Thanks for the suggestions! I actually have a Wii as well so I've already had some titles on it. I haven't seen Resistance for the PC so I may try that along with LBP. Just got to wait till Saturday to go and get it, so any more thoughts, especially perspectives on titles on the console are welcomed! edit: For example I'm reading that Prince of Persia (latest one) is bombing sales wise... Is it worth considering..?

I'm also banking on the PS3 filling in that niche area where the Wii or the 360/PC rarely or ever fill in, such as the case with Valkyrie Chronicles and Disgaea 3. Plus I dislike the 360 on account of my PC can play the same titles it tend to have, and much better, where there are some I can't play or expect a PC port from the PS3 library... Also I'll have to agree on another earlier poster, most of the rpgs on the 360 did sucked... Maybe that's why I didn't stay too long with them on my friend's 360...

I haven't bought it yet, I'm trying to gather as much info as I can through various means. Oddly enough though I can't... seem to get into what rpgs exist on the 360. It's the damndest thing and I can't figure out why. Neither of the Fable titles (rented them on his oldxbox/360) held my interest. Mass effect didn't hold my interest, nor did blue odyssey. Most just seem easily forgotten to me. I don't count games like Oblivion/Bioshock/FO3 as they exist on the PC and have borrowed from friends and bought (mainly F03 for PC) I may just go with a rental for Dead-Space (assuming I get the PS3) and simply enjoy the option of Blueray Discs for now and just mooch off my friend's 360; which luckily he doesn't seem to mind for now. Man... aside from a few sleeper hits and good titles, the whoie console spectrum seems more underwhelming than Nintendo's prizes for registering games... I don't know whether to laugh or sigh hard... At least the PS2's chugging along fine... Any more thoughts are welcomed.

After a long, long looooooooooooong time of deliberating between the PS3 and 360, I decided to settle upon getting the PS3. Any suggestions on what games to take a look..? I've already considered Valkyrie Chronicles and Disgaea 3 (strategy junkie). I'm open to any and most suggestions except FPS; over the shoulder's fine considering RE5 caught my interest. The PC already fills the FPS niche quite nicely already though.

You're doing yourself a disservice imo...

Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Killer Mutant Snowman It's so bad the whole movie is up on youtube and no one even bothers to report it.

Don't forget cola with nuclear yet "mild" isotopes as an experimental drink.

Why is everyone so concerned with graphics?
Schwaltzvald replied to alt.slack's topic in General Discussion
How about not wanting to play around with tools or douche bags..? I know I wouldn't join a server if it had nothing by myg0t players (those were hilarious days) all the time; or even pretentious, myopic, ignoramuses who can comprehend the point that, "HEY WE ENJOYED ALL GAMES, BUT SOME OF US LIKE TO SEE NEWER/SOFTER-ON-THE-EYES GAMES!". Although I do go back to megaman 4, favorite of the series As stated before, if you wanted people to play with ya just set up a server/game and send invites. No need to flaunt your opinions just because they differ greatly with others. -
Just go back and reread you're posts, that should suffice. And this is also why I left TFC as well. Takes a looooooooooooooooooog time before a epiphany appears within the thoughts as such as alt.slacks.

TFC was awesome back in the day, played a mean spy and fun HWguy. I didnt care how many times the running gag of calling him HWGay stuck it was fun. I still play it from time to time, but some times I find my self going back to TF2 for one big reason. The fact that TF2 is more "accessible" to others than TFC, makes it more interesting. Think about it, every player that wants a challenge would usually go where the same kind of players would be. Normally TFC would be interesting because you'd be hardpressed to find a really good demoman there. In TF2, the game's polished enough where any one can have that same level of skill or perhaps even beyond if they're creative enough. I like how it's more accessible to others. This way nothing's truly the same, at least for me. The game play is not so different from TFC with the exception of no rea frag nades but that's fine. I rather play with those willing to put up a real good challenge with alot of people than some place with nothing but elitists who can't look ahead. And sadly that's all I've seen in the TFC area as time marched on. Thats why I've moved away from being a mean spy/medic in TFC to whatever I feel like in TF2. TL;DR - It all boils down to preference, both games are fun but who actually plays is another matter... - - - - - Another point A lot of games these days actually have good if not better game play than their predecessors. Heck Persona 4, if you break it down everything that's added to it, is really nothing more than an enhanced dungeon crawler of past games. Megaman X8, another fun title (imo), is nothing more than an enhanced megaman game. Game play ought to be the first priority when games are made, however there's absolutely nothing wrong when much better graphics, better controls, strong story/lines as well as even the possible multiplayer ability is added. Hell Painkiller is an example of a DOOM95 game incredibly tarted up in graphics and design that still has the classic gameplay of kill every god damn thing; much like the old DOOM collection... Once again... game play ought to be a priority, but nothing wrong with better graphics and the rest that's been added over the years. It's called evolution. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. That wild card aspect of games being made, whether it's awesome or shit, is the one thing that hasn't changed at all ever since pong came out...

