  1. Zircon comes through again with another awesome tutorial to help us challenged mixers with finishing up our mixes. I personally need help with this stuff, so this is an awesome read. Now I don't have any excuses!
  2. My piano mixes come from just playing some piano pieces and messing with them. My sequenced mixes I usually see what hasn't been mixed to my liking and go from there.
  3. The first VG song I learned on piano was the Mario 64 water theme (dire dire docks). The melody is simple, and the bass line is just fifths. And prelude? It isn't all white keys, is it? I learned it in c, and once you go down to the g# m7th arpeggio it's nearly all black keys! Well, not to mention its a quick tune, almost like an exercise like cannon.
  4. That has got to use a TON of ram. The whole set is what, 32 gigs? So what is 128 instruments, not including drumsets, going to be in terms of ram?
  5. I just like how Xelebes mixed up da warez and da loot. Actually, I got into this stuff with pirating, but after window shopping around I chose Cubase and got it for Christmas. Then my dad and I made our studio, and got complete with it. My only wave editor is a cracked version of audition, (but I feel bad so I just use audacity for now), but version 2.0 has come out and looks nice, so I may want to go pick that up.
  6. If we are just talking software and instruments... Roland Fantom s88 Alesis Quadrasynnth 6.0 Ibanez bass Komplete 3 Cubase SL3 Stromdrum EWQLSO silver
  7. I like your new setup, comy. You just gotta have a keyboard at your fingertips! And debeerguy007 with the subwoofer at the head. Classic.
  8. I know, it was an awesome thread. It needed more love though. Ps post your video too.
  9. Yep, it's high time for a new one of these threads. With Christmas over, I wonder why analoq didn't make a new one, so I guess I'll start one. -Remember, more pics, less equipment lists- My studio: Includes: Argosy Console workspace, a p4, 2 gig of ram xp pro compy, cme 61 key controller, 2 24 inch lcds, Event studio 8 monitors, Firepod, Mackie headphone amp, (2) Ultrasone HFI 700 headphones, Ibanez bass (on the floor; no stand ), Roland Fantom s88, Alesis Quadrasynnth 60, Komplete 3, Cubase SL3 (neex3), Stromdrum, EWQLSO silver, small fortune in cables, and a bit more. </brag>
  10. It is indeed the hardest boss. Its incredibly powerful attack, "Rollback", throws the entire forumverse back in time! I could never find that post again. Lost. Forever. And bumps only makes it stronger. Just thought you should know. What if everyone stops posting and just casts "Delete Post" every turn? I'm thinking Earthbound here... or cast a lock if your main character job is "Moderator" Pray. Thats how you win. Or be like conker and crash the server.
  11. I read the thread that you were so rudely kicked from and must tell you to use the torrents if you want to get all the songs. Of course, the most recent ones aren't on them yet, (including mine) so you will have to download them by hand.
  12. I own the UF6, and I love it. The feel is nice, and the knobs and sliders are a real help in composing. Besides, it looks awesome!
  13. HAHAHAHA! Dude, it gets to 120 here in the summer (100 in my room), and I've never had a problem with overheating. Anyways, your current computer will be fine for some nice FL or Reason work. I would suggest you put that 400 bucks into a controller keyboard (like any of these) and a new sound card, and not to mention the program you want to use.
  14. While I agree with you on both counts , I looked through that guide and found it to give some nice tips, if nothing more. Looks like a nice staring read if you really are terrible at production.
  15. I like Battery. As with the main issue, I agree with compy that cubase can do pretty much everything you need. One thing I have learned over my limited musical experience is that you can always do more with the equipment you already have then you think you can. Argi, you have been only working with SL for 2 months. Give it some time, and I think you will be pleased.
  16. It's a 90v. It also has the add-on for mahogany side panels and monitor shelves.
  17. SUCCESS! The main parts of the studio is completed! The desk, computer, firepod and komplete all came in and my father and I spent the last couple days setting it up. The desk was quite a feat to construct, but it is done. The foam has been all put up, and looks (and sounds) great. So without further adu... It's obviously pretty dirty (packaging materials everywhere!) but that's the main construction. Thank you to everyone who has helped me in choosing the right equipment for me; I know this wouldn't be nearly as cool if I had no advice. And as always, further criticism on the arrangement of products and what not is still open. Toodles, and thanks again.
  18. ...what the hell are you talking about? Cubase SX3 has: 64 VST slots 64 Send effect slots 8 inserts per channel When are you ever going to use more then 8 effects? And besides, you can just use sends. And 64 VST slots? You show me a song that has 64 virtual instruments running at once. Your computer will die before you can even think about using all these channels! And Cubase has a freeze option; its right next to each of the VST instrument names on the selector.
  19. Who cares. Like Yoozer said, why withhold relevant information from people just because someone's thirst for knowledge is quenched? This is a forum, lots of people visit this place to read and exchange ideas. Discussions of various topics can be interesting to many people. Besides, I was going to ask similar questions later on, but they were answered.
  20. Beyond Midgar, if I recall, is the first thing you hear when you leave the city the first time. I think the song you are thinking of is "Bombing Mission".
