  1. now you're losing me.. FL is "faster" when you have nothing loaded up than Reason with nothing loaded up.. that is NOT what this is about ;P Saying that a program is faster because the UI takes more CPU/RAM than another programming is kinda missing the point. These are programs that you use to make music, the important thing is how they behave during this task. I promise you that if you make two tracks that are very similar regarding how many instruments/tracks/fx/automation lanes are used in Reason and FL, Reason will absolutely positively be more CPU efficient. and honestly, you can play the demo in FL with 256mb RAM? now that's something! I've never seen that demo but wow, that demo is nice on your computer Want to know a secret? I do that :3 But only because I use Reason on a pretty decent music-makin' computer! I'm talking professionals, electro artists, sound engineers and whatnot.
  2. Instant classic. Quirky vocals, creative arrangement, great sequencing and insane solos including the best (and only) recorder solo I've heard. Trenthian is makin' magic here. My favorite part is 4:24-4:51, no contest. That's just great writing. The only downsides is the intro guitar (too much chorus man) and fairly boring, awkwardly mixed drums. also, correct me if I'm wrong, autotune on the voice (4:57 is just too magical to be real)? Doesn't matter, sounds good. I wuv Trenthian :3
  3. This is great news! Too bad I can't help you. But I'm really looking forward to OCR getting some more attention worldwide (and, I have to be honest, especially in Japan). Nice work people! *insert nice work guy pic here*
  4. ;* Actually I'm still waiting for BRADLEY to buy it. *mean look* Bradley can't escape now.
  5. Words cannot express how wrong he is. lmao. also, Reason is what Reason is. don't go yelling "I want Reason to be FL", just use FL instead. Another thing, Reason is in no sense of the word a CPU-hog. Ever. The fact that you can't play the demo song is.. well incredibly strange. Are you using a cracked version? Are you sure you've set it up right? When you say that FL works great, are using about the same things in FL? Reverbs, synths, plugs, many tracks, mastering..? Because you can't say that Reason hogs your CPU compared to FL if all you have in FL is a synth or two.. For a bit newer computers, if you use 20-30 combinators, all with separate fx chains including dynamics and a separate RV-7000 on every unit, yeah maybe you get a bit of a CPU problem. But who the fuck does that and what other progrma can handle it? No one in their right mind would use a separate reverb for every track, or compressors on everything, or maximizers on everything.. or 10 different delays. You can't do that in other programs. You can in Reason, and then it gets a bit CPU-intensive (not for me though and I use a 2.33GHz intel core duo macbook pro with 2GB Ram, not that much) and people complain? wtf! In other news, if Thor was a VST plug (including it's modular capabilities with other audio inside the program) I can bet my right arm that many would pay a couple of hundred dollars for it. or more. And that's what Reason costs. Also, what avaris said about EnergyXT. It's great. And Linux/Windows (soon mac os x). Last but not least, and this is important boys and girls, never use software you don't like or think is bad in some way. Ever. There is no reason in the world to do that. Get the demo and try it out. Heck, I bet most of you didn't buy Reason anyway. And if you don't like it, try something else. It's kinda logical when you think about it. And if you don't like something, don't go around bitching about it or, even more important, don't go talk shit to or about other users just because you don't like their tools of choice. done. awesome.
  6. Ey! I've got a pre-regged ticket I need to sell! Come on!
  7. Actually, latency when recording audio is lower with firewire than USB 2.0 even though USB 2.0 is (a little bit) faster than firewire 400 for transfering files. It has something to do with how it was built. FW > USB.
  8. use multiband compression and a limiter until your song is just a block instead of a waveform! works for me ;3