Lately I've considered obscure music as, "music that you would NEVER hear on the radio"... That said the halloween one just made me want to bring out something a bit more lively, despite my love for classical stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTYFMpDX-8U&feature=channel OR THIS, WHICH BOTH FRUSTRATES ME and sometimes saddens me how restrictive radio can be if actually paid attention to... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSft5j7iSIc&feature=channel Sometimes find myself being thankful in finding the album... --- Yes I'm quite aware that most posters may recognize the origins of the tracks, however considering who the performers are, gives the tracks a new flair to my ears that the originals are enjoyable enough as they are to begin with. However rather than simply moan and groan I'd rather just spread the wealth of content. Already gave some coworkers who I managed to piqeu their interest some games. Now I just play the waiting game.... TL;DR... nothing is truly obscure these days, just either forgotten or smothered away by the easily accessable content... Unintentionally or not.

I'd have to agree... As for Yahtzee hating everything, that's not necessarily true. He's done reviews on games that he's managed to find something very likable, like his views on Painkiller, his Prince of Persia perspective, as well as STALKER: Clear Sky review and others. Heck he even enjoyed playing Mario Galaxy. I'd like to think people are drawn to him based simply on him being satirical with his reviews and most people being able to agree all the while avoiding the would be bullshit and fanboy faggotry that consistently rears it's ugly, acne riddled, greasy, unkept hair and bearded head that normal, opinionated posters often face today.

What about getting simply a mic headset that plugs in via usb..? I use a logitech headset that connects to a USB and it works just fine. Though I do use a soundcard mainly for the speakers when I'm not using the headset... This is just an example, you can probably find something like this much cheaper elsewhere... http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Premium-USB-Headset-980374-0403/dp/B0007SXHP0

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

I couldn't help but laugh throughout the whole dam review. -
I just hope these iphone games are just a hint of konami's creators needing some money padding to help jump start actual titles for the consoles/PCs... While the thought bothers me I'd rather not see more potentially good titles go to waste...
-
Go for Fallout 3, as the game is flexible enough for casual and dedicative players a like. I would also recommend the touhou games for the PC (assuming he has a PC) for some arcade shmups appeal. They're easy to pick up and play yet can also be very addictive as well as providing incredible challenges. Little Big Planet I can't really say, perhaps another good pick..? I can't really see a casual player sticking with it long without some strong direction seeing as how very open ended it is.. (going by video's I've seen as I don't have it myself)

god damn it what a waste of some potentially good titles... >:L

So I got Persona 4 in the mail...

Which also makes me grateful whenever one of my party members, in particularly Chie, offers to take one of the enemies and does the "Gigantic Punt" Just something about seeing a shadow get punted out of battle flying in the "Team Rocket" trademark exit makes worth seeing all the time. Especially if they're really troublesome... -
Seems to be Yahtzee approved http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/271-S-T-A-L-K-E-R-Clear-Sky

I just meant in terms that on returning to a dungeon the mapping is all different, much like Tartarus except for certain floors, also like Tartarus. I haven't even made a complaint upon the game And I actually enjoyed my time in Tartarus in PS3/FES on account of it reminding me of the old days but with a huge graphical facelift. Most of all it's a good game -
congratulations!
