We've seen reboots, we've seen downloadables. Not sure what's going to happen here. If this is going to be a Triple-A title which it does look like by the trailer we can only hope the gameplay is good. The story looks compelling but this is a wait and see game.

Brighter Music, Brighter Soundtracks, Happier Stuff! x_x
Hyperion5182 replied to markhansavon's topic in General Discussion
Well since you have the floor that wide open. I dont know about happy but one thing that just gets me in the mood for shooting the hell out of stuff is: Sticking with Anime. Soriao Days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7Wohpd8TxE Both of these i liked so much i bought the MP3 of. Going Oldschool VGM Vampire Hunter Dan did a good job with Locke's theme. It should be on the website somewhere i forget the exact number Jared Hudson's 'The Frontier' Is also a damned good one. Trenthian's Crystal Sermon fits into what you're looking for i think as well. -

I only need to refer to the opening Theme of FF12 as evidence of this man's audiological superiority. Good luck everyone! -

Depends on what you want to do. If you're talking about actually designing games. Yeah the above post is dead on the money. After doing my own work i've come to like 3-d animation and graphics development. I dont have the artistic tallent that some have in that field but i love the 3-D modeling i'm working with. If you want to work for a gaming company, pick a field and shoot for it.

Jared Hudson if you're a long time listener is one of the best to ever grace this site. His work is legendary. But he dropped off the OC remix scene a while ago. Well i went through reviews bored before i left for class and found one he'd left a comment on. It had his sig and a link on it. Gents. The link is live, and VERY current http://jaredhudson.com/ BRING HIM BACK OCR!!

Grammys to recognize video game music
Hyperion5182 replied to Xenon Odyssey's topic in General Discussion
Hot Damn. People are finally getting the message that the real talent is in VGM. Save a few things. I find most modern music today to be trash. Where music doesnt suck? Movie Soundtracks (Some movies not all) and Video Games. (Nickleback for a time gave me some hope but then they tanked.) Video Game soundtracks have given me hope that good real music still exists in the world. Its long overdue for this group to recognize the talent and quality of this music. Here's to Pixietricks's first Grammy and to many more to come. -
Bayonetta. It's not quite as direct as some of the other games but that one in particular has a strong connection to the music of it and really influences the course of the game in my opinion. If you're opening the scope to production value and how it aids games KOTOR 1 Final Fantasy Franchise. (Examine every one of them) Half-Life 2. Now wait wait i said that? Yes i did. It doesnt have the constant ingame music most come to expect. But you know it when its playing and you know it throughout the entire game. Its subtle and its impact is understated in my opinion. Mass Effect Series: The Score of both of these games have helped make the game. In the first one you can tell the patriotic tones and your loyalty to the alliance+citadel is aided it carries you. In the second you explore the darker side of the galaxy in your travels, to this day the revealing of the SR-2 may well be one of the single greatest pieces of music I've heard in a video game. If you examine MMO's there are three in particular you want to look at. Anarchy Online, EVE Online, and now RIFT. Its not just scores i'm looking at here its how the music is used. AO has some insane scores that are almost never heard because of the situation required to trigger them. EVE Online has a music path that really works in the opening stages. Plus it now uses a jukebox to mix with your own music. Rift i'll let you experience for yourself. Anyway that's my Two C-Bills.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG! Rift is that MMO. The UI is similar to WoW but standard to most fantasy games that's probably the biggest similarity. Adaptive content based on playercount on servers. For all intents and purposes practical on-demand content in the Rift concept it runs. The crafting system rivals drops and high end gear in all aspects and combat wise i find a lot more interesting than others i've played. Have fun with this game. I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Been in since 5th beta However the ad was NOT just targeting WoW: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fires_of_Azeroth This is the ORIGINAL Azeroth. A foundation on which most of the fantasy games have been rooted in. A lot of the general concepts here got thrown out the window. Btw: Blizzard fears this game. Blizzard tried to buy up advertising spots to prevent Rift from getting them. Rift beat them to the punch.

OCRA-0023 - Pokémon: The Missingno Tracks
Hyperion5182 replied to The Damned's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
.... This is a kill me now moment. I'm sorry anything that in any way even unintentionally backs 4kids entertainment's diasterous anime butchering ticks me off. I'm not going to download this. I do not play the games i do not watch the show. I'm doing my best to not flame OCR because of its incredible standards and how its maintained them for so long but I can do nothing but *headdesk* when i see this. I do not mean for this to turn into a completely different conversation but seriously OCR? Did this have to be done? -
My main thing is that instead of doing 13-2 they should be DLC'ing like crazy. Storyline left enough room there's a lot they could do with after the finale. Overall my personal experience. It was far easier to follow than 12 was. It was better than 10 and some of the moments if you didn't try to compare were pretty strong. I get why people rage on where the series has gone especially with X and X-2 but there isn't much that can be done about it. Having had my own foray into Game Development i have a new respect for the mayhem of this kind of enviroment. If they're gonna do 13-2 It'll should take place Post 13 which is going to mean a return to a real open world format. It might also require FF13 save data (I'm tryin to avoid spoilers. Those who have beaten it know exactly what i'm talking about) I get why people are raging. But take a moment and think on the premise they'll be using.