  9. I've heard god things about the Firebox. You should buy that
  10. Hahahahaha, this thread now officially KICKS ASS! XD
  11. Lots of metal here. Yup yup, looots of metal.
  12. I'm joining the fun. Xploding Plastix Well-crafted, incredible sounding and moody IDM from Norway. You will not find a band I love more than Xploding Plastix. Ever. Every sound is fitting and the combination of instruments, synths and well programmed drums is just amazing. Sadly they're not that famous and these two were the only two songs I could find on youtube. There are better ones. - Donca Matic, synthetic atmospheric yet bouncy IDM - Joy comes in the morning, Sample based jazz/orchestral stuff. This is just too amazing.Familjen Swedish electro-pop with the greatest accent known to mankind, Skånska. Catchy, well made and so incredibly good. If this doesn't make you dance you suck. - Det snurrar i min skalle, the hit.Maps and Atlases Incredible math pop/rock. Sadly there aren't any good videos of their music as a band, only crappy live performances. Enjoy this solo performance by the singer instead. The Ongoing Horrible, beautiful song with some unorthodox guitar playing.Oysterhead Wonderful jam-rock from Les Claypool, Trey Anastasio (from Phish) and Stewart Copeland. Filled with funk, fun and straight up great music. Also they are fucking amazing live. really. http://youtube.com/watch?v=L5hu4WuJaAY - The army's on extasy jam part 2 - Great jam, really shows how great Stewart Copeland is. Did I mention he did the early Spyro the Dragon soundtracks? Les Claypool Really. One of the most creative bass players around. His solo work is just way better than Primus. - One Better, straight up funky. Great bassline.Hella Math rock. The best math rock you can possibly find. The craziest drummer in the world. This is super-technical but to me, still very musical and an amazing listen. Also the guitarist, Spencer, plays drums in The Advantage. You know the NES cover band? Isn't life great? - Biblical Violence, you will not find a more interesting live video, ever. Just LOOK at them play! - The Things That People Do when They Think No One's Looking, Hella as a bigger band and from the studio. Great sound and more listenable for everyone. Still crazy like hell though.Jeremy Ellis Detroit MPC-wiz, keyboard player and singer Jeremy Ellis recently did some demos for Propellerheads Reason (yeah, he uses it) and that's how I discover him. His albums are amazing but it's his improvisational skills that's the shit. - Improv with Reason, Jeremy Ellis improvises some beats live. Amazing keyboard player.Regina Spektor One of the most beautiful women alive and an amazing songwriter. Her music goes right to the heart with her peculiar singing and piano playing. This is pure musical joy. 20 years of snow, beautiful song with great lyrics.http://youtube.com/watch?v=9pKujuTgtL0 Us, another amazing song that also shows how beautiful she is :3 ok that's it for now, gotta go to work
  13. When on the subject of emulators, here are some GREAT mac os x emus that needs attention: http://bannister.org/software/emu.htm Richard Bannister is my god :3
  14. For Reason users I also recommend the videos on props website, also there's a lot of good youtube tutorials. I really recommend just trying stuff though, when you know your software (and a bit of music in general) you can start remixing without any issues
  15. I'm the same way. I'm still all about PS2. Trying to play FFXII, Digital Devil Saga, Dragon Quest 8, Psychonauts and a bunch of obscure titles like Steambot Chronicles all at the same time :3 at least it's cheap
  16. Neverwinter Nights 2 isn't nearly as popular as Twilight Princess and the gamecube version of TP was released in limited numbers. Supply and demand. A game console typically lasts for about 5 years before a sequel to that console comes. During that time there are expensive games but most big titles (that are released in many copies) get cheap fast. There are loads of games that enter cheap on the consoles too that are still good, games you can get on the same platform you got 4-5 years ago. Also there are never issues with compatibility of OS or parts. Not upgrading your computer for 5 years and still playing the newest games seems highly unlikely, you can do that with a console. And then the console itself is still a lot cheaper than a workstation. Also, PS3 is very demanding on the developers. I read some article about PS3 games having massive budgets because of everything that had to do with PS3 and how it was built.. though I can't be sure. I don't care for PS3. You seem to know this so I take your word for it. I just haven't been interested in buying any of those titles (all shooters or wargames, don't care much for 'em.. though I WOULD like portal) so I wouldn't know. I just know that they're still expensive.
  17. Okay I'm in. *starts writing* EDIT: Okay I'm out. *stops writing* I still suppor thist though, it's just that I have a very special way of remixing. I just play my keyboard until it sounds good. Doubt that'll help anyone.
  18. No it doesn't. Upgrading your PC (and for all I care, buying the PC in the first place) AND buying the new games is more expensive than buying console games. Also it's not like every game is $50. Many good previous-generation games are way below that. In any case the newest PC games are above $50 anyway. Though, as someone mentioned, a computer is way more than a gaming platform and that might justify not buying a console if you don't care for the games there.
