have too much Dark World, and this one is nicely done.
  13. Of course, you have freedom and liberty to criticize her views any way you want. I happen to think that her bringing this issue into the public debate has a net positive effect, even if her motives or methods are suspect.
  14. If the raving nutbags in the gaming community hadn't made Anita an international name she would be making kickstarter-funded videos for her core audience, would be unknown to the population at large and we wouldn't have a 153 page thread. And you know what, social progress is extremely messy and sometimes we don't always like the advocates for it.
  15. I never do it very often, tbh. Once in awhile I'll repitch a snare or hi-hat, but not to get it in tune with the song.
  16. I think Zircon started the musics a little before I did, and even back in the day I could tell he was very talented and VERY ambitious. That's a winning combination if you want to work in this field, and he's seen plenty of success for it.
  17. Oooh, I have loved the Oud in EastWest Ra for years, ever since I got that library. One of my favorite plucked instruments to use. I... I feel the need to give you more of my money.
  18. Sorry to hear that. I'm like 90% better from mine, finally getting to the point where I feel like I'm not going to fuck up my shoulder by doing dips and pullups and weighty stuff. My ankles are still problematic, I think twisting them last year gave me arthritis or summit.
  19. But... wouldn't 2 weeks put us almost at Halloween? So the next one will mostly go past Halloween. This would've been the one to make a Halloween theme.
  20. I wasn't really sold for the first 1:30, but when the bassline comes in I think you have a good idea happening. You have to find a way to break out of the repetitive loop structure by writing new parts, changing up the instrumentation, adding more automation and flourishes... stuff like that.
  21. I wasn't sure if I should do this, given that two other mod d00ds posted first.
  22. I am definitely sore from deadlifts on Monday. particularly in my legs which I usually neglect, but also in the back. that's ok with me, means it's working a lot of things that I usually don't.
  23. If you need to crank out score for some paid project, probably the more of those loop and phrase libraries you have the better.
  24. I love the FTL soundtrack. I can definitely hear some of that here. Nice.
