So I got Persona 4 in the mail...
Schwaltzvald replied to Schwaltzvald's topic in General Discussion
Okay so... PS4 pulled a Tartarus... While it seems that the dungeons are of course in different locations within the "otherside", said dungeons tend to warp their mappings. Basically you can't really map them out on a grid if u wanted to as it will change, except in specific areas; such as during my first major excursion. Not to mention the chests started reminding of Secret of Mana/SD3 in the sense that they can either offer goodies or critically hit me in the nads; like stealing away my already meager "Soul Points". From what I've faced, the monsters are, for some reason, not only similar to the ones in PS3:FES but perhaps more difficult as they can call reinforcements, or after one set have been destroyed another wave may rush in. I suppose that's dependant on your skill level or perhaps surroundings..? Overall, I'm enjoying it alot, just very different especially with the differences I've mentioned as well as the TV Static Motif;especially when entering the "Otherside" the weird transfer from one reality to the next is somewhat hypnotic. -

In terms of Persona 3 FES, I found myself wanting to fight as often as I can without wearing out whomever is on my team too much; mainly because considering what my choices were, I felt more confident with my choices so long as I was strong enough. Plus I enjoyed that particular fight. -

I'd actually have to agree with him, though I was not sure if he had already tried one of the older titles and just wanted an opinion on the more current titles... They really need to remake "Persona: Revelations" along with "Persona 2: Innocent Sin" and P: Eternal Punishment" re-releasing it here... -

I thought about that and IMO there's no real difference except for perhaps game play. When I say game play, there are some things that are missing in Persona 3/FES that are in Persona 4, such as the option to have total control of your party. IMO I'd say start off with PS3/FES then PS4 if only because there are some improvements in PS4 that may make their absense in PS3/FES put you off. Doing it backwards may push some players away since in PS3/FES you only control the main character where as the AI controls ur party members; though ometimes it's quite good and even makes choices you personally wouldn't have thought and works wonderfully. all up to you. Story wise, I've not seen any real connection between the two except that it seems both take place in the same universe along with Igor and his assistant. I've not seen any mentions between the events in PS3/FES and PS4 just yet as I've just started. Plus I avoided all spoiler info on PS4 so I could be wrong.. IMO - Go with FES first then PS4 Edit - I actually liked the randomness of the dungeons as it usually kept things fresh for me, with the exception of the textures. That's usually overlooked though considering the small side quests you'd get from Elizabeth as well as wanting to work on getting better Persona's. But that's just me. -
Yesterday as I was coming home from work (preordered with artbook and music cd). Little while later I popped the disc in and was pleasantly surprised. While I enjoyed Persona 3/FES and its rather dark path, Persona 4's rather bright colored take is refreshing. The music seems more varied, though the Velvet Room theme is still present, also imo still enjoyable. Didn't get far though as I started to play it late night. But from what little I have played, been rather enjoyable. From what I gather, the situation as it seems is not as bleak as PS3/FES was, but all the same very troubling for humanity. There also seems to have more factors and conditions that affect combat itself; not to mention this time around I can have total control of my entire party if I choose to. Play it ala PS3/FES with ai deciding on move or I can choose to. I will say I missed the way Personas are summoned, as it seemed that without some aid of a tool or drug, that just about ANY one can summon their Persona. Though it does remind me of the "Persona: Revelations" way that the main characters summoned them. Will post more soon as I get further in.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

It's just that L4D reaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyyy neeeeeeeeeeeeddddddssssss more campaigns/versus maps. Much more. Other wise it's still fun; at least till the griefers start joining in... -
One of the best moments I've had was on Blood Harvest. At that point right before we had to run through the damned cornfield a horde was coming upon us. Originally the plan had been that one of the members (Zoey) would run into it and set off the Horde swarming. Soon after the first wave had died off we looked back and saw something fly high into the air. We thought that it was a Hunter killed by the player using Zoey. We then ran through the cornfield and into the house ready to congratulate the Zoey player on doing an awesome job. Turns out that instead it was actually HER that was flying into the air ragdoll and all. "OH SHIT THAT WAS ACTUALLY HER FLYING HIGH WTF!?"

