  1. Happy Birthday man! If it wasn't for christmas I would remix Riviera as a birthday gift!
  2. Part two of The Forerunner Mix takes a more laid back approach. Still keeping that distinct cinematic nature of the first piece (and sharing some of the sounds) it focuses on some very lush pads. Pizzicato strings nicely complements the electronic soundscape and adds to the sparse but enjoyable groove. As with the first part, the production is really ace. Especially when played on a hi-fi system or a home stereo with over-hyped bass to really appreciate all that harmonic material in the pads. I must admit, I have the same issue with this mix as the first part. While it is terrific when you look at it as a soundtrack or background music it might not be the most interesting piece when played by itself. Very atmospheric and ambient but missing a 'hook' or some kind of climax. Very good mix though, I'm certain Nick Singer will be scoring video games in no time.
  3. Very cinematic but still manages to breathe some much needed life in to the genre. Coupling synths with strings is a stroke of genius and makes a very enjoyable combination. The percussion is fairly interesting throughout but isn't really the focus of the remix, something I think is intentional and works well. The production is very clean, there are a lot of small elements that you might not notice at first btu that really helps the piece. As I mentioned the piece has a very cinematic nature and would work well as a soundtrack for both games and movies, though this same nature makes it a tad hard to enjoy as a stand-alone piece of music imho. I can't help but to wish there was some more structure and, even though it's very dynamic, a definite culmination of the piece. Nonetheless, this is a great arrangement well worth your time and it's PERFECT as background music while gaming. Thank you for bringing OCR some Marathon-love.
  4. Maybe I have! BUT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW!?!?
  5. Dhsu does music when he's not posting on the forums? Wicked! Seriously though, this is a very moody remix. The thing I think you're doing best here David is making a piece that stays true to the original song AND the role it played in the actual game. The chord progression is, as many pointed out, great. I like the sparse nature of the arrangement and the playing is superb too, very dynamic. A wonderful piece.
  6. I just think it's incredibly sad they killed her half-sister with their own hands while intoxicated and, let's admit it, probably influenced by a video game and modern television. People seem to think it's one or the other but I believe it's a combination of things that make young people do these kinds of things. Alcohol, family issues, violent games, movies or friends and possibly other psychic problems. Too bad neither you nor media shows that you realize this. Instead it turns someone's death into a reason to bitch about your sub-culture taking a public hit.
  7. depends on how legal you want to be. I have sources :3
  8. I'm officially unhappy I'm not going to Magfest now.
  9. THAT I can very much understand and accept ..though honestly I love it it's so playful
  10. I know you know, I actually mentioned some points that you might have missed though. Like the Underworld BGM and good playing (sure some misses but it's live and the drummer is skilled). I still wonder why you think it should've been removed.. As long as you recognize the source (it IS cleverly arranged, and again for emphasis the Underworld part) it's all good, right? It still holds true to the important parts of the standards, even though the standards are higher now there's no point in removing the older songs because they are sub-par to the newer ones, it's still in line with the site rules. EDIT: I guess you meant this part is holding it back? 3. The source material must be identifiable and dominant. * While interpretation and original additions are encouraged, arrangement must not modify the source material beyond recognition. * The amount of arranged source material must be substantial enough to be recognized. It's very identifiable. Anyone could tell this is mario. And it's very dominant, in fact it's the whole song. It's not modified beyond recognition because, as I said, anyone can hear the mario theme from this. Same goes for point two. I guess the judges (and many others obviously) might not agree with me and say that the original melody is not intact in terms of what exact notes are playing but I stand by my statement that it's very much recognizable AND a somehow interesting arrangement of a well-known tune.
  11. It's an arrangement Dafydd. An arrangement. You can clearly hear the source and a few passages are verbatim, like the undreground BGM.. Honestly. I do not think it should have been bulled off during lockdown. Most of all it's skillfully performed and very good.
  12. You haven't pre-regged so you don't count
  13. SEZ U! You have no vote because you've abandoned remixing as a solo artist. bitch.
  14. Absolutely, but honestly I'd like some respect in any case ;P but I guess you can't have it all
  15. *goes zen* I love. You should too. Also yeah, what's up with the internet forum-attitude? What is this, an internet forum?
  16. but.. but... Did I ever mention that I like you? Because I do. :3 Damn this sucks, Fishy and ToN, get to MAGFest damnit!
  17. WTF PEOPLE! First you're all "Booooo Anso can't go, let's hate him" and now you're dropping out one by one? At least I had the balls to tell the truth early
  18. I actually heard this remix on Palpable's website before it was posted but I'm glad it got on OCR. Not that there was any doubt in my mind The sounds used are both interesting and fits well. Although personally I don't really care for the drums used but they have their function. This remix also does a very nice job keeping the atmosphere from the original track, something I can appreciate a lot. I also enjoy the almost bitcrushed vibe-type sound, nice sound design here Vinnie! The ending has a pretty nice build-up and some serious mono-lead wanking. I can relate :3 although the soundscape at that particular section is a bit thin imho. All in all, great track. More please.
  19. well.. I do enjoy killing people.. .. .. okay :3
  20. that made me laugh. also, let's not focus on killing people who steals OCR music, let's focus on making OCR so big so nobody can possibly steal it without getting caught
  21. At least we can sit on irc and talk about how MAGFest sucks
