  1. I will try out for it. Hopefully my silly "Liquid interviews Psycho Mantis" and "Captain Falcon Abortion Punch" voice overs will suffice as examples... plus a few others. So if I know nothing about Final Fantasy 7 and want to audition, but know very little about the characters voices, what should I do? The casting call seems to want us to know who we're trying out for, and I'm just confuzzled... are there any examples of the way characters sound anywhere or ... what?? (Yes, I know I've lived in a cave/was in a coma/whatev)
  2. Hmm... I'll go for memorable quotes from Metal Gear Solid, since the next week or so is all about MGS4... "A surveillance camera?!" - SOLID SNAKE "I am neither enemy nor friend. I am back from a world where such words are meaningless." - CYBORG NINJA (aka GRAY FOX) "Snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAKE!!!" - Any number of people
  3. Life is Study... I got to meet Douglas Smith, the guy that does the voice acting for the main character (Kintaro), at A-kon a few days ago! Man I love GoldenBoy. lol. Stuuuuuuuddy! I hadn't laughed that hard in a really long time.
  4. GOLDENBOY 6 Episodes. Hilarious. Dubbing is fantastic for the main character and easily justifies watching the entire show. Watch it. Now.
  5. Gotta be honest, I've owned all the systems from last gen and this gen. The Wii for a gamer like me is just not a good fit. Loved Smash Bros Brawl, but I couldn't tell you any other game I want on the damned thing. I don't even follow Wii news anymore because I just don't care. (This coming from a guy that stood in line for a Wii and stood in line for Smash Bros Brawl... HELL MY SIG IMAGE is almost all Nintendo characters...) As a long time Nintendo guy the Wii is by far the biggest dissappointment, primarily because it just feels like they aren't trying... they put out a gimmick, occasionally you get a passable game, but seriously, it's rehash, after rehash, after rehash, where they force you to use the wiimote in an entirely unoriginal way... again after again after again. And I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan... just feel like they aren't trying. The 3rd party games for the most part are not fun. I'm tired of mini-games and simple adventure games. And I know this is in part because Nintendo is aiming it's console at a new market. I'm okay with that, but I do feel a little abandoned... Microsoft. They've got a good console. Good user base. Best online service, and good graphics. Solid games coming out consistently. Not much more I can say. It's solid.. better than solid. The best bet if you want a good platform that has everything pinned down. Everyone knows the good stuff coming out for the system. Sony. I really feel like Sony is trying to make it's users happy... they keep adding feature after feature to the PS3 and its online service is free. Of all the systems, it is at least important to mention that the PS3 is the only system that I have from this gen that hasn't given me problems. My Wii has a power issue and must be unplugged every couple of times I use it just to turn it on (not really a big deal, but annoying). The Xbox360 ate discs after while. I have had zero problems with my PS3. None. Add to that Blu-Ray playback, and a lot of fantastic games coming out soon, it's going to only push competition with Microsoft to a new level. Surprisingly enough, of all the systems I am the most happy with the PS3... and I think it will stay that way for the forseeable future. In my opinion, you just can't beat the Blu-Ray playback, constant features being added to the Cross Media Bar, and just a feeling like Sony's trying to make people happy. I don't get that feeling from Microsoft or Nintendo, at all. Sure, there are MORE games on both the 360 and the Wii, but there are more games that I care about playing on the PS3. It only further excites me to think that the PS3's potential hasn't fully been realized yet. When the PS2 was out, I really felt like sony was not trying, and it was because they were in the lead. I get that feeling from Microsoft currently. They're coasting, just like sony did 5 years ago while Xbox Live was pushing the envelope with online functionaility. Now that Sony is no longer the top dog, the PS3 console is fantastic because Sony is really working hard to get more users and people on board... anything is possible in the future, and I just can't say that about the other consoles right now... especially the Wii. I mean the PSP/PS3 functionality already is cool. The idea that watching Blu-Ray on my PSP is even better. Sony is doing cool stuff like really integrating everything. The Wii/DS is just a lost opportunity that Nintendo refuses to capitalize on properly. I just can't say it enough, Sony's really doing a lot of cool stuff, and while it may be in last place in the console race right now, it's by far my favorite console right now. ... plus Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out in 9 days, and if it is as good as the reviews are saying it will be one of the few big name sequels that will have delivered on it's promises (this one is aimed at you Halo 3 and Smash Bros Brawl... good games, but better than the titles before them? Dunno.). I played the Metal Gear Online beta and absolutely loved the gameplay... so it's looking good. Gears of War 2 is looking good though as well on the 360. I guess I just have a longer history with the Metal Gear franchise. Throw in Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet, and that sounds like good. I'm hesitant to mention KillZone 2... it looks fantastic, but the Killzone titles have never quite been good... who knows, maybe they'll surprise us... *shrugS* That's my two cents/my opinion/viewpoint/outlook.
  6. Man, more spoiler filled videos are showing up. I might have to do a 9 day fast of the internet. haha. but no worries. We need to get everyone together once it's out and play some MGO together. The beta was a blast. ... of course... only after we've all finished MGS4. lol. EDIT: BY THE WAY, the player's guide comes out on June 4th, and will be available at stores! So if you're avoiding spoilers like me you'll probably want to be cautious on the internet. Just saying. They will know the entire game tomorrow... careful. also just found out the gamestop I pre-ordered at is having a midnight launch (yay!). 8 days, 9 hours, 21 minutes, and 10 seconds left!