Reviewed Left 4 Dead and overall I felt he gave a fair assessment; gave me a few chuckles at least. Though the stories I have on L4D, I'll save them for that thread -
You're thinking of Star Wars Galaxies

Probably this..?

Good Job Snapple, way to be inviting to new guys trying to showcase their abilities. At the very least wait till it becomes very flagrant, if ever; which I doubt. Nonetheless, the performance was very good. Much like Snappleman the piano segment does stick out a bit for me and pretty much waters down the fun of the track. Other then that I'd say it's an awesome take on RM2 - Wily castle 1. As much as I love the track I'd like to see more from ya.

Aside from DJ Metal and your self TD, who else uses the sig as well as post very frequently...? All we need now is some copper wire stripped of its plastic coating along with a flamethrower to tell whether The Damned's assimilating other posters or not and purge the false ones. Edit: ewww trumped by Native Jovian

It is truly weird seeing it being used by someone else than "The Damned".

Well a quick brief search got me this - http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_13957.html (This is assuming you're referring to your nvidia card giving you issues) Roll back to XP, or replace the video card if it's not compatible or no drivers to make it compatible... -

Sums up my feelings, especially since I can't help but see her any more than Lana Lang on Smallville for now... She has beauty but is missing much needed muscle to fill in the roll of Chun Li as well... -
Thought this was pretty sweet when I saw it Now if only I can make a "Ninja Gaiden"-ish mini game in it... Also I think every one's pretty much seen this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw

And that's why I say it may be a possibility as well as used preferably in a unique situation. There could be things much worse than what we've seen. Who's to say what this particular outbreak hasn't affected besides humans? What about say a zoo infested or some modder paying homage to RE:2/3 by recreating a similar scenario in a large police station/HQ..? Again I'm just saying it can still work if done right; useful yet limited and fuel for it being the only unique fuel/ammo that requires searching such as those gas canisters or propane tanks being found scarce and scattered giving minimal amounts. It can be done and expand an already pretty good game.

Sometimes, it's just that one extra shell that buys the rest extra time to take up the slack while I reload or be forced to pistols. On the topic of weapons. I can see new content including perhaps unique weaponry and or situations that may call upon one user with it while the others cover said user. I'm talking about the flamethrower. I'm not saying that every one should get one and just hose down everything, I'm talking about unique to a situation weapon. Where you may need to use it to clear away some mutated humans having only half a body while the other half is some sticking substance. Ever see basketcase..? Have a large bunch of those buggers try to cover you head to toe. While you're still able to walk you'll die unless you get the littl fuckers off ya. In comes the flame thrower, quicker to get rid of said buggers as well as cheaper than wasting ammo on getting them all off a person. Works well as a crowd control weapon for any smaller, fast monstrosities. A lot can be added and done with the directer/AI for such extra content... Maybe even see Chthulu-based campaigns? Or what about ones based off the Tremors movies..? Left 4 Dead leaves so much opportunity so long as a mod community actually flourishes with it... Only reason this even came out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHHYx36Wis&feature=related Reminds me a lot more of Resident Evil 4, but still quite awesome.

Slowpoke here, finally installed it yesterday night. Pretty awesome just played a couple of the campaigns. Got killed once because I got seperated and the other time when I was trying to save someone before the boat took off. Failed and died with him. auto-shotty's great for crowd control but god damn is it annoying to reload it. Should have stuck with the pumpshotty instead. Name on steam - Gentz Weizer

Kinda like the obscure event where Oprah says "OVER 9000". Although I think hasn't truly died just yet... -
Happy Thanksgiving all, Gonna be looking forward to some of that apple & pumpkin pie that's for sure. Turkey's always good with some cornbread stuffing done well. As for Black Friday, meh, nothing that I'd want is on sale this time round. Besides... that PS3 really needs to start slashing it's price... For fucks sakes the xbox 360 is beating out the Wii's price by being $50 cheaper... Still though who knows what's going to happen.
