Since when is it a cause for complaint when developers don't release much info? Hell, all Nintendo really has to do to build the hype train for this game is announce it, yet instead they're giving us new info every weekday. That's pretty damn good. Besides, I'm sure they'll announce something substantial before the game's release. Be patient is all I'm saying.

My opinion on Final Smashes is that they're all good and well if they're all similar to Mario's. That is, it should be possible to dodge them, or at least minimize the amount of damage taken from them. It would be horrible, IMO, if some Final Smashes were targetted on a single character, and were unable to be prevented by the target. I don't want to have to watch helplessly as my opponent beats on me in an overly cinematic fashion, all initiated by the push of a button. I have a feeling that, if some Final Smashes are targetted, you'll have to push buttons repeatedly, or worse, shake the Wiimote, to escape. This would be terrible.

But regardless, characters can't be included unless they were on a Nintendo system at one point. So that rules out Devil May Cry, Streets of Rage...probably some others but I'm too lazy to check. Although I could see NiGHTS happen, if only to promote the upcoming Wii release.

3:00 AM, huh? It's times like these I wish I lived on the other side of the continent.

Damn, 11:00 AM Eastern time, then. Two more hours...

I can't wait for them to release some information on the changes made to the Terrans. They've always been my race of choice. Plus they just have so much more personality than the 'Toss or Zerg. Also I think I'm gonna reinstall SC now.

Despite its horrible, horrible fanbase/general reputation, Kingdom Hearts was a great game. I will nominate that. Also, for a far less obvious choice, Phantom Dust for the Xbox.

This man speaks truth. Really, we shouldn't rule out an '08 release.
-
Yes there is. There's Final Fight and some other one.

Haven't they been saying 2007 for like, ever? I figured it'd be holiday season 2007 since Brawl's announcement, though I could see it being pushed back to spring of '08.

So, uh, am I the only one who was somewhat disappointed with this game? I mean, it really took away what made Paper Mario unique in the Mario franchise. For me, one of the cool aspects of the first two Paper Mario's was that you play as a 2d character in a 3d world. Now, you play as a 2d character...in a 2d world. That's exciting. Yes, I know you can flip to 3d, but you can only do so for a limited time, and the 3d world is very dumbed down, as much of the background becomes paper-thin walls. It's primarily a 2d game. I also feel as though the atmosphere isn't nearly as memorable as it was before. Maybe it's just because you're no longer in the Mushroom Kingdom, but I find the landscape in general to just be boring. I cite *SPOILERS * Bleck's castle. Okay, so it's kinda cool at first that everything is just a black void of nothingness, but that gets old very fast. It's got nothing on Bowser's Castle from the first Paper Mario. *END SPOILERS* I think the series needs to pick a genre and stick with it. None of this hybrid RPG-platformer crap. Because frankly, the platforming isn't nearly as good as something like Super Mario World or the old DK games (it's very slow-paced), and the RPG elements aren't as good as the other Paper Mario's. So now we have another platformer in the vast sea of Mario platformers. Great. Maybe I'm just biased because I liked Paper Mario so much as an RPG. Hopefully they'll continue that series, and keep Super Paper Mario as a sort of "spin-off" series, kind of like Metroid Prime and Megaman X. Ok, end rant.

That's pretty much along the lines of what I'm thinking too. I think he wants the game to have a much more serious atmosphere. Maybe it'll incorporate something similar to the Soul Calibur series, such as each character has a story and a background behind them. Who knows? The thing about that is, SSBM already has a much more serious atmosphere than your typical Nintendo game, as evidenced by its Teen rating. The character models in SSBM are much more realistic than most other 1st party Gamecube games. How much more "serious" can they make it without turning it into post-apocalyptic grunge-core cartoon violence? I don't know about you, but I don't want to see Mario going around stabbing people with rusty nails. Ok, so that's a little extreme, but you get the point.

I personally think Sonic has no place in Smash Bros, but yeah, his appearance is Brawl is definitely possible - likely even. His massive popularity, combined with Sega's and Nintendo's growing relations, basically assure it. I'd even go so far as to say that Tails could be put in, as well.

Since we're on the subject of Zelda, I wonder what they're gonna do about Shiek? We can assume they will be using TP Zelda rather than OoT Zelda, so it wouldn't make any sense to give her transform, since Shiek isn't in TP. Given, you could just forget about that and keep transform anyway, but I'd like to think that Shiek will be a separate character this time around. Also, I love the idea of giving Zelda her sword. I say she should wield it not with the skills of a master swordsman, but rather she should beef it up with magic.

I remember she says at one point that her people are banished for a reason, and that the two worlds shouldn't inter-mingle. I thought it made perfect sense.

World of StarCraft? For real this time?
Scufo replied to Ab56 v2 aka Ash's topic in General Discussion
I must say that I'd be pretty enthusiasic if a Starcraft MMO was to come out. I very much like the SC universe as a whole, and WoW was great when I still played it. So Blizzard could definitely pull it off. I would, however, rather see an RTS sequel than anything. -

With practice, probably. I beat Oot with only three hearts, and with nothing that's not required to complete the game. Granted, TP is a bit harder...but the three-heart challenge is far from impossible. No way in hell you'll beat the Cave of Ordeals, though.

Well, I finished the game today. My thoughts:

I finally got TP last week, for the Gamecube. I'm abolutely loving it so far. I just beat the fifth dungeon. Also, I really like Midna as a character. Best guide-type-person so far IMO.

They could start by making Sylvanas actually look like the High Elf she is instead of a Night Elf...
