  1. Black/White 2 has been on my to-listen-to list for quite a while. I promised myself no obligations for a while but if crunch time is coming, we'll see what comes out of listening to it this week.
  2. Yes, absolutely. I will ship it over to Leif when I have the time to sit and email it. Just clear it with Badass Director Puga before you commit. Sorry to see Mokram go, but I'm not giving up hope yet that things can be salvaged. Nope, never giving up. And I should have my final for Luste's Stage done within the next week or two.
  3. So do I gotta do this to make sure I'm not in a shameful physical state for OCRU? Coach OA threatens me with a wet towel if I'm not hitting the weights hard ;_;
  4. WELCOME TO STEVO'S ONLINE GARAGE SALE! "I got all types of crazy crap!" Bubs, the best salesman Let's get right down to business: I'm out of room for all my stuff. I've been hoarding various computer parts and tech for most of my adult life and my closets are now full of things that I'm not likely to use. So I'm clearing it all out and I'm giving OCR folks the first pickings for things. I accept Paypal (I'll take the hit on the sales tax) but since a lot of this stuff is being sold much cheaper than I'd get if I went on ebay first, buyer has to pay shipping. If you're going to MAGFest and want to save the shipping, I can bring things there for pickup. Either that or you can pay me in cash if you're in my local area and want to pick anything up. All consumer electronics like Phones and Tablets and such are fully tested. All computer parts listed will say if they're tested, and if there's something you're interested in that isn't tested, send me a request and I'll test it. CPUs go through Prime95 for 8 hours, RAM goes through Memtest for 8 hours, Video Cards go through an hour of the 3d Mark level they were designed for, and motherboards go through all three. All other stuff will be tested appropriately. Sidenote: A lot of the individual computer parts I've collected over the years were intended for building DOS and Windows 98 Machines. Just like old consoles, there is emulation for those things (DOSBox and Virtual Machines) but emulation isn't perfect, and nothing quite replicates the sensation of playing on the originals. If you're interested in me building you a machine for that kind of computer, send me a request and we can work something out. I have a lot of stuff to get rid of so I'll be updating this as often as I can. -------------- Consumer Electronics/Gaming Stuff Netbook: Toshiba NB255-N250 (with Charger, updated to 2GB RAM) Full Specs Price: $180 Windows 7 Starter, upgraded to 2GB RAM. Screen is perfect, as is keyboard. Only place it shows any wear is on the top, where a small surface gash is. But that's only cosmetic damage to the "molded" part of the plastic top. Gets really good battery life, I just don't use it anymore. Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 Tablet: iPad 1st Gen 32GB WiFi-Only (Jailbroken, with USB wall charger, iPad cable, Invisishield Screen Protector and Case) Price: $250 Comes with Untethered Jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1, completely wiped. Aluminum back shows only minimal signs of wear as this was in-case and screen protected from the 2nd day of use. Screen, under the protector, is perfect. Screen protector itself shows some use but none of the blemishes are on the screen itself (mostly on bezel, but its only the screen protector that looks used). In perfect working order. Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 Pic5 Android Phone: LG Thrive (LG-P506, Rooted with Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 CM9-based Rom, Travel Charger, no MicroSD) Full Specs Price: $80 Has some wear and tear but is fully functional and any screen scratches do not interfere with operation. It was given new life when it was rooted and Rom'd, surprisingly fast for its specs (not top shelf by any means but its absolutely usable). WiFi/Bluetooth/Camera all work, but no internal storage so you'll need a Micro SD card (worked for me up to 32gb). Was an AT*T Go Phone so it works with any AT&T SIM card or Straight Talk. A great first Android phone if you want to start getting into it but don't want to spend a lot at the get-go, very usable as a portable media device, or a throwaway Android dev phone. Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 "The Tornado" USB 2.0 File Transfer Kit Price: $25 Requires Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8? (Haven't tested it with 8 but I'm 99% sure it should work just fine). Plug it into two computers that you want to transfer data between. Extremely useful if you do IT work or just want to move files between laptop and desktop without the hassle of plugging in a thumb drive (I know I hate always having thumb drives sticking out of my laptops). 5. Also GoG has an absolutely stellar Interplay deal going on right now: http://www.gog.com/interplay "Pay what you want" (less than $10.56 right now) and get: Conquest of the New World, M.A.X. + M.A.X. 2, Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business, Shattered Steel, Screamer, Evolva, Kingdom: The Far Reaches, VR Soccer '96 Pay above the average (but less than $34.99) and also get: Freespace + Expansion, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Descent 3 + Expansion, Stonekeep, Castles + Castles 2, Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader, Messiah, Battle Chess Special Edition, Die by the Sword + Expansion, Earthworm Jim 3D, F/A-18E Super Hornet, Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus Pay above $34.99 and also get: Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Freespace 2, Descent + Descent 2, Redneck Rampage Collection, Sacrifice, Earthworm Jim 1 + 2, MDK, MDK 2, Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, Kingpin: Life of Crime A whole ton of these come with soundtracks and it honestly is worth the bundle for Fallout, Giants, MDK and Earthworm stuff. As a budget-minded gamer, 32 games for $35 is very hard to pass up. Deal is on for two weeks. I am finding a way to pay for this and you should too. Because of awesome. Edit: Hey 42, mind editing the OP and the thread title to also mention the Interplay deal?