  7. ... I've stayed away from the track listing and the songs. Thanks for letting me know. I need to stay away just for another week and a half. Hah. OH, and also June 1st, a new (and possibly final) Kojima Report podcast from Ryan Payton. It's on the hideo blog page. It's 77 minutes long to make up for the 2 month hiatus. http://www.kjp.konami.jp/gs/hideoblog_e/2008/05/000156.html#comment I am so psyched. This is the most excited I've been for a game in a reeeeally long time.
  8. I'd enter every once in a while. Especially for a Metal Gear themed one.
  9. I'm diggin the new videos they released last week. OH, HEY I HAVE A QUESTION... SOMEONE ANSWER IT... *shifty eyes* Somewhere I heard that in the intro video of MGS4, there is some footage from the live-action Hollywood Metal Gear Solid movie... can anyone show me where this was said or uncovered? I think I might have heard Ryan Payton say it over a month ago during his (apparently dead?) podcast. Anyone else know anything about this?
  10. I'm half-persian... With black hair, darker eyebrows, and a tiny bit more of a tan, I think Gyllenhall (however you spell it) may be able to pull it off. Dshu said it. There are quite a few Persians that are fair skinned with dark hair... blue eyes are pretty rare but they do happen, even today. I see it every once in a while. Especially in the time period the movie/games take place, much of the Persian Empire was of much lighter complexion (pre-Arabian culture/gene mixing). Even today, Persians are still a bit lighter than most middle easterners. I just really hope this movie is good and that it portrays ancient Persia for what it was. At least that'd be nice... everytime I tell any older Iranian person that a "Prince of Persia" movie is coming out they act like political motivations in Hollywood will portray Persians in a bad light. I think that's ridiculous personally. And they'll always cite 300. It's like they don't get that it was drawn in that comic book style, and the movie was just keeping that style in tact. They're not portraying Iranians/Persians as monsters to persuade the youth to support a new war with Iran. *falls over* I mean, Iran has had it's share of political issues, but come on, the Iranian population, in my opinion, is much more sensitive to this stuff than they should be. /rant (sorry) Anyway, good times. I hope this movie is good, but hell, it probably won't be. In any case, maybe it will be fun.
  11. Tons of news... new trailers... and a day ago Kojima did some damage control and said he was NOT disappointed with MGS4, and was only being humble. Also, new theatrical trailer... it all fairly recent right now on Kotaku. Some people weren't digging the product placement stuff, but I think it's kind of funny. There's something about Snake holding up an energy drink and smiling that makes me lawl. Below are kinda-but-not-really-Spoilers: And I guess that Young Snake we saw was just the OctoCamo mask based on the trailers making the OctoCamo sound when transferring from old Snake to younger. Which is cool. Maybe we'll get some interesting Easter Eggs for different heads.
  12. MGO beta is over... I feel empty inside... ...but METAL GEAR SOLID 4 will be in my hands in less than 30 days! *dances*
  13. hahahahahahahahahahaha. right on man, right on. hahahahahahahahahahaha.
  14. Man, I loved TechTV... I loathe G4 and all it's infantile "gotta be teen internet cool" crap it pumps out. Not to mention the annoying hosts. TechTV was just cool. And I miss Leo Laporte and the more intelligent types ... G4 makes babies cry.
  15. I agree. Doom 2 is more accessible (and fun) in my opinion as well. But what I was trying to say is that doom 3 really didn't feel all that new at all, if anything, going from doom 2 to doom 3 (flashlight and graphics excluded) felt like a slight downgrade.
  16. It's more exciting to see what the graphics id is going to churn out will look like than the actual gameplay of a new doom... which I know will be mediocre, boring, and uninspired. Doom 3 bored me to tears. Same old Doom 2 formula repackaged with nice graphics. I would imagine Doom 4 will be more of the same. id should really be working on a new IP at this point unless they plan to really make something ground breaking in doom 4.
  17. ... sad but true... but Sega does have a history of appreciating fan made stuff... i don't know though; I wouldn't be surprised if it gets shut down though.
  18. SNEAKING MODE has been activated online for a while now! You can play as Snake and play with the OctoCamo. Wow, it works so well... The new (3rd) map is fantastic too, it really forces team squad based tactics. Now I just wish I would get selected to play as the Metal Gear MkII. lol. So funny seeing that thing running around the battle field. haha.
  19. Quoted for truth, justice, and more truth. What level are you at? What skills are you using?
  20. the beta has been up for a while. Having fun, although it's a bit laggy atm. Now that I can really mess around inside the game I absolutely love the movements and abilities you can do. At first the controls are a little intimidating but pretty soon it's natural. Very cool. Metal Gear Online is fun, but it only reinforces the fact that MGS4 will be amazing. The controls feel good, and in a single player setting with AI doing interesting things it will be even better. Very happy to play with the MGS4 engine. AND I can't believe playing dead and hiding in boxes actually works. I played dead earlier, and a group of enemies just walked past me, I flipped over and shot them from lying on my back. it was awesome.
  21. watch this... http://cosbybebop.ytmnd.com/ you'll wish it was an anime.
  22. http://www.twitter.com Just curious, because I never knew about it until about a month ago, and apparently it's all the rage (and since I'm into conforming to internet socio-culture) so here I am. Actually, a lot of academics are viewing it as a good way to get instant feedback and samples of what's going on in the world, as you can search by zipcode or region to see what's going on. Political discussion, storm info, and just random info about what the hell people are doing are all online. Supposedly it's ground breaking. It's essentially like the "What are you doing" fields on Myspace and Facebook. Except that's pretty much all it is. It's addicting though. So does anyone else twitter? My username is Jason_K http://twitter.com/jason_k Add me.