The only kind of song i can think of that qualifies would be Super Buck Jazz. That's Old school swing style big club band Jazz and something that still gets my foot tapping even today. There is a huge difference between Big Band and Orchestra

Monitor Questions (was: Hey for you top end guys)
Hyperion5182 replied to Hyperion5182's topic in General Discussion
The trick with that will be keeping the games properly setup. Multimonitoring was partly considered because i wanted one monitor for chat and one for gaming. But its still something i have to mull over. -
Monitor Questions (was: Hey for you top end guys)
Hyperion5182 replied to Hyperion5182's topic in General Discussion
I have the worst cooling in the house. And my window wont take a current air conditioner. (its 4 feet wide...) I must have my main door closed or the cat runs around wild in here. I love the bugger but i do NOT want that. Even with the door open it doesn't exactly get a fair shake. My room gets to boiling temps even with a fan in the window. The fan that sits on my desk in the summer cools me off and keeps air moving in general. My PC handles the heat like champ but i get no AC. The mount is a bit of an extreme thing but by the dimensions maybe not impossible. If i had better cooling options i could take the fan off the window get a few braces and mount some wood to stabalize the second shelf. But i dont have that option right now. -
Monitor Questions (was: Hey for you top end guys)
Hyperion5182 replied to Hyperion5182's topic in General Discussion
Cant do that. I have a massive window in the center of the room Mounting those is almost impossible with out extreme modifications Something i really dont want to have to do. I'm hoping to find something i can use without extreme modifications or having to completely redesign the room. -
Rigs like you remixers work with probably have a lot of bells and whistles. Multi monitoring and such. I'm looking to upgrade from 1 19 inch to either a pair of one 19 and one 24 maybe 23 depending on the monitor. The problem i have is desk space. I need a fan up on the desk to keep the air moving in the summer when it gets very hot. i have about a 5*5 square to work with but as i look for desks online i'm not finding a lot of multi monitoring and the L shaped desks are pretty large. If someone has a suggestion i'd appreciate it as i prepare to upgrade my current gaming zone.

Final Fantasy: Type-O (wtf is it thread)
Hyperion5182 replied to Brandon Strader's topic in General Discussion
I gotta agree. I mean in terms of overall game girls which could be debated till doomsday she's top 5 all time. 12 was cool but the story was a bit convoluted and the MMO style fighting wasn't quite what i was hoping for. Overall i enjoyed it but square needs to go back to move forward. They need to get some american story guys on these crews and get some debate going to make it work. Hopefully 15 will be worth owning. -
Drop Eowyn for Legolas and you have a lineup that'd be hellish. As much as i'd love to see them add Gimli they learned that lesson with Yoda. (who got banned in multiplayer tournaments) Who might have been the single most broken SC character EVER. The questions for Gandalf and Sauron would be how much of their spellbooks would be in play. I cant see much being viable. If it were me i'd do Aragorn, Witchking, Legolas, and the Uruk Leader from two towers.

Dead on the money. Thankfully its us driving the market to no small extent and force the industry to create gaming masterpieces. KOTOR Mass Effect Left 4 Dead 2 Half-life 2 Team Fortress 2 there is a consistent level of high quallity games out there that make us look at the past with a bit of...disappointment i think is the best word. FF7 is the most clamored after remake for a reason. I feel the need to add this in general. The next year of gaming is filled with titles that are going to be worth buying on launch This is only a sample. ME3 Portal 2 Homeland actually is beginning to look sick in multiplayer Warhammer 40k Space Marine. (DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS ONE!) Deus Ex: Human Evolution This doesnt include the stacked MMO lineup which is going to have the fiercest competition in a decade. SW:TOR The Agency DC universe EVE: Incarna. (Current estimates suggest this will be the summer/spring rollout) Expect something out of WoW as well. There are two announcements from Valve still in the bag of tricks that are going to have a huge effect on next year. Solid money is on one of them dealing with the unfinished Half Life franchise.
-
Yep. And i'll tell you what. That got me JACKED to buy homefront. I've been looking for a modern setting FPS that was actually GOOD. This is looking like it. I wanted Deus Ex already because i love that series and its been too goddamned long. I just saw the 40k trailer for space marine...and god was i worried about that game. Being a 40k player and knowing the lore knowing the game as i do i was scared as hell that after the warhammer MMO this could go to shit. No longer. If anything that game showed me EXACTLY what i wanted to see. And the portal 2 co-op trailer!? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWN DURING THE VGA'S! May they live up to the trailers.
-
First one is Portal 2 which made a trailer at this sham. I was hoping they'd use tonight as their second. They may be waiting for the new year or even later for the other two now.
-
The announcements were the only thing i cared about. After Harris somehow beat Sheen for Voice acting the rest of the night was a joke to me. The part that sucked was the lack of valve announcement. Which means they still have two big hammers to drop over the next 9-10 months...