  6. I haven't had a chance to listen yet but I will try to do so in the near future. But I wanted to say how much I love Raptor: Call of the Shadows and how awesome you are for even attempting this.
  7. OKAY PEOPLE I'm really sorry I let the OP get very outdated. I just spent a lot of time looking over the WHOLE thread and I think everything in the OP is now up to date. Everyone who books a room at the Gaylord should list in OCR block, unless you want to take your chances elsewhere (where you could find yourself some peace and quiet maybe, or maybe be in a worse, louder area). For group reg, I suggest getting that done within the next two weeks. Gar, you seem to be on the ball, so do one last round of solicitation on the forums and in the IRC chat for people. If I missed anything, or anything is inaccurate, let me know. Gonna be a mighty fine MAG this year.
  8. I do but nobody seems to listen. And NiGHTS has aged far better than SA2, namely because of the gameplay aesthetics being more timeless in NiGHTS. It's absolutely worth the money, and doesn't have any of that DLC bullhonkey right now.
  9. I hate you. On a side note, I'm totally excited to be playing at MAG this year. How many shirts will I take off and throw into the crowd? One? Two? Seventeen?! YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO BE THERE TO FIND OUT!
  10. Let me counter your question with another question: whatever happened to your album about what you learned from video games? No, seriously, I can't find it online anywhere anymore. I want it bad. In response to your question, the safest bet would be to NOT send in your replacement until it is done, but send in an email telling them that they can go ahead with their evaluation on the old version. If that passes, it should be a lesser evaluation process to replace it with a new version, though really these kinds of things are taken on a case-by-case basis (depending on how close the new version is to the old, and if the changes affect the source amount or quality negatively in the ears of the judges).
  11. It came out today in the States for PSN, comes out Friday for XBL. No word yet on Steam release date. I'm downloading it right now. My PSN name is themightyfister (don't ask). Anyone else picking it up?
  12. Rockestral (full orchestra plus rock band) game music arrangements. Featuring music from Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Grandia, Castlevania, Chrono Trigger, Street Fighter II and more. Follow-up to the sold out show at Boston Symphony Hall in 2011. Special Guests: Boston Symphony Orchestra 301 Massachusetts Avenue From my good buddies Audi and Shota: Available Here Album recording of the concert. $30,000 budget (licensing, mastering, mixing, artwork, production) Digital pledge at $10. Physical CD at $20. Behind the scenes documentary with the special guest composers for $35+ pledgers. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vgo/video-game-orchestra-live-at-symphony-hall-album
  13. I, like Bardic, too wish I had free time to play this during the week. Any week.
  14. So Luiza and I are basically done our Terra track. It's not what anyone is going to expect from it at all.
  15. No you can't. Not unless you're eating from the dumpster.
  16. Can I just say that I'm kinda teary-eyed from that kind of lofty praise? Have a GREAT wedding this weekend with nerdy music that will touch the hearts of everyone present. Mazel Tov! Salud! Le Chaim! Edit: Another very warm acoustic mix of mine that fits in with what you're looking for is Quickening, from Xenogears: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02085/
  17. Oh no. Oh nonononono. This is bad. This is very bad. Borderlands 2: Released September 18th Torchlight 2: Release September 20th What little time I had in my life will no longer exist. Nor will sleeping. Nor eating. Bathroom trips may be deprecated by a plastic bag and a window access to the trash can.
  18. I'm getting settled back in myself after a crazy Summer so I'll re-send my WIP feedback to Mokram, get feedback to Meteo and Shaggy, and check in with Calum and Metal Man. I'll also get a near-final version of my track in within the next two weeks.
  19. I did send you feedback via PM! You telling me you never got it? Let me check my outbox, I swear I did it months ago.
  20. Check in, folks. The deadline was earlier this week and I received only one WIP in the last 5 weeks. Whats the status of you all? I will start PMing people this weekend!
  21. Not the biggest dubstep fan but I'm sure I'm gonna love this.
  22. To quote MST3k, this is how I feel about the OWA version: "Oh great, the score is skipping."
  23. Wow. Just....wow. If anyone needs a crash course in how to not do a proper new version of a game, porting it to the same system it is essentially being ported from, please play this. Remember that FF7 tech demo for the PS3? Skweenicks has had the most successful 6 year long troll of all time. I don't know whether to ignore this entirely, or request the company mercifully put down the ff7 name and never look at it again.
  24. This wouldn't really limit the amount of submissions we get: it would either coral them into a much heavier submission period, or discourage people from remixing often, or both. People would also still try to submit offseason as well, and it doesn't lessen the amount of work that is done on the backend. Mixes would still need to be spread out. And that would definitively limit the amount that a person COULD submit in a given year, which is not our primary goal (once every 3 weeks is plenty submission time, but halve that and its getting way too restrictive). By trying to restrict people to doing one mix a year, seemingly leveling the playing field, you're only frustrating people and driving more people away. Some people make more music than others, and all individuals are treated as equal as possible in the posting process. It also discourages people from saving up to one mix per year because of the amount of submissions that are still rejected. Would you want to only have a very small amount of shots to make it and then have to wait 6-11 months before trying again? I don't think any mixer, veteran or novice, would be happy with that kind of scenario. And neither would we. Keep thinking, though! Never stop coming up with ideas to make the site better.
  25. Clarifications: 1) In the past, on ReMix albums, there has been some leniency as to the source material allowed. Super Dodge Ball included a number of public domain folk songs that, while not infringing on any particular copyrights, are not eligible for regular ReMixing since the only folk song allowed to be arranged is Tetris A. The difference here, however, is that TMNT theme is a LICENSED song originally created for a TV show and not for the games. BTMNTBAMLOL, as an example, used a small cameo of the song itself but was not strictly a ReMix OF the title theme in-total. A cameo should be fine, but ReMixing the TMNT TV show theme by itself, and in full length, would not be allowed as a ReMix or on a ReMix album. This is stated very clearly in the submission guidelines for regular ReMixes, which up until now has been de facto reference for what is allowable under ReMix albums for viable source material. 2) As far as approval goes, there's basically two individual things that apply: a) Preliminary approval while the project is in-progress. Final approval of an album package for posting The first is when we receive an album submission letter from a person, stating the overview of the album and giving some samples of the in-progress quality. If that meets the expectations of the reviewing team, the album is given tentative official status, and gets moved to the Projects subforum. This can be lost during the process if the album stagnates or starts to veer offcourse in scope, quality, or material. Being an official project in-progress does not guarantee an immediate passing to post, but its a very good start and it allows OCR staff to much more closely monitor, track, and assist if needed. The second is after ANY album, in-progress official or not, gets submitted to the site. This document is a guideline for this specifically, as we will not evaluate an album that is missing any part of its final package. Consider this the last line of defense against incomplete albums. Staff has, up until now, pulled a lot of extra tasks on the backend to make an album postable. As the sophistication of albums grows more complex, more tasks are now being delegated onto the director to ensure a complete and quality album, as well as making it easy for staff to have a fast and efficient evaluation and posting process. More questions will be answered shortly. Edit: The viability of the TMNT theme specifically is being discussed at the staff meeting this week. So the answer may change in a few days.
